1 out of 5 eggsPower supply

This review is from: FirePower ZX Series 1250W 80Plus Gold Fully-Modular High Performance ATX PC Power Supply ZX1250W, Formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: Lots of Power

Cons: Lasted only 3 1/2 years
Sorry but for the money I paid for this power supply and it having very little demand I feel it should have lasted a lot longer and yet I find myself having to replace it.

2 out of 5 eggsGood Tech Support, Bad Tech

This review is from: FirePower ZX Series 1250W 80Plus Gold Fully-Modular High Performance ATX PC Power Supply ZX1250W, Formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: Customer support was very helpful through e-mail. Their website was very easy to navigate to determine how to remedy the issue. It included multiple troubleshooting techniques (some at a higher than normal knowledge level) that were easy to understand.

Cons: My knowledge of the inner-workings of power supplies is far inferior to the rest of the computer (they might as well run on magic). I can't say if it was DOA or something in my system or house caused the problem. But when i powered on my system for the first time (after reading and following the MB and power supply manuals) I heard an audible click which i assumed to be some sort of fuse inside the PSU.

Followed the troubleshooting techniques on the manufacturer's website, sent it in for repair/replacement, same thing happened with the next two attempts.

I couldn't tell if OCZ sent me a brand new one or a repaired power supply, so i can't say if it was a faulty repair or not. But I can say that when I re-installed my old power supply, my system powered up right away.

Other Thoughts: I ended up putting the power supply back in the box and sticking it in the back of my closet. Not worth my time to keep shipping it back to the manufacturer and risking damaging components on my system.

I want to mention that I was replacing an 850W PSU for this one (1250W).

2 out of 5 eggsNOISY!!!!

This review is from: FirePower ZX Series 1250W 80Plus Gold Fully-Modular High Performance ATX PC Power Supply ZX1250W, Formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: Does what any good power supply does and has been solid for the most part. But....

Cons: Very annoying coil while at high load and may be the reason some games crash a few minutes in. After working closely with EVGA premium tech support to determine if the problem is the 3 evga titans the Evga SR2 motherboard or the power supply, we narrowed it down to the whiny little ocz zx 1250watt power supply. I tried contacting OCZ for support and RMA but they NEVER answer phones or reply to emails or support tickets. Not happy with OCZ right now...

Other Thoughts: A+ certified IT Technician working in the biz for many years now.... I think I have earned the right to call OCZ out....

Manufacturer Response:

Dear BTG,

I am very sorry you have noticed coil whine between the ZX1250 and your 3 GTX Titans. Both the ZX1250 and the Titan(s) are great products - if the issue is originating from the ZX1250 OCZ will definitely assist and replace it if necessary.

It is possible you have contacted us or created a support ticket over the holiday observance period where just like EVGA, OCZ operates limited support hours. I am happy to assist you with this and will gladly expedite your support ticket (RMA) request. Please contact me using the email address provided below and provide the following information:

After providing the requested information I will do whatever possible to bring this to a swift resolution. Thank you for your purchase and for sharing your feedback.

This review is from: FirePower ZX Series 1250W 80Plus Gold Fully-Modular High Performance ATX PC Power Supply ZX1250W, Formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: It was a nice fully modular power supply.

Cons: 3 out of 4 of these have failed either completely or don't produce enough voltage to fire up the machines.

Other Thoughts: Based on our experience with these and OCZ's SSD's I would not recommend any OCZ product at this time.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent high-capacity supply

This review is from: FirePower ZX Series 1250W 80Plus Gold Fully-Modular High Performance ATX PC Power Supply ZX1250W, Formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: High power rating.
Mod cables are sleeved - black.
OCZ Support very good.

Cons: The socket for the power cable came loose from tension on the cable. I contacted OCZ support and they easily sent me a new unit as a replacement. As a loyal OCZ customer over many years, I will continue using their products because I know that their support staff care about the customers and keep me coming back for mooooar.

Other Thoughts: No lights or LEDs (personal preference).

1 out of 5 eggsskip it

This review is from: FirePower ZX Series 1250W 80Plus Gold Fully-Modular High Performance ATX PC Power Supply ZX1250W, Formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: A lot of power when it works

Cons: Owned it for less than a year . Computer completely shuts off randomly. Tested and narrowed it down to the Power supply.

Other Thoughts: Ocz will not honor their 5 year warranty without a receipt. The product has not even been on the market for 5 years. I'll stick to companies that honor their warranty from now on.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Anonymous Consumer,

There seems to be a misunderstanding here. OCZ will honor all valid warranty claims. An original sales receipt or valid copy of the receipt is required to establish purchase date and original purchaser. You can easily obtain this by logging into your Newegg account and printing a copy. You can also take a screenshot or scan it then send it to us for verification. If I can help with this please contact me at the email address below and I will assist.

Kind Regards,

4 out of 5 eggsSolid PSU

This review is from: FirePower ZX Series 1250W 80Plus Gold Fully-Modular High Performance ATX PC Power Supply ZX1250W, Formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: This is a great PSU for any build, No problems yet.

Cons: The 24pin is a little thick around the connector... Don't bend it too much there is a large capacitor under the heatshrink!.

Other Thoughts: Recommended.

2 out of 5 eggsShort lived

This review is from: FirePower ZX Series 1250W 80Plus Gold Fully-Modular High Performance ATX PC Power Supply ZX1250W, Formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: Fully modular, All sleeved cables, Great packaging, looks real pretty in my case.

Cons: Noisy, some cables don't make full pin contact (that's a fun one to chase down ) . if you are using a large mid or full case , better plan on extensions ... I.E. short cables. It lasted less than 12 months

Other Thoughts: I have a very expensive , good looking paperweight , RMA would mean a month down time minimum. I'll just buy another brand and save the headaches . **AVOID **

four 2gb DDR2 OC @ 1066mhz sticks
Core 2 Quad Q9550 OC @ 3.4 mhz
one DVD/RW drive
