Yeah, we know: it's hard to get excited over a power supply -- unless it goes bad. No one needs that kind of excitement. Well, with a three year parts and labor warranty, Zalman obviously thinks you won't have to worry about it.
The same power switching technology originally developed for the space program brings you up to 84% efficiency to keep your energy bills down. Other advanced features including four separate +12Vdc rails, connectors for ATX motherboards and seven peripherals, six SATA drives, two floppy drives and two PCI-E boards. RoHS (Reduction of Hazardous Substances) compliant to reduce pollution, it has heat pipe technology and a 12 cm fan to reduce noise pollution as well.
Now you can keep your computer powered, green, and quiet, all at once. And greater efficiency not only keeps you from being a drag on the electrical grid, it means less heat generated; your air conditioner will thank you. That IS exciting! Check it out for yourself.
Pros: -Modular cables are very nicely designed, I've gone though 2 other modular cabled PSU's and they have a tendency to have very bulky connectors or heavy cables. Not in this case however, the cables are no more heavy than normal cables and the connectors are no larger than normal connectors, all very high quality. -Cool to the touch! First PSU that I've EVER used that doesn't feel like a blast furnace blowing out the back. This thing is amazingly efficient and doesn't add ANY heat whatsoever to your system. I'm not sure if the heat pipe is even required for this thing but it's a nice touch. -120mm fan is dead silent. I think it might be the same fan used on their CNPS7700 CPU cooler but with a reduced RPM to make it even more quiet. -Blue LED's aren't required but add a nice ambiance. They're not distractingly or blindingly bright like many.
Cons: -So far no complaints at all!
Other Thoughts: I generally try to stay away from statements like "must buy" or "best ever" because I haven't used every piece of hardware out there. This PSU however is the best that I have ever used by FAR. I've never been 'proud' of a PSU but this thing is amazing and I'd stand by this unit before any other piece of hardware I'm using currently. I can truly say that if you require wattage in this range than this really is a "must have" type of product.

Happy upgrade

Pros: Stable, quiet, and enough juice for all my needs. After moving from 480W to 600W, I was able to OC my Processor an additional 200MHz, and my SLI video cards OCed an additional 30%. I no longer worry about my system browning out while playing Oblivion.
Cons: none so far.
Other Thoughts: I have personally burnt out 3 PS units in the past, and they took out a combined casualty list of 5 hard drives, 2 MBs, and a pair of RAM when they went out. I cannot stress how important it is to have a properly sized Power Supply in your system, because if you burn out a PS it will take out anything its attached to. Upgraded from a perfectly fine Antec 480W to this for that very reason.

Pros: Worked flawlessly quiet for almost 3 years. Have used it extensively, attached and switched ~5 HDDs over the years, had two Raptor 150s for 2 yrs.
Cons: Just stopped working after 2 years and 10 months! Need to RMA. One of my Raptor 150s stopped working after 2 years, not sure if PSU was the cause, used WD R2s after till PSU died.
Other Thoughts: Will not buy Zalman PSU but will continue using and purchase Zalman CPU fans.

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: It was quiet, modular, the blue LED's are fair - not too bright, but not so dim you couldn't see them. Overall, it seemed to be a nice PSU for the money.
Powered: Core2 Quad Q6600 G0 Abit AW9D-Max (Never buy an Abit, btw.) 2GB OCZ DDR2-800 (Died.) 4GB G.Skill DDR2-800 2 7200RPM SATA HDDs 1 5600RPM IDE HDD (Died.) 2 DVD-RW Drives (IDE) PCI TV Tuner Card nVidia 7600GT-OC (Upgraded to...) nVidia GTX260 Superclock ...and quite a few case fans. (Generic, then upgraded to Antec.)
It packs a punch, there's no doubt. The only problem is it's arm falls off mid-swing. Oh well.
Cons: Oh good lord, where to start with this. My system has had power issues for months now, and I really didn't think it was the PSU at first, to be honest. I've replaced everything and now it's down to this. I got on Zalman's website for an RMA, look at their, "process," just to get there and go "forget this, it's not worth the headache."
Other Thoughts: I'll give you a hint about the RMAs, you have to type in your life story, then they give you an RMA number. That's all. I know I may be nit-picking, but seriously Zalman, customer support is the most important part of a product besides the product itself. If you messed up and sent a sub-par item, you should take it on yourself to not only guide them through the process, but IMO you should at least pay for shipping. It is understandable NOT to, as many companies don't. I don't much mind this, I just can't stand when I have to have my system down for anywhere from 2-4 weeks because a company won't do cross-shipping. Pick it up, boys.
As for this PSU, I probably wouldn't buy it again, just because for the chances it's going to break, I'd rather have a more useful customer support system from the company.
As for Zalman as a company, chances are I'll buy from them again. Never something like this, but a heatsink maybe. It's hard to break one of those.
3 stars for product, -1 for su

Solid and Quiet

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Extremely quiet for the power rating since it has a heatpipe cooler in it. Unit feels solidly built. Cables come in black mesh sleeving which is very attractive.
Cons: It's not 100% modular. The 24-pin Motherboard power cable, 8-pin Motherboard power cable, and one 6-pin PCIe power cable are hard-wired into the unit. Some people will say this is a good thing as hard-wired connections can be more reliable, but I got spoiled as my last PSU was 100% modular. Just an FYI
Other Thoughts: I'm not sure if it's listed in the descriptions here, but this model has some blue LEDs inside it to cast a faint blue glow out the back. Just a neat little feature.
