1 out of 5 eggsSending Back for Refund

Pros: This card seemed like a awesome product for the price, A lot of great features in a add on card that fits in a PCI express slot. The 1/2 size bracket (included) is a nice touch.

Cons: This card is poorly laided out, when using the ide connector you have to remove the card next to it. There is simply no room. The older Promise cards put the ide on the end of the card or the connector at a 90 deg angle to allow room for other cards. On top of this after two boots the card failed and my machine would not even post. On a test board it functioned enough for me to get into the bios but it would not find any drives in any mode. The included sata cable is junk it kept on falling off my drive and driving me crazy. And the product is pictures with paperwork (instructions) mine did not come with any. No biggie but lazy on the part of rosewill.

Other Thoughts: the is the first rosewill product that I have returned in six years of buying there products. they normally make top notch products. I still will buy there products but I will compare them to others and examine the pictures better to know the layout of there cards

5 out of 5 eggsRC-216 after motherboard SATA controller failure

Pros: Pros: Allowed SATA drives to boot on ECS G31T-M motherboard after the motherboard SATA controller failed (Thought it was hard drive failure). Boots with both XP and Win7 32 Bit.
Allowed SATA boot drive, another SATA drive and extra IDE drive to be used as standard drives, not used as RAID drives.

Cons: Cons: Required new install of Windows, repair install would see drives in a Dos prompt would not allow booting.

Other Thoughts: Other Thoughts: Make sure that Boot Drive is the first drive listed in the BIOS (DEL {For BIOS}, (over to ADVANCED SETUP), (down to HARD DISK DRIVES{make BOOT DRIVE first drive}), F10(save) & exit

4 out of 5 eggsNice Little Card

Pros: The SATA and eSATA ports worked fine. I didn't get a chance to use the ATA133 port, though. On-board BIOS seemed to slide right into the system map just fine.

Cons: On drives larger than 2TB, Windows XP 32-bit couldn't see the drives at all, except as SCSI data storage devices. Tried a GPT loader, but it didn't do SCSI. Rosewill used a JMicron chip on this card that causes the problem. However, Linux sees the drives just fine without any additional drivers, and I understand that WinXP 64-bit and all versions later than XP work fine.

Other Thoughts: I'm not using the card at the moment, because I only have one compatible PCIe slot on his board, and I needed that slot for a gigabit NIC. On later builds, though, I intend to use the card if I need an IDE connector or extra SATA/eSATA ports.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat idea... Bad description

Pros: Its a nice card, supposidly does what it should do (raid arrays)

Cons: It won't do single drives

Other Thoughts: I don't really do RAID arrays on my computer, however I believe this card would be great at taking a computer that doesn't have the capibility and adding RAID to it. Sadly in the description it doesn't say 'RAID ONLY'

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you very much for your purchase of our product. We do apologize for this inconvenience. Please try the following steps to use the JBOD feature.

2. At the next screen select Create RAID Disk Drive, press Enter.
3. Enter RAID name, press Enter.
4. Please use arrow keys ↑ and ↓ to switch the RAID level to JBOD-Concatenate,then press Enter.

5 out of 5 eggsDependable ol' Rosewill !

Pros: Fired up straight off the bat like a Rosewill product always has reguardless of the type of product! Runs sata 2 and pata 133 flawlessly as expected. Love the dependability of good companies.

Cons: no way

Other Thoughts: I wish that Rosewill made more stuff so I could minimize my rma possibilities... This card was a steal for 15 beans and it saved a new but shabby mobo w/south bridge issues seeing hdd's. Thanks again newegg an Rosewill

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: ...

Cons: Multiple times, when I tried to run the Rosewill installation software, I would get BSOD and errors on my striped SSDs (connected to motherboard, not this card). sfc /scannow and chkdsk couldn't recover. Trashed the card.

Other Thoughts: The good news was it timed nicely with a SSD Firmware update (that needed to be done out of RAID). Firmware update, re-RAID, Restore Win7 from a backup set.

5 out of 5 eggs$14 well spent

Pros: gave me the ide port I needed for my z68ftw mb. Driver cd worked and on reboot my ide hard disk was ready. I have more sata ports then I need right now, but the extra 2 might come in handy down the road. Came with good an ide cable and a one sata cable, alone worth $14

Cons: would have been nice to have another ide port, but I have enough slots to throw another in if needed.ide cable was short...but I have a thor case(e-atx-giant size)

Other Thoughts: moving from legacy 98 and xp systems have been made eaiser by inexpensive sata cards in pci and pcie format. A scsi card in ide costs more than my mb!

1 out of 5 eggsCheap Card

Pros: Cost is the only good thing I can say

Cons: Half height card, but no half height bracket adapter included. To enable the external eSATA, had to manipulate 8 jumpers, documentation is cheap black and white and had to download PDF to be able to clearly see pictures describing jumper configuration, never got the eSATA working on card

Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for.

4 out of 5 eggsworks in Windows Server 2008 R2 64-Bit

Pros: + cheap
+ many different ports and configurations to choose from
+ works as promised

Cons: - need to read the instructions carefully. pay attention to "Magic Switch" instructions. Download the PDF manual because you won't be able to see the jumper settings in the printed one that comes with it...

Other Thoughts: I purchased this card to connect an external drive via eSATA to my workstation and the eSATA ports were not active until I changed the jumper settings on the card (thank you to the reviewer who pointed this out!). Drivers were no problem. Just make sure to use the one on Rosewill's website for Win 7 64-Bit as others have said. If you see JMicron JMB36X listed under Storage Controllers in the Device Manager, you're golden.
