IOGEAR's GCS1794 4-Port HD Multimedia KVMP Switch with HDMI connections, Audio and a 2-Port USB 2.0 hub charts a ground-breaking new direction in KVM functionality by combining advanced HD and USB 2.0 technology. The HD KVM Switch enables effortless control over 4 HD devices with HDMI connections or computers using a single USB keyboard, USB mouse and single high definition display (720P or 1080P) or HDTV.

This advanced HD KVMP can increase efficiency and save equipment cost for applications where HD resolutions, large or widescreen monitors with HDMI connections are used and required. The HD digital output supports various high definition TV resolutions. Connect your high definition display with HDMI connections, HDTV (flat panel, plasma, DLP, digital TV) and data projectors. The GCS1794 4-Port HD KVMP Switch is HDCP compliant. It is also equipped with IOGEAR's DynaSync which reads and remembers the monitor's parameters (EDID) eliminating any delays or change in video resolution when switching between, or booting computers. (IOGEAR's DynaSync provides the EDID support for Windows 7)

The GCS1794 features two USB 2.0 peripheral ports for asynchronously sharing USB devices between your computers. The proprietary asynchronous switching allows the user to independently switch applications between the connected computers. You can run one application on one computer while running another application on the other. A powered USB hub may be attached to the peripheral ports for added functionality.

  • newegg HDMI KVM Switch The IOGEAR GCS1794 allows you to share an HDTV or Display with HDMI connections, keyboard, mouse with digital surround sound between 4 of your USB / HDMI computers and devices. HDCP compliant, this unit also supports Full HD 1080p with maximum video resolution of up to 1920 x 1200 and Dolby True HD and DTS HD Master Audio to optimize your A/V experience, making it the best among its kind. 2 x USB 2.0 peripheral sharing ports are included and additional USB hub support allows for greater flexibility.
  • newegg DynaSync Function IOGEAR's DynaSync reads and remembers the monitor's parameters (EDID) so there is no delay or change of video resolution when switching between, or booting computers. (IOGEAR's DynaSync provides the EDID support for Windows 7)

  • newegg Easy to Use Power-on Detection enables the GCS1794 to switch to the next powered-on computer if one of the computers is powered off. Complete keyboard and mouse emulation allow error free booting and real time switching.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent with a few minor drawbacks

Pros: • Well packaged with recyclable materials
• Sturdy and well-made housing on unit, stays put when pressing buttons on unit.
• Cables are high quality and flexible.
• Ports for cables are primarily on the back with audio ports and one USB on the front.
• Functionality is outstanding. Switching always works via buttons or hotkeys.
• Varied devices that it can control
• Takes up less space than competing products.

Cons: • Expensive, but the quality is worth it.
• Annoying beeping when switching devices is too loud. Had to turn it off. See other thoughts
• Manual is not complete and website does not help much.
• My laser pointer mouse did not work in the “mouse” USB port, which I have read is an issue for some mice. Moving to one of the other USB ports solved the problem. No issues.

Other Thoughts: • My setup. I have four HDMI devices plugged into this device: Desktop PC w/ Windows 10, Laptop w/ Windows 10, Sony PS4, and Microsoft Display Dock for my Windows Phone. All work flawlessly. Each device shares keyboard, mouse and one monitor.
• Switching between devices is easy with keyboard commands (ScrLk, Scrlk, 1-4)
• To turn off/on the beep: invoke Hotkey Setting Mode by pressing and holding CTRL, then pressing and releasing F12, then releasing CRTL then press the `b' key.
• I have used other competing products and they do not compare to this one for ease of use, quality, and reliability

4 out of 5 eggsGood Switch

Pros: Easy to use. Good quality; IOGEAR stuff always has a long lifetime.

Cons: I read the whole manual, and there doesn't appear to be a way to disable auto-switching when a machine is turned-off. Sometimes freezes with a Windows machine, but this is Windows' fault - Mac/Linux work 100% of the time.

