5 out of 5 eggsAll thumbs up!

Pros: I've owned this power supply for two years now, going on three; it's been nothing short of fantastic. The build quality is great, nice to see a company actually using single-sleeved cables from the start and not having the customer have to obtain those as an upgrade at extra cost.

Cons: I'm really picky with my products I purchase and I have to say I have no cons with this power supply.

Other Thoughts: Not a con but perhaps in the future they could release a newer model that's fully modular instead of partially.

2 out of 5 eggsNot Stable

Pros: It is a really good design for semi-modular, which is what I wanted. Works fine when idle. It still works.

Cons: The PSU will randomly turn off the whole computer and restart when playing games. Some games I play there is no issue, though the random shut off can be very troublesome.

Other Thoughts: I wish I never bought this PSU.

2 out of 5 eggsFaulty Under 2 Years

Pros: Excellent aesthetic and seemingly sturdy build quality.
The cables are amazing, better than even the new EVGA ones. No problems for about a year.
Still works fine when just powering a computer that is not doing anything.

Cons: After a year of use:
Once you kick your computer into gear, there's a good chance your entire system will click off and then reboot. Whether the power supply is not supplying enough juice to the CPU or GPU, I'm not convinced.. but always get the kernal power loss error after each crash.

It got so bad, I crashed 28 times in one hour.. then, I decided this power supply was finally toast.

Other Thoughts: My computer is running a 4790K and GTX 980 so my power draw is way under 1000W, yet this thing can't keep up. Here I thought I was making an investment when I bought from OCZ... I was wrong :(

Looking to the Future... EVGA claims they have a 10 year warranty on their power supplies... tempting

3 out of 5 eggsgood performance while it lasted

Pros: Individually sleeved cables, neat design with red accent LEDs that fit into my theme, still going strong since oct 2012. Modularity.

Cons: this psu have had multiple GPU generations of upgrades. From R 7970, to dual r 7970, gtx 760s Sli, to r9 295x2. So i recently just upgraded to the R9 295x2... So that card alone is one of the most demanding GPU out on the market right now. So i've been experiencing problems such as spontaneous shut down without BSOD. multiple times while i played games have this happened. So i am currently in the process of RMAing the GPU but i highly suspect that it is this PSU that is starting to slowly dying.
Right now i swap it for a single gtx 760 which TPD isn't so high at all. and that has been working fine for me. Once i get my RMA r9 295x2 back I will test it out with my friend's PSU

Other Thoughts: overall nice design and aesthetics but for this psu being gold rated it should last at least 5 years or more!

3 out of 5 eggsCoil Whine

Pros: - PSU always did/does its job
- Lots of cables
- Very neat and comes with a lot of accessories

Cons: - HORRIBLE HIGH PITCH COIL WHINE after 2 years and 4 months of ownership
- CPU cable is a bit short...

Other Thoughts: It's been over 2 years and it JUST started producing this whine. Right after I got a new CPU and GPU. Coincidence? I dont know...

I will get in touch with OCZ/Toshiba and see if there is anything that can be done about this. Highly unlikely, but worth a shot.

Maybe they'll give me a break because I bought two OCZ Fatal1ty PSUs in my lifetime... 1000W/750W.

1 out of 5 eggsStuck in Limbo

Pros: Thought it had a decent price. Had lots of power, But...

Cons: Starting to short out after 9 months of moderate use. It will looses all power after a few minutes of gaming. Right before this started happening, it also developed a serious coil whine while playing these same games that now cause it to crash.

Other Thoughts: I have gone to the OCZ support site, to try and claim an RMA ticket. Response below.

"Unfortunately, we cannot process RMA requests at this time. OCZ has recently been purchased by Toshiba. During this transition, certain department activities have been temporarily suspended. We are currently transitioning the power supply department and unfortunately, we cannot process PSU RMA requests at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience. Normal RMA procedure should resume soon. We appreciate your patience in this matter.

We will contact you when the transition is complete and your request can be processed. "
I would have liked to just assumed that I got a bad one and gotten an exchange, but the fact I have to wait an undisclosed amount of time for them to "transition" the department, makes me feel like I am getting... you know what.

