does this enclosure accept a spinning drive, or only SSD? It looks very thin for a mechanical drive.

A standard 2.5 HDD will fit in this. The only issue I have with them is they often don't work or die quickly. 2 of the 3 enclosures I have purchased have quick working.

What is the rotational speed?

It has no storage inside it.  This is just an enclosure for any 2.5" drive you have laying around and want to turn into a USB storage device.

The rotational speed will be that of the drive you place inside.  Or in the event of an SSD there is none.

what is the size of it?

Accepted Answer

It fits 2.5" hard drives, so it's just a little bit bigger than the drive.  Approximately 5" X 3" X 0.5".  You will need a little extra room for the cable if you are wanting to store it in something relatively small.

Will this enclosure work with a Seagate 7200.9 hard drive?

Accepted Answer

My research shows that the 7200.9 is a full-sized 3.5" desktop drive.  This enclosure only accepts laptop 2.5" drives.  It will not work with the 7200.9 as long as it is a desktop drive.
