Question 1

What is the story with the caps? On newegg it says 100% Japanese capacitors, but on Corsair website says " Japanese primary capacitors"

I would just like to say I apologize for the delay in my response.  However, this PSU has been extremely efficient and silent!  I am not to sure what the difference is between the 100% Japanese capacitors and the Japanese primary capacitors in the corsair website.  I feel it's safe to assume it would be the same thing.  My friend that is tech savvy mentioned that the only way to find out is to open the PSU, which would break the seal for warranty.  I hope you find the right information needed from this post. will this work with the new broadwell i7 850 ?

This will have more than enough power to support the processor, but the bigger question is what connectors are on the motherboard. That will determine how compatible this will be. I will take a guess and say that you should not have any problems, but you should do the research and make sure the mobo will connect to this PSU.

Question 3

What are all the cords for? Every PSU I've ever bought just has one general cord going from the PSU that splits up at the end. All the cords in that picture are making me dizzy.

This is what is called a MODULAR PSU, meaning that you can connect ONLY the cables that you need to power the hardware in your PC. You are provided with all those cords to ensure you have plenty of options, but most likely you will only need a 4-5 and can store the rest should you choose to expand the system later on with more hardware. This allows you to better manage the cabling in your PC case, instead of having a huge tangle of unused wires like you would Wwith a non-modular PSU. I hope this helps.

Question 4

Probably a silly questions due to this high wattage.  However unlike many PSU's descriptions, this does not specify being SLI ready.  Is there any reason to think this isnt?

My system has a single SLI capable video card, a Geforce GTX 970.  The video card maker recommends a power supply with a minimum of 500 Watts or greater.  I have three unused power PCI cords after having used one on the video card (with two connectors, a 8 pin and a 6 pin).  So I guess it depends on what your system might draw in total power.

Does the USB monitoring cable connect to an internal USB header on the motherboard?

The stock cable it comes with is mini b to an internal USB 2.0 header but if you have no more internal headers you can use just a regular USB A to mini B and plug it in to the external ports on your pc

Please advise: This unit appears to be a  bottom mount with the fan facing downward, am I correct?  Thanks

Mine is mounted to the bottom exactly as it is shown in the picture. the writing is right-side-up.

It draws air from the outside bottom of the case and exhausts into the case.

Would this psu be compatible with a intel i7 6700k cpu?

Very much so - of course it depends on the rest of your rig.. But unless youre doing something crazy elsewhere, this PSU is overkill for any build.

I have a Dell 3847, i7 quad.  Will this fit?

Dell 3487 Are mini towers, if my research is correct. The Corsair RM100i Dimensions are150mm x 86mm x 180mm. This is significantly smaller than the Dimensions of the case DELL publishes on their website (368.3 mm x 177.8 mm x 431.8 mm), so I think it would fit. The only way to know for sure would be to measure the PSU space inside the case.

Question 9

Multi-Rail (8 12v+ rails) advertised as "single" rail, what is your take on it? This PSU has 8 12v+ rails that with a switch can be combined into one.

By default it uses two; the single rail switch is only configurable using the available Corsair link adapter {$59} and the free downloadable software.

Does anybody know if this PSU is compatible with the sleeved cables Corsair sells for the AX and AXi series?

The RM cables are sleeves.  AX cables are completely different, will not even power on if you try.
