4 out of 5 eggsPretty good

Pros: it works great for music and movies so you can have your flash drive or ext. HDD to do other thing. very reliable. For the price and storage capacity can deal with the speed.

Cons: when you first format it you lose about 6GB not that big a deal but its quite a few songs. not recommended for system backups they seem to take a lot of time compared to similar size data transfer

5 out of 5 eggsVery well made

Pros: As soon as you get it the first step is to do a FULL FORMAT (not quick format), which will take 2 hours depending on the speed of your BD-Burner. Mine took me 50 minutes. Any software that understands Blue-ray disc and can format it is good enough. In my case I already had CyberLink Blu-ray Disc Solution installed, so I just used that to format.

Second step is to burn data, movie or what ever you want to burn into it. Some software don't understand Blue-ray, they are good for burning DVDs. Make sure you have a software that understand and can burn Blue-ray CDs. For an example CDBurnerXP is an excellent free software for burning CDs, and DVDs however it is NOT meant for Blue-Ray. Software like CloneCD (verified), Nero burner (verified), CyberLink (verified) etc.. are meant for Blue-ray burner. You can just search "blur-ray burning software" on google to get more results. I burned a 40GB file using Nero Essential and it took me 45 minutes.

Cons: Cost a lot. TO make it cost the manufactures fraction of the price they are charging.

Other Thoughts: Third step is if you want to erase and burn again then this time do a quick erase (2 mins) and burn again. If the burning fails or takes too long then that means you will have to do a full format from now on every time you want to burn again. For me quick erase worked fine I have a good cheap LG burner.

Fourth step is to keep the media as clean as possible. Even though this media is scratch resistance it is not made out of carbon microfiber.

4 out of 5 eggsBetter Than Expected

Pros: Seems to be the cheapest of the quality brands. 50GB rewritable disc. As a single disc, it has the potential to save you a lot of money. I don't need permanant copies of my movies, I just want to take them out of the house occasionally. I keep them backed up on my hard drive. This is perfect for that. Burn your movie, for me it's 3D Blu Rays. Watch it, erase and start over again. I've rewrited this disc probably half a dozen times so far and each time its perfect. I was using the Optical Quantum brand, but they tend to be problematic in PS 3's. This disc hasn't let me down yet. Good quality disc that plays in the PS3 without any troubles and my Samsung stand alone Blu Ray player.

Cons: Only burns at 2x. Takes way too long to burn over existing data, but if you plan ahead, that's not going to be a problem. 2 hours on the first burn, roughly 4 hours for a full 50GB burn after that, overwriting 50 GB of data.

Other Thoughts: I was skeptical about rewritable discs at first, but it turns out they work as advertised. At least, if you take care of them properly. Rewritable discs fit my lifestyle better than the single burn discs. For the price you can get a lot of use out of this disc. All my burns have been perfect sound, visual and 3D quality.

1 out of 5 eggsCONs - Lots of them

Pros: NONE

Cons: Formats (IMGBURN QUICK)
Appears to write OK, but can't read it back even with Verify. Get's hardware errors on verify.
Happened on TWO of them.
Switching to another brand. (Sony disks work OK in my drive - it's a Sony Optiarc)

1 out of 5 eggs1 out of 3 won't format, no customer service response

Pros: 2 out of 3 were able to format and work like BDRE should. yeah for a 2/3 success rate and me taking a $25 loss for a bad product.

The discs feel nice and heavy-duty, like they *should* be better than the cheaper brands....

Cons: 1 disc would not even format. It hangs at ~51 or 52% (yes it hangs at the layer break)

Verbatim online does NOT respond to customer inquiries. I paid ~ $25 each for these from Japan (before many places in the US carried them). Having 1 of 3 of these not even format is unaccaptable.
Having the company ignore customers is even worse.
They are not going to hold the title of only reliable double layer media in blu-ray as they did with DVD, if their BDRE discs won't even format, and they can't be bothered to respond to or refund customers for bad products.
I used to sell people on the great name of Verbatim, preaching them as a gospel. now I say:
AVOID Verbatim and buy more reliable and much more inexpensive media for Blu-Ray discs. Any random cheapo brand. I have hardly had a single coaster from all the cheaper brands

There aren't many options yet for BDRE50, but when they pop up they can't be much worse than Verbatim is doing, and likely will cost a fraction of Verbatim

Other Thoughts: Verbatim used to be my go-to brand, like so many others, for DVD media, in particular DVD9s.
Then Verbatim started to release "Life Series" and Value junk (rip off that doesn't work even a month later, so costs more and worse than the cheapese DVDs in any store)
Blu-Ray has taken thsi all to the next level. after about 700 BDRs, I have to declare that all my money spent on Verbatims was a rip off. On average they create many more coasters during the burn, and going back later they hold up not even as well as all the brands that cost 1/2 to even less than 1/4 as much. The cheapo brands are giving me more reliable results.

Then enter the BD50s. not so many cheap brands making these, and less still making BDRE 50s. I do have a cheaper brand of BDRE, and they all work perfectly.

With the way Verbatim is making bad products now, and they don't respond to customers, that tells me that they don't back their over-priced garbage, so I put no faith in their blank media now.

2 out of 5 eggsThe second egg is a bonus

Pros: Newegg shipped it fast

Cons: I don't know where to begin with the cons since they each weigh about the same.

Verbatim customer support is so far non-existent. I wrote to them over a week before I clicked buy here and should have taken that for what to expect. Still no response, that's just unacceptable.

I use the Plextor LB950SA (NEW). No issues with the Verbatim 6x BD-R discs, but this disc isn't at all worth a single cent. I tried several different software programs and even via windows itself haha (don't try that). Each test I did with a fresh erased BD-RE DL (this disc). Here are the results using the currently fastest BD burner on the market.
1- 13.5gb via drag and drop technique in Windows = 5.5 hours.
2- 13.5gb using Plextor's packaged "Power2Go" = 1.2 hours.
3- 13.5gb using Imgburn = 1.3 hours.

The 13.5gb I used in each test was earlier burned to a BD-R disc with an additional 9gb (sub folder) in 16 minutes. Being that it was 6x and rewritable discs will always be slow, it's simply not worth th

Other Thoughts: Forget the whole "Save your money" statement. Save your time! To me, time is money and rather burn my data to BDR for now on. In total fairness to the manufacturer, I am waiting a couple of more days for a reply before requesting an RMA-Refund for this BD-RE DL.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: 50GB Rewritable, good for using as backup sets. Verbatim quality and reliability.

Cons: Slow burn and pricey still - one of these days it will come down and then will buy a few more.

Other Thoughts: I had to do a complete erase to fix a problem with the 1st burn. Maxell 50GB rewritable works well too and is another good alternative with the same price range.

5 out of 5 eggsIf you really need one!

Pros: Used it a couple of times and so far it has written without errors.

Cons: 2X is a little slow for so much data but there are not many options.

Other Thoughts: I use an LG WH12LS30 for Burning, W7 64 OS, and usually ImgBurn. Just another thought, I used BD-RE 25 gigs all the time and have found they need to be really, really clean to reburn and I suspect these will be even more so.
