Is your computer starting to run slower? Are you worried that your hard drive may crash and you may lose all of your valuable data? The Aluratek AHDDUB100 External SATA Hard Drive Dual Duplicator is the perfect solution to duplicate the exact content currently stored on your computer’s SATA hard drive. All of your OS (operating system) and program files are “duplicated” in addition to your data files, making this a truly complete backup solution that’s bootable.

With its easy-to-use form factor, all you need to do is insert your current 2.5” or 3.5” SATA hard drive to one side of the duplicator dock, then insert your new backup SATA drive into the other side of the duplicator dock and press the start button. Your computer will start up with all of your program files, operating system files, Outlook contacts, personal settings and more. There is no need to connect to your computer. The LED indicator light will show the status of the duplication process. It’s that easy.

Works as an External Hard Drive

The External SATA Hard Drive Dual Duplicator works as a fully functional USB 2.0 external hard drive, with high-speed data transfer rates of up to 480Mbps. It supports all 2.5" and 3.5" SATA hard drives, and is completely plug-and-play, hot-swappable, and hot-pluggable.

One Touch Backup

Create an exact duplicate copy of your SATA hard drive, using a one-touch button. The full system backup backs up all your operating system files and programs with no need to connect to your computer. An LED indicator light lets you know the duplication status.

5 out of 5 eggsImpressive

Pros: Cheap cloning option, easy to use

Cons: No USB 3

Other Thoughts: Purchased for cloning solution in IT and it's worked well. Cloned 8 drives so far Windows XP and 7, 3.5" and 2.5". Works fine with cloning a drive with encryption (McAfee). Haven't tried cloning same size or SSD yet but have done hybrid drives with no problems so I'm not scared. Cloning to larger drive works like all other clonings, simply allocate/activate the additional space once you boot to it. I've only owned this for 3-4 months so I can't speak on reliability but so far it's an impressive tool for the money. Recommended purchase.

Pros: Can be used as a dock for two hdd's simultaneously and has ability to clone hdd's for both IDE or SATA drives (see other thoughts)

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: I used a "StarTech SAT2IDEADP SATA to 2.5in or 3.5in IDE Hard Drive Adapter" to clone an old IDE hdd (40gb) with Windows 7 on it to a new Sata hdd (250gb). The cloning process took about 20 minutes and the new SATA hdd started the pc without any issues.

5 out of 5 eggsClones Failing Drive

Pros: I bought this on a whim around Christmas but was really happy when I needed it to clone a failing hard drive. It saved me again when my mother in law's PC needed a much overdue hard drive upgrade.

Cons: Hard drives heat up quickly when cloning so put a fan on them to dissipate the heat.

Other Thoughts: It was inexpensive to buy when you consider that firms charge you a lot of money to clone a failing drive. I don't have it hooked up as a backup hard drive so I can't comment on that feature.

1 out of 5 eggsHave not gotten mine to work yet

Pros: Turns on

Cons: Ok, is there a DRIVER I'm missing? My computer doesn;t recognize any HDD I put into this thing. Through USB, it wants to reformat my drives. through eSata, it doesn;t read the device at all. I try my other drive reader, and the HDDs are fine and all there.

Tried contacting customer support, but I have yet to hear back from them yet.

4 out of 5 eggsgood, but esata driver issues

Pros: This is a very fast drive copying unit and I'm impressed with the speed and the simple interface.
Docking 2 USB drives works like a charm as well and the drives seem to stay relatively cool.
Great price!

Cons: Aluratek provides no eSATA driver, unfortunately, the one built into Windows 8 is flakey and generates IDE errors. I was able to format the drive (in bay0) with no problems, however, the errors just start popping up when copying and, ultimately, Win 8 simply kicks the device off (drive letters just vanish). Tried different eSATA cables with no luck.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth the Money

Pros: Simple to use. Relatively fast. Inexspensive. The computer repair shop would charge me $100 to clone one hard drive, so it paid for itself with one use!

Cons: Cheap plastic construction. Not sure about durability. Could use some more detailed intructions other than quick start guide. It took a couple of passes to get a good copy sometimes.

5 out of 5 eggsno brauner

Pros: fast and easy

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I can't speak for it's durability, but the speed , price and features can't be beat. At this price I would buy two, a backup for your backup. I have already highly recommended this to friends who do a lot of pc repairs.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent product - As good as the big name brand

Pros: First, the package comes with everything necessary to get going. The duplicator and power cord obviously, but it also has the USB cable and the SATA cable so that you can use it however you desire. It is easy to set up, and easy to use. I have utilized it as a backup drive and as a duplicator. I also have a Tt model and am just as happy with this unit. Obviously the true test of durability will come with time, but so far it seems well built and made to last. I would recommend it.

Cons: There are no major issues. A couple of minor observations - and this is being critical. The size of the unit is large - that is to say that its footprint is large, especially when compared to similar competitors models. But, that has nothing to do with function. Then, the stick on rubber pieces which protect the bottom came off during the initial setup of the unit and had to be resecured. I was a bit scared that this was an early indication of quality (or lack therof) but have had no other quality control issues.

Other Thoughts: I offer hard drive services to my clients and therefore use this professionally. I take my hardware seriously as its how I feed my family and therefore I demand the best. I was somewhat leery buying an off name brand but the price was favorable so I gave it a try. Before this I stuck with Tt and like them tremendously. I would now never hesitate to buy Aluratek and recommend it to everyone. Quality product with all the bells and whistles. I am very pleased all the way around.

1 out of 5 eggsStupid

Pros: As a docking station it works fine hence the one star.

Cons: It can only clone same size drive to same size drive. Why would anybody clone a drive onto another drive of the exact same size? The main purpose behind cloning a drive is to upgrade to a larger one! It also would have been nice to be informed of this limitation on the purchase page before I bought it. Now I have spend money to send it back! Ridiculous product. Oh and something with an owners manual printed in 2012 should have USB 3.0. Just sayin...

4 out of 5 eggsNice,,, but,,,,,

Pros: Nice looking unit. Lots of flashing lights except for the one you need.
Fast, easy to use.

Cons: HDD activity light for disc one does not work so it's kind of hard to tell if the unit is working or not. Lights works just fine on disc two. Not a big deal but sure would be nice to make sure things are progressing alone.
