try another Ri-Data product
- Pros: cheap
- Cons: my computer kicked every one out, had to get a refund, which was handled graciously and swiftly by Newegg. -- have used Ri-Data stuff in the past with no problem -- this was quite frustrating
- Other Thoughts: perhaps a bad disc lot, but wasn't willing to chance an equally bad replacement with tight deadlines
bummer
- Pros: printable surface
- Cons: 52% fail rate. Heavy error content on second layer.
- Other Thoughts: not worth the time or the money.
Work great if you have all things in place...
- Pros: These discs work very well, if you have all things necessary in place. I have used these discs for 3 yrs now, and have learned much along the way. It was never the fault of these discs. It had everything to do with the end-user, (me), and the software/hardware I was using.
Today, I know what works for me, and what doesn't work so well. I use DVDfab as my software program, and it performs very well for me. Nero is a second choice, but I prefer the former. When using DVDfab, I choose the "Clone" option when burning DL discs. I haven't burned a disc using Vista or Windows 7 yet, but XP works very well.
The other important factor is the DVD burner. My Asus notebook has a nice burner in it, but I burned it out before the warranty was up, so after they replaced it, (Asus rocks), I purchased a Plextor external DVD/CD drive. It performs flawlessy, albeit a little noisier than the internal burners.
Again, these RiDATA DL discs work everytime now.
- Cons: None. The learning curve was a long one, but these discs were never to blame.
- Other Thoughts: I have used other DL discs, Verbatim, and did not get the consistent results as I have with these. In fairness, I was still learning what worked. In addition, the hardware/software combinations I mentioned above are the reason I get great results every time now. It doesn't matter if I am burning DL discs or Single layer discs, I get great results.
For Single Layer discs, I only buy the Taiyo Yuden, Professional discs, not their Value Line. Once again, these discs make all the difference in getting perfect burn results, everytime.
Today, I have a second external Plextor drive, and it too works flawlessly. If you regularly burn lots of discs, these drives are great workhorses.
