1 out of 5 eggsPaper weight

Pros: purchased through newegg

Cons: I bought this enclosure to back-up the data on my old hard drive so I could transfer it to my new drive. My Eagle SATA enclosure worked well so I purchased the IDE version. First time I turned it on, it blew a capacitor on the enclosure board. It also torched the board on my hard drive, would not work when I put it back into my computer. I lost all my music, pictures (6 years worth), and research for my thesis. Eagle customer support was no help, claim that the enclosure will not harm the hard drive.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy Eagle products. Anyone want a SATA enclsoure?
Unlike Eagle, New Egg support is a pleasure to deal with.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Solid case design. Metal construction. Simple setup.

Cons: It would have been nice to be a tiny bit smaller. I think the electronics package inside is small enough that this would have been possible.

5 out of 5 eggsexactly what it says

Pros: it does exactly what it says it will do. I put in a 200GB maxtor hard drive inside this enclosure. have had no problems so far. it works good on both my ubuntu 9.10 computer and my windows 7 64bit computers.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I bought this hard drive to safley have a backup copy of all of my music (35gig's at the molment) for off site storage incase my home gets destroyed and my comptuers are lost (fire, flood, bad storm anything of that sort)

the file transfer speed ranges between 24MBps and 17MBps for me. The enclosure gets worm but never gets hot enough to get worried about even with no fan.

If you want a low cost hdd enclosure to put you're old IDE hdd back to use that is collecting dust this is the way to go. low cost. works perfect. and looks decent on you're desk.

5 out of 5 eggsThis Thing Worked!

Pros: I installed my Western Digital Caviar 80 Gig IDE drive from my old Dell in this enclosure; I didn't change any of the jumpers (set to 'cable select'), hooked it up, turned it on and it's been running ever since. Inatallation instructions were easy and well thought out. What more could you ask for?

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: I am using this on a home built system based on an i7-920 OC'd to 3.2GHz and running Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit. This thing just worked!

5 out of 5 eggsgood stuffs

Pros: simple design. stays pretty cool. bought this to salvage a 160 GB drive out of my old system. easy to install the drive.

Cons: the only thing i found that i wish they changed was the length of the IDE ribbon cable. it's about an inch longer than it needs to be and that makes it somewhat of a pain to cram into the small space there is available.

Other Thoughts: got it a day and a half after i ordered it.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid construction

Pros: Aesthetically pleasing to the eyes.
Enclosure is very solid and simple to put together (4 screws for both side plates).
Internal connections are easy to access.
Kit includes all necessary hardware.

Cons: Internal ribbon cable difficult to bend while installing drive.
On/Off switch is the slide-type vs. rocker-type.
Power cord has bulky "wall wart" vs. cord-dc power supply-cord-AC plug.
No way to safely stack multiple drives.
