Yeah, we know, it's hard to get excited over a power supply, unless it goes bad. No one needs that kind of excitement. Well, with a three year parts and labor warranty, Zalman obviously thinks you won't have to worry about it.
The same power switching technology originally developed for the space program brings you 86% efficiency to keep your energy bills down. Other advanced features including six separate +12Vdc rails, connectors for ATX motherboards and ten peripherals, twelve SATA drives, two floppy drives and four PCI-E boards. RoHS (Reduction of Hazardous Substances) compliant to reduce pollution, it has dual heat pipe technology and a 14 cm fan to reduce noise pollution as well.
Now you can keep your computer powered, green, and quiet, all at once. And greater efficiency not only keeps you from being a drag on the electrical grid, it means less heat generated; your air conditioner will thank you. That IS exciting! Check it out for yourself.
Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: This power supply is quiet! The modular cables are nice and sleeved. Fits well in my Ultra Aluminus mid-tower. Only owned this a week, but it seems to power everything nicely.
Cons: I only wish more of the cables were modular. I didn't need a few of them and like to minimize cabling when I can. Less cables = better airflow. Zalman, of all companies, should understand that.
Other Thoughts: This raised my case temperature about 3 degrees celcius on average, but it was expected when running a kW power supply. Running: Q6600 OC'd to 3.0, Ultra ChillTEC cpu cooler, XFX 680i LT SLI mobo, 4x 2GB OCZ PC6400 RAM, 2 Seagate SATA HDD's, 2 XFX 8800GTS in SLI, 1 Liteon Superalwrite cd/dvd SATA, 2 cold cathode lights, and 2x 120mm fans with LED's

Pros: This power supply is truly workstation grade! It has been rock solid for the 2 1/2 months I've had it, even under high load for 12+ hours at a time. My workstation is a AMD Phenom x4 9850 Black edition, 5 SAS seagate es.2 drives in raid, 5 fans case fanes, 4 gigs of HyperX memory, two Ati 4850 in crossfire, and numerous other capture cards. Lastly, the power supply's cable management system is fantastic.
Cons: none.

Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Powerful and quiet. (I don't know what those people complaining about a loud noise coming from the PS are talking about. Maybe they have defective units.) The guy complaining that it blows hot air onto his video card is mistaken. The fan blows air into the PS and out the back. All the cables that are near certain to be required in a high end system are hard wired for minimal resistance (these are the power cables to the motherboard and video card, one power cable for SATA, and another power cable for molex). Additional SATA and molex power cables can be added if needed. So this is a reasonable tradeoff between efficiency and modularity.
Cons: No power switch. This isn't a show stopper, but it would be nice to have it.

Exellent PSU

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: -High build quality -Heat pipes -Powers anything I throw at it
Cons: -Very big and heavy -No power switch
Other Thoughts: This thing is a beast! It effortlessly powers my 2 gtx 275s in SLI, my Phenom II 940 BE @ 3ghz, and everything else! plenty of room to expand and OC! Oh and the noise everyone is complaining about will go away when you flip the switch on the back. the trade-off is it consumes more power.

Pros: This glossy metallic finish is gorgeous.
The cabling is very nice. Some say its " not modular enough " but i found it a big improvement over other power supplies.
Do these points really count for anything since i found this unit to be completely unusable ?
Cons: The noise ! Its absolutely horrific ! I read the other reviews before trying this PSU. I thought " The noise cant be THAT bad . . . " Even though i was expecting some unusual noise from the unit prior to testing it, i was still stunned by it. We arent talking about some excessive buzzing or humming here. This thing is positively unnerving. Imagine your typical office filing cabinet . . . now imagine filling it with a double handfull of marbles and then kicking it down a flight of stairs. Or maybe tossing handfulls of ball bearings into a spinning metal fan. One of the reviews mentioned it sounded like " a dentists drill ". Thats pretty accurate too. And thats at an IDLE ! When you put it under a load the clacking increases in volume two-fold. My cat hid under the couch when i powered it on =(
Other Thoughts: I turned the unit over in my hands while it was running and noticed you can make the clacking sound stop if you hold it just right. Seems like the fan ( which is very wobbly ) is striking the other parts as it spins.
I left it running and walked outside shutting the door behind me. I made it halfway to the curb before i couldnt hear it anymore.
