2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed in NewEgg

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM750 750W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Worked well for the time I had it.
Corsair seems to be offering a free repair for the defect in this PSU if you go through Corsair.

Cons: Corsair recalled this PSU in Nov 2013 for lot numbers less than 1340. I purchased it from NewEgg late in March 2014 and received lot # 1338. If you buy this item and are concerned, you can check the lot number on the outside of the box before you open it. It is stickered right above the UPC. Check the first four numbers in a long string.

The reason for my low egg rating is NEWEGG. Generally I have a high opinion of NewEgg which is why this transaction was disappointing.

1) NewEgg shouldn't be selling items that were recalled 5 months ago. This is no brainer. Newegg isn't some 3rd rate tech retailer. They should have a higher bar.

2) When I first spoke to someone at Newegg about this I was told it was impossible for Newegg to determine the lot number before opening the packaging. I work in retail/wholesale I so I know this is nonsense because there is always a paper trail. When I pointed out that the actual lot number was stamped onto the OUTSIDE of the box, Newegg offered to have someone look into the matter and get back to me in 3-7 days.

3) 9 days later after hearing nothing from NewEgg, I still have hardware on my kitchen table waiting in limbo. I already spend $1,500 at newegg and everything is on hold while I waited for this last component.

4) Hearing nothing from Newegg, I contacted them myself and was offered a RMA. It's not at all clear to me that anyone really looked into this matter as I had to explain myself several times to the person on the other side of live chat before I felt I was understood. It's not at all clear to me why someone at NewEgg can't take two minutes to look at the outside of a box and check for higher lot number, but it was clear I wasn't getting anywhere.

5) NewEgg has issued me an RMA, will pay shipping, and will issue me a refund. Chat people were polite and I didn't have to wait too long for them to open a chat window.

Beware that items you buy at newegg may have been recalled.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice!

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM750 750W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Worked out of the box; plenty of cables; fit my case; QUIET!

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Bought this as overkill power supply for a Linux server. Worth every penny. Quiet, even when fans are going - are they going? Yep, but cant hear them.
Stays cool - virtually no noticeable heat coming from the case or unit. Running with Hasewell i5 board, so expected cool and quiet, but worked out perfectly when setup.

5 out of 5 eggsWorked Great for my build

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM750 750W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Nice design, works perfectly with my build which was an LGA-2011 Socket MB.

Cons: Box should have mentioned works with LGA-2011 as well. Mentions being specifically designed for LGA-1150 series but nothing about the 2011.

Pros: Building with this modular power supply was a dream. I really enjoyed working with this setup. Came with all the cables I needed and then some. Being modular really made the build process slick. Highly recommend this unit.

5 out of 5 eggsdurable and love the modular

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM750 750W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I dont know that I would ever buy a non-modular psu ever again. Once youve used something like this in a build, you never want to use anything else.

The cables were sleeved extremely well - no obnoxious red and yellow exposed wires, and plenty connection types for the average to enthusiast level build.

After running a game for several hours, I put my hand behind the psu fan - imagine my surprise - there was barely any heat whatsoever coming off this thing. The fan is ultra quiet.

Although getting a rated psu is more expensive, IMHO its in your best interest. Not only will it last a long time, it is much more efficient at pulling and cleaning power, which means all your parts inside are running happy.

Before buying, I used a "Psu calculator" website to figure out my power requirements. Do that.

My enthusiast build (including a heavy duty gpu and high power firewire card) estimated a 500 watt power draw, including some space for headroom. But having 750 watts gives me peace of mind that I have plenty of space for overclocking and future additions.

Cons: none so far, although ive been grazing the reviews concerned about the RMA's . Hopefully I can dodge that bullet.

Other Thoughts: I am grateful that it came with molex connectors for my firewire card and case/lighting/fan connections.

Incidentally, molex must be the most abysmal connection type ever conceived. I cannot stand working with molex. /end soapbox.

1 out of 5 eggsRecall

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM750 750W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Nice power supply if weren't for recall

Cons: If serial number is 1341 and less Corsair has recall on this power supply. I just received mine from Newegg today 3/18/14 and my units is 1338 . I am just returning it and getting something else don't want the hassle of the recall. Just check the first 4 numbers of the serial number too see if under 1341 it can be recall and send to Corsair. If over 1341 okay ..

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM750 750W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: This thing came in a huge box! So far I love it. I use to be a Silverstone fan but this may change me. I am very pleased with the build quality and the modular cables. I am super happy with this PSU.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing! No hiccups.

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM750 750W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Extremely quiet.
Smooth power.
High efficiency.
Has been running my computer for over 2 months now without shutting down for more than 10 minutes for small maintenance/updates.
Fits extremely well while not being too long.
Here is what I have run this with:
170w Graphics card
70w CPU
3 HDDs
2 Disk drives
5 200mm case fans
And whatever else the motherboard requires.
Overall thats about 570-600 watts and it runs smooth.
I LOVE the auto-fan, it only turns on when it heats up too much, this is great because I am going for a quiet build.
Looks really cool.

Cons: The only small thing I have against this is just a nit-picky thing. The cables are flat, that's it. I just like the look of round cables better, but that's all.

Other Thoughts: My build:
RM750 Corsair PSU
8 Gb DDR3 1600Mhz ram
AMD A6-3620 CPU
1 TB, 500Gb, and 400Gb HDDs
2 dual layer disk readers/writers
