4 out of 5 eggsNice but there's a catch

Pros: Looks nice and rugged. Enclosure is made of extruded aluminum.

Cons: Please note: This enclosure DOES NOT have an eSATA port. The port is the standard SATAII used on hard drives and such. You will need to purchase or use a SATA cable for this but it does come with an adapter for computers that have an eSATA port.

Other Thoughts: Kinda wish the listing was more specific about this technicality.
There is a difference between SATAII & eSATA connectors.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent, Durrable, Easy-to-Use

Pros: Well built, protects the drive from pressure and shock. I regular check these drives on flights w/o further padding. They have always survived.

Cons: Expensive, but really worth it. The nice MacAlly drives all use little rubber bumpers INSIDE the case. These help with shock and noise.

Other Thoughts: The rubber bumbers as spare parts from MacAlly are just 5 dollars. If you leave these twisted into your drives, you can switch drives in a few seconds. The drive will just lift in/out with no tools.

5 out of 5 eggsGood looking, easy to use enclosure

Pros: SATA inside and out, with USB 2 available as a fallback. Comes with SATA and USB cables. Very sleek enclosure at a decent price.

Cons: Provided SATA to SATA cable with eSATA adapter - would prefer a SATA to eSATA cable.

Other Thoughts: I bought this and a Seagate Barracuda SATA drive at the same time. Installation is a snap - LOVE the SATA cable (as opposed to IDE). I've bought MacAlly enclosures before, and they are consistently good quality.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Excellent build quality; quiet (with Seagate 7200.10 drives); Good Looks

Cons: Doesn't spin down when idle. The 100AC (IDE drive) spins down when left idle.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding Quality

Pros: Great Quality, Sturdy Construction, SATA 3.0Gb/s hard drive support.

Cons: no Firewire support

Other Thoughts: This is a great enclosure. I highly recomend it! I Don't know why the person rated it a 3/5 just because it didn't have eSata. It doesn't say anywhere that it does. I find the SATA useful, as my desktop does have it.

3 out of 5 eggsSATA --not-- eSATA!

Pros: Typical MacAlly case (i.e. nice, solid, etc.)...

Cons: The external connector is a standard SATA, NOT eSATA! Very annoying! Why do companies do this?

5 out of 5 eggsSatisfied

Pros: I matched this with a WD320GB SATA 3.0gb/s HD and it seems to work perfect. Assembly was a snap. After formatting the drive my system recognized it right away. No connection issues. No heat issues.

Cons: None
