Only way I could get it to work
- Pros: If you need a dedicated power supply for your graphics card due to restrictions on your motherboard, then this is the solution. I have been very pleased with it, as it allowed me to install a new video card when I was otherwise unable.
I would definitely buy this product if I faced a similar problem in the future.
- Cons: Setup is slightly difficult, with a certain level of technical expertise necessary to make sure you're not connecting incorrect cables - but it's pretty difficult to do, as most cables have specific heads and can only be plugged into certain sockets.
I have seen some slight system instability, mainly during startup, with the computer sometimes hanging indefinitely or just failing to boot.
This installation results in heavy power usage.
- Other Thoughts: This product is really the only way to go when you need a dedicated supply outside of the main power supply.
Runs my second Ultra
- Pros: Xtra power when you don't have the bucks to fund your second VC.
- Cons: Non- modular-type power cable.
Kind of a pain when moving the PC around, and it's dangling there, pulling out the back of your case.
- Other Thoughts: Did what I needed it to do.
Went SLI with 2 8800 Ultras, and my 850 PSU wasn't quite enough. This thing single-handedly runs my second Ultra...Aint no thing.
450 Watt POWER!
- Pros: This things work great. I have been using the 450 watt version for about a year now. I have used SLI 8800gts, GTX 260, 8800 Ultra, and nothing ever gives it a problem. I got it for $60 and it well worth the money. I have it with a Corsair 520 watt power supply with plenty for peripherals.
- Cons: The power plug in the back of the power supply is kind of touchy sometimes. If you open your case to mod things, make sure the power plug is still seated correctly.
- Other Thoughts: EVGA 750sli motherboard, 520watt corsair, 450 watt video PS, EVGA GTX 260 700/1570/1230 mhz. Intel 8400 clocked to 3.8 hhz, 2 seagate 320gb sata drives, WD Raptor 150gb, Antec 900, OCZ 2gb DDR2 1066, 2 DVDRW drives.
