Power packed to the core, the ENERMAX Revolution85+ ERV850EWT 850W power supply is ideal for the ultra high end multi-GPU gaming system. It is SLI, CrossFire and Quad Core CPU ready, and will add real boost to your beast machine. This modular PSU is designed to deliver maximum power with minimum heat. Instead of a small fan on the back of the unit, there is a large 135mm fan on the bottom, and the back panel is a minimally obstructive hexagonal mesh interrupted only by the power connector and switch.
The modular design makes cable management easier. The main power cables are permanently attached while all of the peripheral cables all plug into the back of the PSU. The cables are all wrapped in mesh for a cleaner installation.
Six +12V rails ensure a balanced power output for your system no matter what the load. Six 6+2P (8P) PCI-E connectors is featured for PCI Express 2.0 / DXX next generation graphic cards. Ready for the future, the ERV850EWT features four 12P sockets for possibly upcoming new CPU's and graphics with 10 or 12Pin connectors. With its 80 PLUS SILVER Certified, so less energy is wasted as heat or interference, delivering more power to your hungry system!

WOW
- Pros: the fan is big and silent, the unit has an industrial sexy look, modular cables are long enough to reach the bottom of my TT armor full tower case easily.
efficiency is the highest available today in the USA. according to my UPS's wattage meter, now my machine uses only 150w while idle, a big difference from the 300w OCZ PSU used idle in the same PC!!!! this will translate into $150-200 yearly savings on the electricity bill.
the rear led status indicator is a neat idea.
this thing comes with enough cables to power a really monstrous machine!
great service from newegg as always.
- Cons: none I can think of.
- Other Thoughts: a big upgrade from a 700w OCZ GX which died on me after 2 years of 24/7 operation.
physically this is the longest PSU I seen to date, make sure your case is big enough to host it. it's built like a tank.
my PC's spec. is: GB P35-DQ6 mobo Q6600 oc'd @ 3.2 4gb ddr2 800 4-4-4-12, evga8800gts512 oc'd, 5 x seagate 7200.10/11 hdds, 16 channels in/out external sound-card
Best of the Best
- Pros: Quality build
Plenty of power connector Modular design Keeps fans running for 3 mins when PC is shut down
- Cons: Price
- Other Thoughts: My rig setup.
Core i7 920 - D0 stepping overclocked at 4.1ghz Noctua 12P cooler Enermax Revolution85+ - 850 Watt power supply Digital Audio Card Deluxe audio card Kingston HyperX PC16000 6GB Tripple Channel DDR3 memory Asus P6T Deluxe V2 Adaptec 5805 SAS/SATA Raid Card with 512MB Cache and Bettery backup option 4 WD Velociraptor HLFS drives in Raid 5 Config 3 Seagate 7200.12 1TB Drives in Raid 5 Config Ati HD4770 Video Card 2 Samsung DVDRW SH-S223Q drives with custom firmware 7 Noctua 12P fans for interior, to make it more silent than it already is.
The case really fits all of my required hardware to make my Audio mastering rig complete. My Ableton 7/8 mastering work so nicely and PC is super silent on top of it.

Huge-o-max
- Pros: Cr@p load of connection cables. This thing could power a house.
Nice finish and did I mention it came with 10 different cables.
Heavy duty wire bundle.
- Cons: Wires a bit to rugged, felt like wrestling a python to get them to fit in my case.
Lots of wires, except 4- 3/2 pin, for fans.
- Other Thoughts: This thing is a behemoth. I had to drill hole in my case to mount this thing. Run quiet too.
very good
- Pros: I'm running x58, 12gb of ddr3, 2x 4890s in crossfire, 1tb hd, 14 fans, this thing is a beast. I'm using all the non modular cables that come with it, and some. This thing is built like an animal. I have it on the bottom of my HAF 932 and it has been flawless since I purchased it and i still have plently of modulars left over for when i upgrade to 2x 5870's
- Cons: none so far
- Other Thoughts: the texture is real nice, its a ruff sandy kinda texture, and colors go nice with my black/red theme
Cables & Connectors Issue
- Pros: My impression is that this is a very high quality power supply. Engineering & assembly are top quality. Too early to evaluate reliability but I expect it to be as good as the 4 year old Enermax Noisetaker it is replacing.
I'm amazed at how cool this power supply runs. I thought this efficiency craze was all hype. I fully admit I was totally wrong. The Noisetaker put out a lot of heat, especially during gaming. The fan is rated for 700-1500 rpm. It starts up at 610 rpm and I have yet to see it go above 810 during gaming. It's very quiet but unfortunately all the other fans I have make that irrelevant.
- Cons: On the website and in the manual they show a proper 6 pin plug for PCI-E graphics power. But what they really supply is different. The plugs are really designed for 8 pin sockets. The latch is in the wrong place for the 6 pin socket. At first I thought I'd have to break off the latch but I was able to bend the latch far enough to reach the latching point on the socket on the 8800GT. I'm sure it will break off eventually. The least they could have done was provide one or two of the correct plugs but all graphics power plugs were like this, both the "native" (built in cables) and the modular cables.
I had to buy an extra Molex connector peripheral cable through their parts retailer because the don't supply enough.
On one of those supplied Molex connector cables all 3 connectors were so poorly assembled that the pin sockets were locked at a severe angle within the connector. I had to pry each little connector tube to line up with its pin before pushing the connectors together!
- Other Thoughts: Even though the cabling is modular I still ended up with a large bundle of unneeded "native" cables that I had to secure out of the way. I guess someone building a more modern system might use all those cables. After all, this is meant to be a PS for the latest technology.
The reason that I chose Enermax is for the same feature that my 4 year old Noisetaker had. The fan runs for a time after computer shutdown to avoid the sudden heat build right after shutdown. I couldn't find that feature anywhere else. I think all power supplies should have it. This unit has the new status led which I think is helpful. It's so bright that I don't have to peak around the back of the case. It reflects off the nearby wall even in daylight.
