4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Didnt blow up on me. Maybe I received the lucky unit. Powers my GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-UD4P, a dvd drive, xfx radeon 4770,phenom 955.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Wish I could piece together my own wires possibly following specifications from enermax. Kinda irritating having to add extra clutter because you dont have 1 sata and ide drive next to each other.

Lets see what the future hold for this PSU. Have used the 500W version of this PSU and still running strong ~3 years

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't last long

Pros: Good value at the time of purchase (over 3 years ago).

Cons: I have had 2 of these power supplies fail on me, both in the same manner in 2 different computers. No damage to the computers, but the power supplies just quit working.

Other Thoughts: I had an original Enermax Galaxy 1000 watt which failed, and Enermax was excellent in getting me a NEW one to replace it. If my 2 Libertys were still under warranty, I'm sure they would have taken care of it.

1 out of 5 eggsJust blew up

Pros: Seemed solid and heavy, worked while it lasted.

Cons: It just EXPLODED!!!!!!! Sparks, flames, loud pops - I only hope it didnt fry my whole computer. Words can't describe how distraught I will be if it did. I bought it in 4/2006, so the warranty is over now. :(

Other Thoughts: I was horrified to come on here and read about everyone else whose power supplies went up and took their computers with it. I had thought Enermax was a solid power supply maker. I'm extremely disappointed I won't have my computer for my Christmas vacation. :((((

4 out of 5 eggsDated PSU, overpriced.

Pros: +Has served me reliably for 18 months. Now it is weak and dated.
+ Was ample 2 years ago.

Cons: + 22 amps per a pci-e rail is problematic for newer gpus. It does have 2 pci-e rails for those that require two 6-pins, but it is still seriously showing its age.
+inconsistent/not stable amp supply for my system.
+ The price is downright outrageous when compared to other reputable brands (149.99 as of this review).
+ I've got to buy a new one -- for only 100 dollars and it offers *double the ampage* to the gpu and modern energy efficiency.

Other Thoughts: I'm shocked this is carried anymore at such a high price. You can get double the amps for a cheaper price with higher energy efficiency from companies such as Corsair.

Anyone who buys this in 2009 is making a very big mistake. The specs just don't cut it for a 2 series Nvidia card and many others. I can't get over the price, it is outrageous.
Q6600@3.18 ghz, 4gb Corsair Ram, Nvidia 275 gtx.

3 out of 5 eggslasted 3 yrs & a month

Pros: Excellent while it lasted (since april 2006), had no idea these early ones had problems. It has always been on a ups, apparently incompatible with some as other reviewers have noted.

Cons: At least just a pop & shutdown, no smoke, fire or burn smell.
All the pc hardware is still good & the ups too. whew
Enermax is a good solid company, have been using their power supplies for years.

Other Thoughts: powered my old system: amd fx-60, dfi cfx3200 mobo, 4gig ocz, ati 1900xtx replaced with 4870.

i7 upgrade in progress.

1 out of 5 eggsEnermax should quit producing these

Pros: Looks good and is heavy. Nice cables. Makes a nice looking paper weight

Cons: After 10 months it blew up thinking it had wiped my whole computer out. Read other reviews where this psu took out motherboards and other components when it blew up. I was lucky it didn't

Other Thoughts: Enermax told me I could send it back to get it fixed because it was still under warranty..............no thanks. Do they really think I'm going to put this time bomb back in my computer case? Nothing lasts forever but the number of these psu's that has blew up is totally unacceptable! Wished Enermax would have gave me an option to trade for a different model power supply instead of getting this plagued model back. The sad part is that their still producing them. The reviews for this product speaks volumes about it's problems

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggsAnother blown Enermax Liberty

Pros: Adequate power for a high powered PC.

Cons: Spark, pop, death after a couple years. I am not even going to bother replacing it. I already have another PSU (different brand) on the way.

Other Thoughts: You can't really fault anyone for buying this PSU years ago. No one knew it had faults. Anyone even THINKING to buy this today needs their head examined. Do not buy this PSU. There are plenty others out there now that are much better and even cheaper.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Value Customer,

Please contact our toll free number 888-778-7878 ext 108 for immediate assistance with this matter. We will do our best to resolve this problem for you, thank you.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU, but this one blew up

Pros: I have always bought and used Enermax PSUs in my builds. They are extremely high quality and the fact that the Liberty line of PSUs allows for selective cable usage and management makes it all the better.

Cons: I give it 4 out of 5 only because this particular PSU fried my Gigabyte EP45C-DS3R motherboard and Q6600 CPU. As soon as I flipped the switch on the PSU, it sparked then it was lights out due to circuit breaker tripping. I believe maybe it was damaged during shipment but needless to say it gave me a hard lesson to learn: ALWAYS TEST YOUR PSUs BEFORE USING THEM LIVE AND HOT WITH YOUR EXPENSIVE EQUIPMENT!! I bought a great Coolermaster LED display PSU tester and will be using that before plugging in power supplies from now on.

Other Thoughts: Newegg's excellent service saw how it blew out my motherboard and CPU and gave me a full refund on all three parts - no questions asked!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU

Pros: Great unit, tons of cables, plenty of options, the plug and play lay out for the modular connectors is awesome, really impossible to mess it up the way they have it designed

Cons: none, super stable on all rails

Other Thoughts: Dont let the size scare you, its worth buying a new case to use these cards, nvidia has out done them selfs just make sure you have 2 of the 6 pin connectors free because it takes doubles of those, this beast sucks down the juice
