OverviewCustomer ReviewSpecificationsProduct Tour
An important tip from one of our users: don't just check total power output, find out what you need in the way of current on each power rail. If you need 20 A on your +12V rails and the supply only has 15A, it doesn't matter how many watts the supply puts out: don't buy it. Make certain that you have ENOUGH rails, too: sometimes, you need more than just two +12V rails for your setup.

Replacing an existing power supply is easier: just get a replacement that meets or exceeds the specifications of the old one. (You can usually find those printed on the side of the supply.)

That said, here's a power supply that is compatible with most ATX format motherboards, puts out 600 watts of power (see specifications for exact distribution). Could this be your next power supply?

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Sufficient connectors for sata and pc-e. Unlike the user requiring 20A, I've been using an 8800GTX and play Oblivion for countless hours without issues.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: p5n32-sli premium, e6600 @ 3.0, 2gig ddr2 800mhz Corsair faulty ram, 8800gtx, 320gig raid0, 160gig backup drive

Great PSU

white Reviewed By: Respen on 2/17/2007

Tech Level Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
Pros: Currently running a c2d e6600, bfg 8800gtx system with 2 gigs of corsair xms, 1 hard disk and 3 disk drives without a hiccup. Very quiet.
Cons: Nothing comes to mind.
Other Thoughts: This is more than enough power for any non 8800gtx SLI system. The trend seems to be buying a larger and larger PSU but even this is overkill for most systems.

Great all around performance

white Reviewed By: ryfox0276 on 4/5/2009

Tech Level Tech Level: average - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Works great, powers my 8800GT and e8400 with room to spare.
Cons: none, wish i had bought it from newegg.
Other Thoughts: Works great, better than any power supply I have owned. Prior to buying this one, i bought a 650 watt el cheapo power supply from some random company. Not doing that again! After about a half hour of playing most wanted, crazy colors started appearing on my screen. Replaced it pronto with this one. Dont ever skimp on the power supply, make sure to buy one that is reliable and come from a brand name like thermaltake, corsair, antec, ppc, or others.

decent, but...

Tech Level Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Quiet. Nice design. Plenty of connectors.
Cons: Buzzing while playing games...
Other Thoughts: ... with my new GTX260 video card. Replaced a 8800GTS (which was moved to my HTPC, replacing a 8600) that caused no such issues. I've since read opinions that a high load on some PSU's can cause a buzzing, so I guess I'll get a bigger PSU. This is still a good unit, I'll just move it to the HTPC instead.

Pros: Had this puppy for almost 2 years now and just completed a system overhaul still using this and it rose to the occasion like a champ.
Cons: None seen yet.
Other Thoughts: As far as the complaints about the 12v rails it clearly states that you got 36amps.
