5 out of 5 eggs2 years still going strong

Pros: Just works

Cons: Non

Other Thoughts: I bought this two years ago and it's still carrying it's weight, even after two upgrades. All these people with their one egg reviews must be frying them somehow, because I've never had a problem.

1 out of 5 eggsCraps out.

Pros: Decent enough power supply. 800W is usually all anyone needs.. lots of power ends.

Cons: This power supply is now starting to fail after only 8 months. I have power supplies that last for upwards of 8 years because i always just buy 800-1000 watt power supplies... no wonder the ironegg guarantee was only 30 days... guess i should have checked the manufature warranty... but yeah.. now my christmas present for my wife is now shutting down randomly for no reason at all.

Other Thoughts: Make sure whatever you buy its got a warranty on it.

Manufacturer Response:

We have a one year manufacturer's warranty on all of our products. You can do an RMA through us for the power supply to get an exchange on the PSU if you are still under our warranty period. You can contact Apevia's customer service at service@apevia.com or call at (909) 718-0789. We try to reply to all calls and e-mails as soon as we can.

1 out of 5 eggsJust don't

Pros: Made it three months past the warranty period
May not have fried all of the other components
Did not start fire
Arc was very pretty

Cons: Uplugged PC, moved PC, plugged PC back in. Pop, arc, dead. Just outside warranty period. Well played, Apevia.

Other Thoughts: Buy right or buy twice. Only the rich can afford to buy twice.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes The Job

Pros: Quiet, Powerful, Does the job.

Cons: Blue Led cannot be turned off.

Other Thoughts: This is a good power supply for the money, my system draws about 500 watts total and i never has a problem for the year i have had it. I use it just about every day and about half the time it will be under a heavy load. It works for what i need it to do and it was a good purchase for my system.

1 out of 5 eggsUseless

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Smoked up my room immediately, cords were ripped and torn, and it did not turn on.

Other Thoughts: I went to the manufacturer and they sent a replacement, it was basically the damaged item I purchased. I'm not blaming newegg, I'm blaming Apevia.

1 out of 5 eggsPSU Blew Out Under Stress

Pros: Price: It's the best bang for your buck.

Cons: Stability: Literally goes bang. Power supply arced, make a magnificent flash and noise, and proceeded to behave as a very stubborn brick shortly after first stress test of a new system.

Other Thoughts: Buy with risk in mind, or avoid taxing this PSU for any length of time.

Manufacturer Response:

You can do an RMA through us for the power supply to get an exchange on the PSU if you are still under our warranty period. You can contact Apevia's customer service at service@apevia.com or call at (909) 718-0789. We try to reply to all calls and e-mails as soon as we can.

1 out of 5 eggsFry an egg on it

Pros: Cheap?

Cons: I have this PSU in a system with two graphics cards - Radeon 6950 & 7970.

The 7970 consumes about 300W, while the the 6950 consumes about 160W, for a total of about 460W. Aside from the GPUs, there is a single 2.5" platter drive and an AMD FX-6300 CPU, running at moderate load, which should account for maybe another 200-250W.

Altogether, I cannot account for more than 700W of power usage, even under full load. This PSU is supposedly rated to 800 watts, yet it gets *very, very hot*. So hot that my entire house starts to smell like burning electronics. I may have to replace this unit, as I expect this system to run under high load much of the time, and the risk of a flaming PSU seems high to me.
