5 out of 5 eggsgood power supply

This review is from: ENERMAX Platimax EPM850EWT 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: all the cable options you could ever need
cable lock - keeps power cable from wriggling out from moving CPU
quiet
very efficient
great bang for the buck

Cons: all power supplies keep getting more expensive
did not have an exact fit as all others have in the past

Other Thoughts: This is one of those things you have to upgrade over time as we add more and more demand to out power supply - video is a big one; all of the USB we now use. I started with a 230 watt for a 486DX33 in 1994, and have had to upgrade with each generation of computing. I do like that power efficiency is thought of, as my system runs 24/7, and it does make a difference over time (I pay the power bill).

5 out of 5 eggsIt's a power supply, it works.

This review is from: ENERMAX Platimax EPM850EWT 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Feels nice to the touch. Appears well-made. Plugged it in, it worked. Supposedly, it's highly efficient. It's quiet.

Zero issues, so far so good

Cons: None so far. Kind of pricy, but then again I was going for quality and durability.

Other Thoughts: Yeah, it's pricy... I'm sick of having junk power supplies. This one seems nice. Spend the money.

This review is from: ENERMAX Platimax EPM850EWT 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Nothing

Cons: Had to go through the trouble of building my computer, find out it didn't work then diagnose it. Stick with Corsair or a winning company.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth Every Penny

This review is from: ENERMAX Platimax EPM850EWT 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Quality, long lasting components. Goes the extra mile by proving separate +12v lines. Most power supplies at this level don't. It means a little extra work for the system builder, because he needs to distribute the components appropriately. However, it provides the extra safety by isolating components from overloads.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsEverything you need and more

This review is from: ENERMAX Platimax EPM850EWT 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: - High quality.
- Great modular design.
- 850W should be more than enough for most computers.
- Energy efficient.
- Comes with more cables than you probably need.
- Comes with a carrying bag for your extra cables.
- Comes with great Velcro straps.
- Isn't too noisy.
- Looks great.

Cons: The price. It's a little expensive, but worth it.

Other Thoughts: Basically, this product is everything you need and more out of a power supply unit. Honestly, this is the computer part that I was most excited about when I ordered my last computer and it didn't disappoint.

5 out of 5 eggsTop of the Line

This review is from: ENERMAX Platimax EPM850EWT 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: This 850W version of the Platimax is a baller. I own the 600W version and it's tip top. This 850W will run 3 high end GTX in triple with no problems. If you're running dual cards then you won't need to go any higher than this.

Cons: Price but you get what you pay for when it comes to Platimax. Upholds the Enermax reputation.

Other Thoughts: They say the 600W and 750W version are disco'd but they sell them elsewhere still. Not sure why the Egg pulled them.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU!

This review is from: ENERMAX Platimax EPM850EWT 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: - Great Modular Design
- High Quality Components

Cons: +2 extra wires on the PCI-E
Also, could have made standard lines modular, as for example I didn't need the secondary CPU power line.

Other Thoughts: Very well built and designed PSU, energy efficient and very worth the money.

5 out of 5 eggsHigh quality

This review is from: ENERMAX Platimax EPM850EWT 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Very high quality unit, though I expected that for the price. I really like Enermax's modular cables, even though they keep changing the PSU-side connector.

Cons: Chassis is about 1.5" longer than your typical ATX PSU. Most ATX compliant cases can accommodate this, but some goofy cases won't. My full tower case has the PSU mounted towards the center, so cable management is a bit more snug than normal.

Other Thoughts: I've been using Enermax since the "Liberty" series (prior to that, I had some bad luck). The first one I bought just recently failed after 6 years of continuous use. It was easily fixed by replacing a poorly-placed capacitor in the standby power rail. A couple of other caps showed signed of distress, so those were replaced too and the PSU put back to work in an older machine. Overall, these seem to be pretty well-made (compared to a lot of throw-away junk out there).
