4 out of 5 eggsDecent Enclosure

Pros: Works well, as described. A decent choice with no big issues.

Cons: Relatively short cords. Power interface atypical and a bit ambiguous as to what direction to plug it in. Power plug bulky. A bit pricey but not terrible.

Other Thoughts: SATA 2 interface 3 GB/s and Super Speed USB 3.0 trivial since the mechanical HDD only transfers 100's of MB/s anyway.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: No compatibility issues with Seagate STBD4000400 4TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive – Retail Kit, windows 8, or qnap TS212. Primary purpose was to pair with the Seagate drive to backup the TS212.

Cons: None yet.

5 out of 5 eggsData Saver

Pros: This has been a great piece to save all my old hard drives from. XP and Vista, up to 1.5 T space, it takes a little bit of hanging with this and it took me 4 tries to find what I wanted on the drive because I was going from what I was use to as C drive to what is an add on of XP going through Windows 8, which took a bit to get used to but then finally all my photos that I had on the old XP hard drive came through, There was over a Terabit of photos. I suggest that anyone that gets this to let it connect up and allow it 10 minutes on first then shut down and go back and start to browse seeing what you can find.

Cons: Nothing that I know of.

Other Thoughts: It took the old C drive in my XP and converted it to a storage drive for my Windows 8, it took a bit to get this to convert and open my large photo file but once it got it it would open right up over and over again.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat but lots of issues.

Pros: When its pluggin into my intel usb 3.0 port it transfers VERY fast. Low heat and quiet.

Cons: Every time i reboot my computer (i have an asrock Z75 Pro 3) it disappears. I have to turn it off then plug it in and turn it back on to get it to work. I emailed vantec who kept asking me what my usb 3.0 chipset is and im telling them its the Z75 (which is built in not a secondary chipset). Eventually they stopped responding. It doesnt work on usb 2.0 it just shows up as an unknown device.

Other Thoughts: VANTEC support sucks BAD and im annoyed they just stopped emailing and responding to my issue.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Product

Pros: - Decent USB 3 speeds reached
- No issues with a couple different of my HDDs
- Feels durable

Cons: - Requires screwdriver to remove drive
- The internal PCB feels cheap
- Internal LED wire must be removed when opening enclosure
- Non-standard power cord.

Other Thoughts: I got this product on the cheap, so the corners that I saw that were clearly cut did not bother me. I did expect the drive to be easier to install. Two screws must be removed. The board on the inside of the product feels like it could easily break when attaching a drive. Each time you close the enclosure, you must awkwardly attach the LED cord if you want that and while closing it, this cord is forcefully bent back against some glue that holds it against the wall inside the enclosure. It feels cheap internally. You should not have to worry about this unless you frequently change the drive though. The power cord is unlike anything I have seen. I'm not familiar with it at all, so I'm thinking it's non-standard, but it may not be.

If you can live past these shortcomings, then this product should be fine for you. It currently works great with my 1TB drive and I like the fact that it directly recognizes the drive and no drivers from Vantec are necessary.

5 out of 5 eggsAwsome!!!!

Pros: Its as fast as the drive you install. Beautiful case ! Feels like quality.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I wish they came in different colors. I installed a 1TB WD Caviar Black. Fast, fast fast. Just flip the switch and instant memory. Makes a great back up. I use it to record Pro-Tools 10 to so I can carry the raw files to a work station.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks .. but runs HOT

Pros: - Works as described.
- Decent performance using USB 3.0.
- looks nice, high gloss finish

Cons: - Runs very hot. Almost too hot to move around.
- LED cable got hung up during install and broke?
sliced open my hand when just tried to remove wire entirely. (sharp edge plastic)
- cords are too short .. need a close power strip and close USB 3.0 port (which is not so easy sometimes)
- USB 3.0 connects only 50% of time. Have to keep plugging in until works using Windows 7 on ASUS mb.
- price was high, and expected a lot more.

Other Thoughts: Next time I think I will look elsewhere. Maybe go with a fanned unit and probably aluminum (not plastic)

5 out of 5 eggsJust a quck review to toot Vantec's horn

Pros: I've had many external housings over the years (remember how exciting SCSI II was?), and in the last decade almost all of them have been Vantec. I highly recommend the brand in general when it comes to housings.

Cons: None so far; they've all be flawless over the years.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great!

Pros: This enclosure is stylish, cool to the touch, and seems to dissipate heat easily, with good solid USB 3.0 connectors. Plastic seat for enclosure is sturdy too. Good length USB 3.0 cable. No problems after using it for over a year!

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: A very nice enclosure! Well constructed, solid, connectors well designed.
