4 out of 5 eggsSame annoying noise problems as others here...

Pros: Purchased this Feb 28th - 2010 and it's still working. :)
SLI Certified
80 Plus Power Supply

Cons: Well after only a few weeks to a month I noticed an annoying clickity click sound coming from my PC case...dumbfounded I checked to see if it was my graphics card CPU aftermarket heatsink/fan or this Power Supply.

Found out it was definately this Power Supply making all those noises. I removed it from PC then proceeded to void the warranty and took out sum screws to get it half way apart, ended up removing the big circle silver thing that covers the fan on it, which has a bunch of metal circles around them (through it out), and it solved the stupid clicking sounds. (Which I assume are the fan hitting the metal circle guard thingy)

Other Thoughts: I would RMA this one for a different maybe more powerful Seasonic Power Supply, because I still think this Power Supply is a very quality build, just the fan hits the guard thing on about every one of these they manufactured LOL! :D It doesn't bother me.

2 out of 5 eggsBuzzing sound

Pros: Seasonic is known to make reliable power supplies that genuinely perform at their listed wattage. A solid PSU for a modern system, as an affordable price.

Cons: Seems my supply has a defect similar to another review here, it makes a loud, irritating buzzing sound at random intervals for a few moments or many hours. Powering the system down did seem to fix it previously, but no longer. I don't think I'll be able to RMA this to the manufacturer as I broke the seal and opened up the unit to see if a loose wire was hitting the fan, and secured some internal plastic sleeving, however there did not seem to be anything within range of the fan. Indeed, I put a small pin to stop the fan while the humming was happening, and the noise continued, so I assume it must be an electrical issue which is a tad unsettling. Unfortunately, this noise is unacceptable, and I'd hate to have the unit short or catch fire or something equally terrible, so I ordered the modular PSU I really wanted but was twice the price of this one.

Other Thoughts: If you do have this noise problem, I suggest RMA'ing the unit as soon as possible rather than voiding the warranty trying to fix it yourself.

1 out of 5 eggsWaste of money

Pros: It's the same standard size that fits in towers!
It's 550W AND Certified!!!

Cons: -- The Sound and Smell

As soon as I first powered it up it made a continuous high-pitch squeal. This last for maybe 5 - 10 mins and then it quit. Of course that wasn't the last of it. Every now and again, for seemingly no reason, it whirs back up for the same period of time, sometimes longer. A few days ago I smelled what I perceived to be freshly cut grass and thought nothing of it as I had just mowed, but I decided to bend down and smell around just to be sure. It's letting off a terrible smell now when it occurs.

-- OEM
Sadly, this didn't come with the power cord needed to plug in to an AC outlet. Tho this may be helpful for builders?

Other Thoughts: I'd say it was just me, but reading other reviews of the same PSU has lead me to believe that this one is bad news!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat power supply

Pros: Good stable power

Cons: cables are not sleeved

Other Thoughts: Has been powering my system 24/7 for the last few months with no problems. It is a fairly basic power supply because it is not modular, and the cables are not sleeved, but it does the job well.

3 out of 5 eggsMAKE NOISY!!

Pros: It was good powersupply because it works well as I wish.

Cons: BUT it's making noisy like rolling bearing sound!
I was thinking that might from fly but it wasn't from the fly. it's from the powersupply.
I don't know what to do

Other Thoughts: spec:

5 out of 5 eggsSo Far So Good

Pros: I purchased this PSU for the budget build I recently assembled and so far I am impressed. It seems to supply adequate power for all my components with very little voltage variances. It is "no frills" but has solid performance characteristics with plenty of power connections for my needs.

Cons: Because it is an OEM version of this power supply, none of the wiring is sleeved which leads to a bit of a disorganized internal system appearance.
