2 out of 5 eggsBroken USB Cable

Pros: Pros:
Small Size
Built In USB Cable
Nice finish quality/looks (aside from the cable which is CHEEZE)
Takes a 500gb drive no problem
Reliable (well somewhat)
eSATA Connection w/ USB power

Cons: Cons:

Well the reason I bought this thing was it's small size and integrated usb cable and unfortunately the cable broke within a week or two, now I have to use my desktop to use the drive at all (only computer with eSATA).

Other Thoughts: I really liked the small size and the fact I could simply throw it in my bag with my laptop and have access to all my music, movies, game backups etc, until it broke, now it is about useless, will have to buy a different case soon so I can actually use this stuff on my laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: Doesn't need an external power supply. Extremely sturdy design. Handy built in cable.

Cons: USB plug is angled which makes it hard to plug in to some USB ports especially if using a USB port near the one you're trying to use -- also will not work on a USB extension.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent portable enclosure

Pros: I have been using this drive with a Seagate 7200.4 320GB drive for six months . . . it is very handy.

-Very portable. It is as thin as possible for a 2.5" 9.5mm drive and about 1cm longer on either end of the hard drive.
-Wrap-around cable. This is really nice, there is no need to plug in and unplug a cable every time. The cable is durable and has a braided exterior.
-Good build quality. The drive feels solid and is partly made of aluminum.
-Good value - not expensive at all.

Cons: Not a con, but there is also a version of this drive with eSATA, which is much faster than USB 2.0 (provided you have an eSATA port).

Other Thoughts: Highly recommended, this enclosure is hard to beat for the price. I have yet to have a problem in six months of daily use.

1 out of 5 eggsNot very good

Pros: Nice design, blue and red lights look cool. Worked for long enough at a time that I was able to use my drive to install Windows 7 on my netbook.

Cons: Didn't work for the most part. I may have just received a defective one, but it only worked about 25% of the time when I plugged it in. The rest of the time, Windows (tried it on XP and 7 desktops) would not even recognize the drive. It had plenty of power through both USB plugs, but it wouldn't even show it as unallocated space in disk management.

Other Thoughts: It was only $16 when I bought it, so I just counted my losses, and bought a Transcend enclosure instead. It works like a charm. :)

5 out of 5 eggsworks great

Pros: works fine and reliably, i have not had cable issues like other posters but I am careful with it. the cable is short which I like, it hides easily and makes for a clean product.

Cons: none

1 out of 5 eggsBad product but NewEgg rocks...

Pros: Good design but bad build quality.

Cons: The usb cable is build with poor materiel.
The cloth on the cable came off and loosing connection here and there.
And the hard shell is having some poor quality black paint. So scratches all over...

New egg came to the rescue and got full refund. NewEgg rocks...

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice case for the $

Pros: This case is very sturdy and looks really good. It feels like a very high quality case. It is small enough to carry in a pocket, and the usb chord being attached is a huge plus.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Normally, there is a purple light that blinks next to the blue (power) one when the drive is reading. When I plugged into my usb extension cable however, the purple light came on (constant). I'm guessing this means it is not getting enough juice. When I plugged the drive directly into a front USB port, it went back to normal, and I could read data off the drive, and feel it spinning.

4 out of 5 eggsMy Review

Pros: As stated before, the case is small. It comfortably fits in the front and back pockets of my jeans. I had no problem with the device powering up and it worked on the first try. I also like the fact that this case only needs one USB to read and power up, unlike some other cases which require you to plug in 2 USBs to power up.

Cons: One thing that is starting to bug me is that the orange and black fiber wrapped around the USB cord is starting to come off. It is not a functional problem, but if your OCD like me, it starts to bug you after a while.

Other Thoughts: Great product, would buy again. I which I could give it actually 4 1/2 eggs because of the fiber problem I stated above, but alas I can't.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little case for the $$

Pros: Small - barely bigger than the drive itself. Cable is of decent length. Red LED clearly shows I/O (has a blue LED "pilot light")

Cons: None that I can see. Some of you folks are certainly critical. The angle connector is a bit odd, but it helps secure the cable for stowage. The LED is hardly what I'd call annoying, but then I hardly care as long as it gives some indication it's got I/O going on.

Other Thoughts: NewEgg appears to have fixed the confusion between the model that has eSATA ($2 more) and this one - I knew what I was getting.

What I like compared to similar housings with a permanent cable is that the cable is actually a bit longer than others I've used - going a full 3/4 of the way around the shell.

Of the last 3 cases for 2.5" drives I've purchased this one is my favorite so far. A good balance between price / quality / function. Would buy again.

Note: I used it with a 320GB 5400rpm WD drive.

Had no issues with detection both in XP and Vista as well as a boot device.
