Silverstone's Decathalon series PSUs are designed to deliver maximum power with stark simplicity. Instead of bumping up the cost and complexity by using multiple +12V rails the DA1000 has 1 extremely robust 80A rail. Active PFC and >80% efficiency rating ensure that no power is wasted.

The power connectors are fully modular. This lets you use only the connections you need. There is a handy carry bag for the extra cables, so you can find them when you upgrade. The cables are all sheathed to de-clutter the inside of the case, enhancing airflow.

There is a 120mm fan on the bottom of the PSU to move extreme amounts of air to keep everything cool. The back panel is a honeycomb mesh broken only by a switch, and the power plug for virtually unrestricted airflow. Go ahead; build the system of your dreams, the DA1000 can handle it.

  • newegg 1000W Continuous Power A continuous power of 1000W delivers safe, reliable output for even the most extreme computer systems.
  • newegg Highly Efficient Delivering more than 80% efficiency, the Silverstone DA1000 power supply saves energy and may even reduce your electric bill!
  • newegg Efficient Cooling A 120mm ball bearing fan plus hexagon cutouts increases overall airflow in the power supply enclosure and helps remove heat from the chassis simultaneously.
  • newegg Supports Three VGA Card System Featuring two 8/6-pin and four 6-pin PCIe connectors, the Silverstone DA1000 supports up to three high-end graphics cards for extreme gaming systems.
  • newegg Modular Cable Management The modular cable design allows use of only the cables you need resulting in improved internal airflow and reduced system clutter.

5 out of 5 eggsPowe-Up

Pros: Great power supply; runs fairly quiet @ moderate temperatures. It's not on nvidia's list, but it gets the job done (as Silverstone states it will on their site). And I like the way the do the PCIe 8+6 pin connections on one line.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Powering two GTX 295's heavily OCed as well as an i7 920 OCed to 4.34GHZ. These as well as a water pump, 3 SSD's, 2 DVD Players, 7 fans, a few lights and a # of other small accessories. I've been a Corsair fan for a while now, but now they have to compete with Silverstone.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Very high quality built PSU. Silverstone is a leading manufacturer of power supplies. This is powering 2x ATI 4870x2 video cards, a QX9770, 8GB RAM, 6HDD's, and a handful of high-power fans, including a CoolerMaster V10 TEC cooler without breaking a sweat. Completely silent, I cannot hear this over myself breathing. 100%'s a no-brainer.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I have built over 140 computers using Silverstone power supplies, ranging from low power 350-400 watt all the way up to 1500 watt...not one of these PSU's was DOA, and none have had any issues that I'm aware of. Silverstone customer service is the best available.

1 out of 5 eggsit worked...for a few minutes

Pros: 1000watts, single 80amp 12v rail, modular, sleeved cables, SLI Ready (supposedly, according to newegg's product title/description, more in "Other thoughts").

Cons: Died within the first few minutes of booting up a new build for the first time. Good thing I was not flashing the BIOS, just looking around in it. I tried hot-wiring the PSU just verify if it is really dead or if I'm just experiencing user-error. Well, it is verified-the PSU is dead. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the DA1000 didn't kill anything else when it died. RMA'd the unit and ordered a different PSU (more in "Other thoughts").

Other Thoughts: The product description says "SLI Ready". Checking reveals that it is not, at least not for dual GTX285's. Even the product page in SilverStone's website does not mention the DA1000 as being SLI Ready/Certified.

I'm ordering a Kingwin ABT-1220MA1S to replace the DA1000.

5 out of 5 eggsThis is a whopper of a PSU

Pros: This is a rather large PSU for people that are going to go the extra mile and expand their system in the future. It has all the necessary connections for what ever is out there right now and for at least a few years to come. The single 80A rail is a great design and the modular connections are great. It has both 4 and 8 pin MoBo connections and 2 eight pin PCI-E and 4 six pin or six 6 pin PCI-E connectors to run whatever setup you may have. Rather silent as well, I actually here the CPU fan more than this large fan.

Cons: Doesn't cook my eggs right!

Other Thoughts: BUY THIS PSU, I said so!!

Silverstone makes great products and are great to their customers, support them.

5 out of 5 eggsBest PSU I've ever used.

