4 out of 5 eggsgood, get a y-power/data cable

Pros: for the price, its a good deal. I have found that 'most' usb ports (or powered hubs) will power a 5400 rpm drive with the USB cable alone, for 7200 rpms or weaker USB ports, I strongly suggest getting a USB Y power/data cable so you can get some more current to the drive.

Cons: its not exactly built the best, I would not suggest keeping in a laptop bag, but for a desk or game console it should be fine

Other Thoughts: save yourself some headache and get a y power/data cable or use a powered USB hub to get some more current to the drive, this will also make it more reliable for backup use and will keep from overdrawing your laptop USB ports or game console ports.

1 out of 5 eggsStopped working after 3 months

Pros: Nice looking case

Cons: Seems pretty Flimsy.

Case stopped working after 3 months. The computer does not even notice that it is plugged in.

Cannot even get a reply back from the company. I have been trying for 2 weeks now.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Among the less expensive options (though not the least expensive).

Cons: Drive doesn't seem to fit quite right in the enclosure. It moves around, hitting the sides when I move the enclosure. Drive is sometimes not recognized by windows when I plug it in.

Also doesn't quite fit on the dock. I've tried every angle and pushed just a little harder that I was comfortable with.

Other Thoughts: Didn't really get it specifically for the dock, so that didn't bother me much. Really would prefer the drive not move in the enclosure and that it would consistently be recognized when plugged in though. Seems a pretty cheaply made item, but ultimately does what I wanted it to, just not quite as solidly.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Good looks, easy to install drive

Cons: Poorbuild quality. The drive will not plug into the supplied stand. More importantly, when I skipped the dock and plugged the drive in directly with the supplied cable, the access light flashed continuously and the drive was never detected by the OS. I've tried it with two different drives and on three separate PC's with the same result, so I have to assume the enclosure is dead.

Other Thoughts: Here's hoping the return process is relatively painless.

2 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: Cheap. Holds a 2.5" hard drive. Did I mention cheap?

Cons: You have to angle it just right to get the dock to actually take the drive.

Cheaply made.

Screws threaded with little to no effort.

Other Thoughts: At this price point I got what I expected. Probably will pay a bit more and get something a little better next time.

4 out of 5 eggsNot the best, not the worst

Pros: Docking station, bigger screws than many 2.5 external enclosures, led's that aren't annoyingly bright.

Cons: Much bigger than several of my other 2.5 enclosures, HD hangs off the PCB board with no other support than the 2 screws securing it to the board. Has lots of space between the drive and enclosure which is not conducive to good heat transfer.

Other Thoughts: Bought this for a nephew who has been having HD issues with his laptop, so he can backup important files and not lose them if his HD in the laptop dies for the 3rd time. Put in one of my old drives and it has a lot of space between the drive and the enclosure which means the drive is hanging off the board with no real support other than the two screws securing it to the board(deducted 1 egg for this). This could be trouble since my nephew isn't famous for being careful. However, if he keeps it in the dock and only uses it to back up files and not carry it all over it should last.

5 out of 5 eggsGood quality, love the price

Pros: Accepts my 640gb drive fine. Don't let the low price discourage you, this enclosure does just what it is supposed to do and looks good too. Fits in my jeans pocket. Very handy and it's nice to know I have portable storage I can take along with my laptop. The manufacturer claims it will take any size drive and I believe them. Very easy to install a drive. I love it.

Cons: The dock is unnecessary clutter. Fortunately the package includes a separate USB cable.

Other Thoughts: You can get more expensive drive enclosures if you need extra features but I don't. If you need a quality, basic unit that's super portable for a low price look no further.

4 out of 5 eggsBetter than I expected.

Pros: - Solid, well built case. Not cheap plastic.
- Panel screws into the front with larger screws, not the tiny ones on the side.
- The circuit board even has two screw holes to secure it to the bottom of the hard drive! First time I've seen that. Good idea.
- It was detected by Windows 7 quickly and without drivers.
- Comes with a nicely balanced docking station as well as an extra USB cable. "Balanced" meaning it doesn't tip over easily when you put the drive in it.
- The dock also has a blue LED on the front.
- Some of my other external cases also fit the dock. The cases with the rounded sides will fit. Bonus!

Cons: - Be careful when docking, it is not a quick fit. It requires a little wiggling to line up the port.
- Would have been nice if it came with at least a cheap sleeve.

Other Thoughts: Seriously, for what I paid, this is a no brainier. There are junk cases without a dock selling for more. Even without the dock, this is a GREAT price.

At first I was a little weary of Link Depot brand, but I am very satisfied so far.

4 out of 5 eggsstill works

Pros: i put my old PS3 80GB drive in it (after replacing that with a 320GB notebook drive). The stand also holds, almost perfectly, a HTC Droid Eris smartphone! Just stick a small piece of paper near the base, or wrap a rubber band around the base of the smartphone to make it fit perfectly.

Cons: none: still working several months in.

Other Thoughts: 6 months and we still use it. I like using it to hold my droid Eris when using Pandora or Sirius android app on the living room home theater system.