If this ever gets resolved I will try to update my review, but for now 1 egg for product reliability and customer service FAIL.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Kilowatt Gold - That is why you clicked on it right? Those two words mean a lot to a custom build

Steady Power - Hooked it up to my PS tester when I first got it (why screw it in if you'll have to RMA it?) and got very steady on-spot numbers. That doesn't reflect load voltage, but it is a good start.

No fires in 5 months - We all read reviews of power supplies where someone plugs it in, it smokes, pops, and makes a nasty smell, can't blame them I'd write a nasty review to, but not here. And let's be honest, fires are only good if you're selling matches.

Individually braided cables - I know a fair number of people don't like them, because they're looser, and thus inhibit slightly more air, but they can be repaired, and more importantly they make tucking unused cables and plugs into an unused dvd drive ridiculously easy.

Fully Modular - Yes, a PCIe 6 and 6+2 is hard-wired, but why are you buying this if you're not using at least one gpu? If you don't need those connectors you can buy a 500 watt gold at around one-quarter the price, so consider that.

Cons: No Molex-SATA-Molex-SATA wire. I've seen these in other modular power supplies, and have done several builds with always-on molex powered fans, and a couple of hard drives. Not a huge deal, suppose one could use adapters, or the two different wires as I did, but it adds wire clutter, and know that as you're designing your order. There are a bunch of molex cables, not sure what I'll ever do with those, also a bunch of SATA cables, those I could see using if I decided I needed enough drives.

No dust covers on the modular plugs. Again not a huge deal, but something I've seen on other modular power supplies and a nice touch. If you're like me you're buying this power supply to grow into. You might buy a gpu with it, but then a second a couple months later, and a third six months after that. Given that you're paying a fair amount for this box, and at least a couple hundred for each card, is ten cents of molded plastic to protect that investment asking too much?

Red LEDs - Like painting flames on a car I'm not sure what the point is, and if there is no point, then why bother putting them there?

Nothing here that's worth an egg, but these are the thoughts I would pass to an OCZ engineer.

Other Thoughts: The price has changed quite a bit since I picked it up. I don't know if it's what I would buy today, but I'm satisfied with it, and wouldn't mind having one or two more around.

1 out of 5 eggsDONT BUY.. RUN AWAY!

Pros: Red LEDs, With match your computer nicely

Cons: Everything else, This item has been RMAed 2x now. The first time the PSU worked for about A year. The 2nd one they sent me did not work out of the box.

1st PSU , Worked for about A year. My computer screen would go black and lock up when I was playing some games, very rarely . Then it started to Artifact. I assumed my GPU was going bad. My GPU was RMAed and replaced with A new GPU. However my computer was still doing the same thing. After hitting up some forums, I replaced the PSU with A older GPU and everything worked ... Magic right ?.

I RMA-ed the that PSU.

They replaced it with A bran new one, YEA!!! ..
2nd PSU
I did not install it for about 4months ( I am disabled and it is very hard to rewire your computer when your hands dont work well, However for Xmas I got A few more computer parts, So i was going too do everything then.)

I have everything installed, Very nice and clean looking.
I turn on the comp and their is A very HIGH PITCHED BUZZING coming from my comp, I check all the fans. and wires ect ...dont see anything .... and the sound goes away. I go back to computer launch Chrome and the buzzing come back way more strong. ... I can now tell its coming from the PSU. I try a few other things look in the PSU threw the fan. I see nothing odd.

I launch Word of Tanks .. the sound kills out the buzzing for the most part...but when their is no sound you can hear it.. But then I get Artifacting !!!!. My computer was just working with the old as PSU .. but the bran-new OCZ ... Nope...

Other Thoughts: Do Not buy this. I am now 0 for 2 on these. I have no Faith in OCZ.

Remember When you have too RMA this PSU you will have too pay to ship it too them, Shipping this is not cheap, it weighs over 8LBS in all, also they wanted it packed their way or they will not accpet it, that will add too the weight. It cost me $36.87 to ship it to them one time! I am going too have to do it again .. I have paid almost $80.00 too have them send me a working unit.

On another note OCZ declared bankruptcy do you really want too buy something from someone who is DEAD !!!!!. google OCZ declared bankruptcy