Pros: -Single rail with 80AMPS!
-Packed with enough cables for the most extreme system
-100% modular
-Crossfire and SLi ready

Cons: -Runs warmer than other 1000W PSU
-Price. You can get a PSU with the same features for less
-Only 120mm ball bearing fan should be 140mm

Other Thoughts: This is a very good PSU, I have not had any problems. This is powering:
Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3.6Ghz + TRUE 120 in PUSH/PULL configuration

Crossfire 4870 X2 (4GPU's)

4 Yate Loon 2500RPM 40dBA 88CFm + One 140mm 1500RPM 20dBA 74CFM

8GB Corsair Dominator PC2-8500 1066MHz (4x 2GB)

1Western Digital Caviar SE 320GB
1 Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB
1 Seagate Barracuda 1.5TB

Supreme FXII Sound card

@ Full load 800+W.

5 out of 5 eggswow!

Pros: Monster 12v rail of doom! WOW! got this on combo with a sapphire HD4870 1 gig card. yea i know... sounds like overkill! but I already had 2 of those cards in my system and needed the power to push a third! seen the combo and fell in love! 40 bucks off! This thing has power to spare even with my 3 monster vid cards. My bios reads the 12v rail at 12.38V, with all 3 cards! more than enough to go around.

Cons: None i can think of, it wasnt as big as I thought it would be.

Other Thoughts: My dad knew I wanted a third video card so he flipped the tab on the combo deal with this psu. Upgraded from a PC power and cooling 750w silencer with a single 60amp rail.... this psu was ONLY 20 bucks more than what I paid for my old 1 !!! This is a must have for a multi GPU system. And I am not talking about 2 vid cards. Power like this is for 3-4 Vid cards. But for the price go ahead and future proof yourself!

5 out of 5 eggsThe real deal

Pros: Completely modular. Quiet. Rock solid rails under load. Frankly, the best PSU I have ever owned.

Cons: Incomplete sleeving of the wires, which is not a big issue if you have agood cable management. Only 6 sata cables....I've only got one left now.

Other Thoughts: Replaced a Corsair 1000HX with this thing and I don't regret it. Corsair had some flaky voltage readings under load. Have this powering a core i7 system clocked to 3.8 Ghz with 2 GTX 285 GPU's and 2 RAID arrays all in a Lian Li PC-A70B.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat a Monster!!!

Pros: This is an eggcelent PSU, i could not believe how quiet it was when powered up. 80 AMP 12v Rail!!! great size, 80% efficient, and enough plugs to power any thing you can throw at it. If you don't use the 8 pin cpu cable it can be replaced by 2 6pin pcie connectors with the provided cable for a total of 8 PCIE 6 Pin or 2 PCIE 8pin. 100% modular makes instillation easy,, i installed it in my Thermaltake matrix without removing my Zailman 9700 nt (which is huge)

Cons: its a little pricey but its defenently worth the extra for this psu instead of those other multi-rail POC PSU's. Kind of Large, but its designed for a high performance pc not a compact pc

Other Thoughts: current system:
MSI K9A2 Platinum
AMD Phenom 8450 oc 2.5Ghz
2x2Gb Corsair Dominator 1066
XFX Radeon HD 4870 1GB
WD Velociraptor 150GB

4x2Gb Corsair Dominator 1066
4x XFX Radeon HD 4870 1GB
WD Velociraptor 150GB

5 out of 5 eggsTough, stable, decent support

Pros: I'm a bit of a single-rail evangelist, and this PSU is on a very short list of single-rail designs at this output level. 80 AMPs on the 12v rail is just amazing. I have two overclocked GTX-280 cards, a large liquid cooling pump for CPU+SLI, 6 disk drives running two separate arrays, and 1 DVD and 2 Bluray drives... plus the system is heavily overclocked (i7 3.8 GHz)... this PSU doesn't blink at what I've thrown at it. Also, this PSU is *amazingly* quiet... Its good to see a large low RPM fan rather than a screaming 80mm Delta... With this PSU, my system is almost silent (thanks to H2O cooling). With a sound meter set to slow averaging mode at its lowest range (50db), the meter doesn't register anything at 10cm outside the case. At fast averaging mode, I get 55db short blips but they correspond when the disk drives seeking tracks... unreal... For the fact that the LEDs in my case light up, I can't tell the PSU is there at 1 meter.

Cons: Very small nitpick: I've had 1 cable failure (impacted pin). Silverstone support was very good to get this corrected however. It was a good test for their support/warranty however and they passed nicely.

Other Thoughts: Not a con, but you should be very careful to measure your available PSU space before ordering this. This PSU is longer than what you're probably used to if you're stepping up from.

In the past year I've gone from 0 Silverstone PSUs to 4! I've got three DA1000's and one DA700. They seem very well behaved on their output, and are very efficient on their input (verified with a Power Angel). BTW, a big factor for buying units 2 through 4 was their support. Call me nuts, but I like when companies stand by their products :-)
