4 out of 5 eggsBatteries - Great; packaging not so much

Pros: The Powerex batteries are quality products. I have ordered and used about 44 Powerex batteries (in both AA and AAA sizes) over the past 4 years.

Cons: The 8 AA rechargeable batteries came inside of a plastic case, as described. This case was shipped via USPS in a 7" x 11" paper mailer with a small bubble wrap interior. This is not sufficient protection for the plastic case. The batteries arrived in good condition. The plastic case was so damaged that it had to be thrown away. This is the second vendor who has used this style of packaging to ship the product. In both cases, the plastic cases were broken. Recommend that a corrugated box be used to protect the item.

5 out of 5 eggsMaha PowerEx AA

Pros: I read some of the bad reviews and notice that newegg is a little off with the description. As the manufacturer site states that these will last hundreds of charges, and no where do they state that they behave like low self discharge batteries, which retain up to 85% charge after a year on the shelf. Other Recommendations need to be made when considering 2700mah batteries as well. Such as, not all chargers are capable of charging that high. Even Maha makes a 1 hour fast charger that stops at 2000mah for AA's. You need the mh-c9000 analyzer/ charger in order to charge these to their capacity. Don't expect to put them in a logitech g700 or razer and have your usb charge them to full capacity. Speaking of which, I've been meaning to get around to analyzing the full charge that the g700 puts on the included eneloop battery...I highly suspect it isn't reaching 2000mah, since these batteries after an over night slow charge last WAY LONGER!!!
A big plus is that after a refresh cycle and a slow charge on my mhc9000, I read 3200+mah on these batteries. Can't do that with eneloop...max i get with the eneloop 2700mah is 2932mah.
Using the mch9000 to run a break in cycle the first time you open these batteries seems to make all the difference in the world. Run a refresh cycle every 8-10 charges and a break in cycle every 30-35 charges and they will last you years!
for those crying about shelf life, they make a new model called the imedion. It's a 2400mah low self discharge that lasts 1000 charges and retains 85% of it's charge after 1 year on the shelf. That would be the Eneloop competition.

Cons: no cons with the batteries, though I think they need to put the word out that you need to slow charge and stay away from fast chargers if you intend to make the batteries last. They should also make it known that most chargers bought at retail stores will not charge that high.

Other Thoughts: Only charge these with the maha mh-c9000 or the la crosse BC series of chargers. Get the maha and you won't regret it.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent, guaranteed

Pros: Excellent value. Reliable.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Maha is no stranger to the quality aspect of rechargeable batteries -- they make one of the best rechargers you can buy, the MH-C9000, which I also recommend you invest in if you truly want to get the most out of these money-saving batteries. See my review of the MH-C9000 unit for more info.

2 out of 5 eggsShort service life

Pros: Bought the charger with 8 Powerex battery in 2008. The recharging cycle is fast, in about an hour and depleted battery can be fully recharged. The power delivery of charged battery was great initially., however, deteriorates very rapidly.

Cons: After a year or so, only half of them are barely usable for my digital camera. After two years, all 8 are practically dead. They also don't hold the charges very long as stated, either.

Other Thoughts: The charger is still good and I am using it for a set of rechargeable batteries of other brands bought at Costco.

1 out of 5 eggsUltimately Annoying

Pros: They haven't started a fire while recharging.

Cons: They don't hold a charge for very long at all.

Other Thoughts: Was surprised to see that I've had these for almost two years now. I use them in a camera that I don't take many pictures with and then not very often. They'll hold their charge in or out of the camera (on standby) for maybe a week or two.

5 out of 5 eggsGlad these are back

Pros: These are the best batteries I have ever bought (Bought them back in 2008)

They still work like new (use a good charger) but I need MOAR!

Cons: They disappeared from newegg for a few years. Just found them again! Woohoo!

1 out of 5 eggsBatteries barely hold a charge

Pros: None

Cons: Battery life is terrible. Out the box, I got about 40 hours of battery life for my mouse, and maybe 20-30 hours life for my xbox controller. Absolute garbage batteries, do not buy.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid product

Pros: They're rechargeable. They really do have the storage capacity they say they do, according to my Powerex charger -- which is an amazing product.

These batteries seem to last longer than any other Energizer or Radio Shack NiMH's I have.

The carrying case is a plus if you're headed out on the road.

Cons: Probably won't last forever, and will probably eventually put nasty chemicals in landfill.
