5 out of 5 eggsGood unit

Pros: Worked until December of 2014

Cons: None really, nothing lasts forever.

Other Thoughts: This unit started acting flaky the end of last year. The HDs were getting intermittent power and the computer would fail to boot. Once I realized it's wasn't the drives failing I went to local electronics store and picked up a Corsair PSU.

5 out of 5 eggsEXCELLENT Power Supply!

Pros: Extremely long lasting
Fully modular
Quality cables

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: I purchased this power supply in November of 2008, it is now 2014; and she is still working perfectly. This PSU started out in a Core2Quad Q9550 build with an ASUS Rampage Extreme and 2 RadeonHD 4870x2's. Both 4870x2's began to fail in 2013 so I decommissioned that system from being a gaming rig to being a server. I removed the power supply form it and put in a smaller one. Now this COOLMAX CUG-950B is in my new gaming rig with a Corei7 4770K ASUS Maximus VI Hero and an EVGA GeForce GTX 770 CLASSIFIED. This PSU powers this new system with no trouble at all.

4 out of 5 eggsWonderful Deal

Pros: I had bought this power supply on sale from a local vendor here on the north side of indy for about 40$ less than the price on newegg at the time. BOY WAS IT A DEAL!!! 950 watt power supply, modular, crossfire certified, the whole 9 yards, all for under 100$. I've used in about 4 different builds and never failed me.

Cons: Non Major Brand name, lol.
The last build i built with it was its last. i had hooked it up and turned everything on and was watching a movie and all of a sudden i heard a little pop and started smelling something burning. i took the side of my case off real quick and it was a little smokey. turned everything off and dismantled the whole computer to figure out what had happened. Come to find out the 8-pin connector for the CPU melted the 8-pin connector pins on the motherboard to it. i ripped it all out and returned the motherboard luckily and grabbed another Major Name PSU and havent used it since.

Other Thoughts: Overall a wonderful power supply for what i paid for it, lasted about 2 years with no problems, including through i7's and crossfire 5870's. I would DEFINITELY BUY AGAIN, if i got as close as good deal as i did when i bought it lol.

Last rig used in:
AMD A8-5800K (Stock)
Corsair LP 8GB DDR3 1600MHZ
ASUS F2A55-M Motherboard
Silverstone SST-PS07B Case

5 out of 5 eggsThe Long Test

Pros: I purchased the, " COOLMAX 950W," nearly 3 years ago, It's run for 12 to 15 hours 360 days a year, without so much as a hick-up. The installment, was a snap, and with total Modular cables, there was no clutter inside, to stop air-flow.
I'd gladly get another one for my new build PC, but New Egg is out of stock.

Cons: None at all.

Other Thoughts: One suggestion, Instead of using ," Canned Air ", to keep the PSU clean of dust, Use a good, strong, Shop-Vac, to get all of that dust .

5 out of 5 eggsStill going after 3 years.

Pros: Modular Cables, and cable design.
Steady power.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Modular cables allow less cables, offering better air flow. (less blockage) The cable are stiff and that allows for better forming and placement.
I have OC'd and pushed this hard. It been so good that I will be getting another one for my upcomming addl build.

2 out of 5 eggsMeh.

Pros: The modular wire system is very nice. Can save a lot of space in the case, which is convenient.

Cons: Died after 6 months.

Randomly shut computer down for a week so before finally failing to boot at all. Boo hiss.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Service

Pros: Has powered a few different builds I threw at it without any power issues. (Haven't done sli or crossfire with it yet)

Cons: The fan went out after about 3 years of having it.

Other Thoughts: I contacted Coolmax told them the issue sent them the old psu, they sent out a replacement.

The fact that they still replaced it after 3 years is awesome props to Coolmax.

1 out of 5 eggsCUG 950

Pros: none

Cons: Would power a 5970 and 2 5870's at stock, but it would shut down or the power would dim so low my pc would freeze or reboot when I tried to overclock these cards.
I wound up using just the 5970 and 5870 overclocked. It did fine for about 3 months and then the power was zapped out of this ps. I still use it today with a core2 duo setup and a 285. It will run fine, but any thing other than that will cause rebooting or shutdown.

This ps will not last a long time pushing it hard, so, With that said, you might as well buy a lower watt ps with better build quility and warrenty.
