Yeah, we know, it's hard to get excited over a power supply, unless it goes bad. No one needs that kind of excitement. Well, with a three year parts and labor warranty, Zalman obviously thinks you won't have to worry about it.

The same power switching technology originally developed for the space program brings you 86% efficiency to keep your energy bills down. Other advanced features including six separate +12Vdc rails, connectors for ATX motherboards and ten peripherals, twelve SATA drives, two floppy drives and four PCI-E boards. RoHS (Reduction of Hazardous Substances) compliant to reduce pollution, it has dual heat pipe technology and a 14 cm fan to reduce noise pollution as well.

Now you can keep your computer powered, green, and quiet, all at once. And greater efficiency not only keeps you from being a drag on the electrical grid, it means less heat generated; your air conditioner will thank you. That IS exciting! Check it out for yourself.

5 out of 5 eggsNever had one this good

Pros: I purchased this PSU in spring of 2008. Sense then it has been in every new gaming computer build ive done, as it's one of just a couple of components that hasn't needed upgrading. I've never had to use any of the additional cables. It has managed to run mobo,cpu,H50 water cooler, 2dvd drives 3hdds, and 2 video cards without need for any of the additional cables.

Cons: None, thing just keeps rocking away. never had any problems out of it.

Other Thoughts: Bought it during Zalman's hayday, cant vouch for any of their products after that. but you can't go wrong with this PSU

1 out of 5 eggsSqueals like a stuck pig

Pros: lots of power, fan noise is low but that's not good enough for general usage

Cons: SQUEALS from electronic coil noise!! It's quite a magnetic disturbance, so much so it made the unit USELESS to use in a recording studio as EVERYTHING within 5 feet got hash from the coils noise impulses. Amps, AD converters, time clock generators, my Fractal Audio Axe FX, any powered speaker/studio monitors, sound cards internal and external. Totally unacceptable.

Other Thoughts: Do yourself a favor, read up on Zalman warranty issues, or the lack of. I wont be dealing with them again.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear valued customer,

We sincerely apologize for the issue. Please contact our customer service e-mail or via toll free number 1-888-925-6266 for further assistance.

Thank you.

Best regards,

3 out of 5 eggsWould not purchase again

Pros: Great cable selection and modular.

Cons: Didn't last.

Other Thoughts: I bought this psu to run a dual video card rig that has a dvd burner, and four hard drives. It worked well for a year and now it reboots my machine randomly. It just didn't hold up. Looking for another power supply. This should have been an excellent choice given Zalman's reputation, but I won't buy another power supply with their name on it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Picked this up 9/30/2008. Been running cool and quiet ever since. One of the most reliable pieces of hardware ever owned, no problems out of it.

Cons: They dont make them any more. Power off switch is on the inside of the case.

1 out of 5 eggsNot so reliable.

Pros: Worked great quietly until it broke down.

I purchased this power supply on 12/29/2009. Since then, I used it mostly on 24/7 schedule which shouldn't be the cause of problem in such a short term. About a week ago, my computer started to act abnormally, such as shutting down during minimum load (i.e. web surfing).
This continued for a few hours UNTIL my computer won't turn on until I cleared the CMOS. Then I checked the hardware monitor from BIOS and 3.3v readout was 3.028v, 5v readout was 5.88v and 12v readout was 14v.
To confirm this was not a readout error I quickly grabbed another power supply and reading was fine.

The real problem here is that this power supply was pumping dangerously OVER VOLTAGE into my computer without even noticing whatsoever. Zalman should have designed the power to not turn on instead of pumping over voltage when they get too old. If I had not noticed this problem, this would have killed ALMOST ALL components in my computer including 8 Hard drives and 3 SSDs.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear value customer,

We apologize about the defective units, we do have 3 years warranty. Please go to our website at under Customer Center please select RMA. Thank you for your time and patience with us.

3 out of 5 eggsZalman power supply

Pros: Cooling and Name

Cons: DOA>>>DOA

Other Thoughts: This was dead on arrival. I tried another supply I had and it worked fine. I am getting a replacement thanks to the great 1 more chance Zalman!! I will review the new one when it arrives, but for now 1 star for being DOA....

5 out of 5 eggsSimply the Best

Pros: 1) Runs an overclocked i7-2600K and two overclocked GTX580s in SLI without even flinching.
2) Super quiet (the stock CPU fan is louder)
3) Case never heats more than 5C, even at full load
4) All the connectors you could ever want (and they are nicely sleeved)
5) Comes with a 14 gauge power cable, the first high watt PSU that actually supplies a cable suitable for its draw.

Cons: 1) Its pricey

Other Thoughts: The best PSU I have ever owned. It sits 1" from a video card in SLI and the thermocouple I have sitting on it never registers a temperature increase of more than 5dC when gaming.

5 out of 5 eggsSimply the best

Pros: The ONLY power supply I have used since they came out. The second you open the box and see this PS, you can tell the quality. The absolute best for any overclocked rig!

Cons: Some of the cords are a bit short for motherboard connections if you want to really organize and hide the wires, without an extender.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU so far

Pros: runs quite and has plenty of power to drive my system. the cables are of high quality and look good. modular cables help cut down on clutter.

Cons: some small gripes but overall its a excellent psu, first off the most frustrating for me is that the power cables are not long enough for my tall server case, the 8 pin eatx cable would not reach at all and the 24 pin power cable was very tight. i ended up buying some extensions for both, i think that for the money and considering that this is designed for a server/high end system it should have longer cables for bigger cases, or they should included some extension cables if they want to keep it flexible.

Other Thoughts: Lian Li PC-V2120X full tower case
ASUS Crosshair IV Formula
AMD Phenom II X6 1100T
Thermalright Archon CPU cooler
ASUS HD6950 (another second one still to come)

5 out of 5 eggsNo complaints here

Pros: Been using it for a year, no problems whatsoever

Cons: I guess the only complaint was it is not modular... I guess that would be it

Other Thoughts: I do have an oversized chasis... so it may be difficult on people with "just right" chasis.
