5 out of 5 eggsGood Power Supply

This review is from: Thermaltake SMART Series SP-550PCBUS 550W ATX 12V 2.3 SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Didn't kill my computer. Powers everything and with ample cable length.

Cons: The 8-Pin EPS connector almost didn't reach in my Enthoo Pro Full Tower Case but I was able to stretch it just enough. Also I couldn't power my SDD, HDD and ODD on one SATA harness but I just used the other one and it worked fine.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat while it lasted

This review is from: Thermaltake SMART Series SP-550PCBUS 550W ATX 12V 2.3 SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Quiet, small form factor, good selection of cables included

Cons: Six months in and dead. Powered it off Sunday, came back in Tuesday to power back on and nothing. I know it is supplying low voltage power because it still lights the LEDs on my USB powered headphones, but the fan will not spin up when you press the start button on the case or jumper the start pins on the mobo.

Other Thoughts: Guess I get to test their warranty service now.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
The Smart 550W is backed by a 5 year warranty. Please contact Customer Service and we will have your defective PSU replaced through warranty service.

5 out of 5 eggsNot a bad PSU

This review is from: Thermaltake SMART Series SP-550PCBUS 550W ATX 12V 2.3 SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: It's able to juice up my system no problem, 80 Plus Bronze certified, haswell ready. Very good power supply for the price. I got it at when it was on sale and I was worried I was making a gamble.

Cons: Not really a con but floppy connector is kinda useless these days. Not modular??

Other Thoughts: Apparently some are complaining about rebate processing, I had no problem with it and my rebate was approved.

if you want to know my full system specs, here it is:

5 out of 5 eggsReliable

This review is from: Thermaltake SMART Series SP-550PCBUS 550W ATX 12V 2.3 SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: -Black Cables
-Has all necessary wires needed
-Powers my EVGA GTX 760 SC perfectly
-80+ Bronze
-Cheap 550W

Cons: -Cables are not braided but knew that going in
-Cables are a bit on the tougher side but not a problem at all.

Other Thoughts: I am quite happy for my purchase. I got the PSU for $29.99 (with rebate) so I don't really have anything bad to say about it. Rebate process was a little slow (over 3 months). I have been using this PSU for a little over 5 months now and so far there have been no problems. I would buy from this company again if the opportunity ever arises.

5 out of 5 eggsRebate...... What rebate ?

This review is from: Thermaltake SMART Series SP-550PCBUS 550W ATX 12V 2.3 SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Great Power supply . Super quiet , plenty of power for my gadgets.New Egg got it to me quick and hassle free.

Cons: I read all the reveiws about how difficult the rebate process was , so i was extremely carefull to make sure i sent everything that was required. and today i got the rebate confirmation that was declined . i couldn't beleive it.It said i didn't include my receipt. It seems like they just hope you give up so they don't have to send the rebate ..... not a very good way to do buisness if you ask me ,thermaltake has very good products it's too bad that this kind of stuff happens.

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent PSU

This review is from: Thermaltake SMART Series SP-550PCBUS 550W ATX 12V 2.3 SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I have had 7 of these of the 7 i have lost 0 of them, all are still in service

Cons: long cables and somewhat stiff bending radius's would be nice if they switched over to flat ribbons rather then bunched cables and perhaps release it in a short cable length for like itx platforms

2 out of 5 eggsRebate Resolved?

This review is from: Thermaltake SMART Series SP-550PCBUS 550W ATX 12V 2.3 SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Reasonably good PSU at a good price

Cons: Rebate process

Other Thoughts: This is an update to my previous review. I sent an email directly to Thermaltake, who responded almost immediately promising to push my rebate through and review their rebate
process / provider. My faith in Thermaltake is mostly restored

Too bad I have already spent more than $10 of my time trading emails with the geniuses they employ in their rebate center.

BTW NewEgg did their usual awesome job getting the PSU to me quick and free.

1 out of 5 eggsRebate Scam

This review is from: Thermaltake SMART Series SP-550PCBUS 550W ATX 12V 2.3 SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: PSU is as advertised

Cons: I precisely followed their unnecessarily complex rebate process for a whopping $10. After 30+ days, the rebate was denied for non-receipt of the invoice even though their scanned documents clearly show that they received a hard copy of the invoice.

I have purchased a bunch of stuff from Thermaltake over 20+ years. They just lost a long time customer because I no longer trust them.

Other Thoughts: Thermaltake...Fire your rebate staff / provider and change your rebate process, or stop offering rebates altogether.

4 eggs for a reasonably good power supply at a good price. -5 eggs for participating in a rebate process that is clearly designed to prevent customers from actually getting the rebate they earned.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
We at Thermaltake apologize about the negative experience you have had with the rebate process. The rebate is handled by a 3rd party rebate center and we will review their performance regarding Thermaltake rebates. If there are any issues with the rebate process or the rebate center, please call Customer Service.