3 out of 5 eggsA bit sketchy

Pros: That such a thing exists!
Comes with lots of cables!
NewEgg had a really good price on it.

Cons: Buttons are weird, not really buttons.
It is not apparent how to auto-scan--- that should be a separate button, but it looks like it is the same button as the #2 device button?

HDMI input hole seems a little loose; have to jiggle it to make it work, but once it's on a stable surface and not being moved around it's OK.

We have it connected to a Windows7 laptop, a Ubuntu "Penguin" mini-desktop, and AppleTV, all going to a 42" LED from Insignia. It does NOT reliably "wake up" the Unix computer. The laptop goes to sleep and hibernates, so the USB "trigger" or whatever that should activate it is apparently not enough. For example, today when I used it, the Unix computer was active and showed up right away, just fine. Then I pushed the button to see how the Windows computer was doing--- it had hibernated and had to be waked up. Then pushing the buttons again to go back to the Unix computer--- no dice! The Unix computer went to sleep or something instantly. Maybe it's an issue with that device, as the AppleTV had no problem. (Oddly, the Unix computer remains active on the network, so it's just "visually" asleep--- files are accessible, just not with the IOGEAR.)

Size: A little too big, would be nicer if it was smaller, thinner. It's going underneath a flatscreen TV, in our situation, so the box is much wider than the TV and juts out; not the most aesthetic thing.

Other Thoughts: Would be cool if it had a wireless remote.
It is really nice that it comes with cables a-plenty.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for choosing IOGEAR and we apologize for the inconvenience. I will forward your comments to the product manager for his review. The product should not behave as you described. Since the unit is backed by IOGEAR's 3 year warranty feel free to contact our customer support at 1-866-946-4327 or email us: Again, thank you for choosing IOGEAR.

2 out of 5 eggsVideo looks great, mice/keyboards don't work all the time

Pros: Fast HDMI switching, well built cables, video looks great

Cons: Little/no support for different keyboards or optical mice

Other Thoughts: I purchased a Logitech K200 and M100 keyboard/mouse combo to use with this device, but find that the device is extremely fickle in when it allows the inputs to work. I've had times when the both the keyboard and mice works, but then when switching to another machine, only one will work, then switching back to another machine, none will work. Pulling the cables out and resetting them seems to have no effect nor does powering down the device. Like the other reviewer, I called support and was told that only 104 key keyboards were supported. I have the same issue on their DVI KVM.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for choosing IOGEAR and we apologize for the inconvenience. The logitech K200 is not a standard 102 key keyboard. I would suggest you try turning off the mouse emulation through HSM and see if this corrects the problem with your mouse. In order for hot key operation and instantaneous recognition of the keyboard and mouse when switching computers, our KVMs emulate a standard wired 102 key keyboard and wired generic 2-button scroll wheel mouse. We can not guarantee the use of wireless (including Bluetooth), multifunction, gaming, integrated card readers, or programmable keyboards and mice. This KVM also requires a mouse and keyboard be connected to their respective console ports, so we cannot guarantee the use of docking stations, port replicators or USB / PS2 adapters.Once again, thank you for choosing IOGEAR.

1 out of 5 eggsNice Try

Pros: Good cabling, well made quality construction. Even using HDMI with Digital audio, it has analog input and headphone too !
Well thought out poor implementation ..

Cons: NEEDS independent usb keyboard and mouse dongles - NO combos. Will NOT work with advanced keyboards - (e.g. Logitech) unless set to default which neutralizes quick keys to change machines. This defeats wireless across the room keyboard changing - Thus needed functionality !

Other Thoughts: After trying six different wireless keyboard/mice setups Contacted MFG. and was informed of the above !
Also was told the device was firmware upgradable BUT that they had NO INTENTION was adding any further compatibility!
Would have been nice if USB 3 (but if anything but legacy 104 keyboards are there limit) USB 3 is only my dream !
