2 out of 5 eggsFailed

Pros: Cable management, was nice while it worked

Cons: Failed after 6 months, went on manufactures site and tried to figure out RMA process. You need to be a lawyer to understand the process. In the end I gave up and bought a Corsair model. In the end the motherboard only thing that was a damaged and had to be replaces with this PSU

Other Thoughts: Read the RMA before purchase, if,it sound like a lawyer wrote, pass it up for a manufacture that is known for backing up their products

3 out of 5 eggs6x25@ 12v rails

Pros: High watt rating. Lots of cables!!!! 80+gold

Cons: Not single rail!!!! If you oc your 7980 alot, which i hear isnt to hard, you could potentially explode this thing, as the rails are only 25 amps each. So no 690, ares2 rog, or other high draw card and you good

Other Thoughts: Use for 600 series cards in 3 way sli, or there are better options

5 out of 5 eggsReally Nice

Pros: So far so good (someone here mentioned a failure before). This thing is huge and well built. It just "feels" solid. WHISPER QUIET. It's got enough connectors to wire a small village. HEAVY wires, very well insulated.
Very pleased indeed.
I spend DAYS researching power supplies, best quality to price was definitely found here.
Buy it!

Cons: Not one.

4 out of 5 eggsCougar GX1050

Pros: 6 +12v rails that are clearly labeled, heavy quality construction, 80+ gold certified, semi-modular,

Cons: the flat modular cables are kinda neat but are not as flexible as standard cables, each plug on the modular cables is like they where dessigned for the psu to be in a top mount case instead of a bottom mounted one, to many cpu power leads on one cable,

Other Thoughts: came with a case badge, and velcro straps with logo on them

1 out of 5 eggsFlawless for two months... then totally DEAD

Pros: Modular design was a huge plus; cables looked very sharp and the unit came well-packaged. Very sharp looking; seemed to be built well. It ran beautifully without the slightest hiccup for about two months...

Cons: My 8-pin CPU Power connector from this PSU would never fit into its socket on the motherboard; felt as if something was jammed up in the pins someplace and that was preventing a secure connection. However, 8-pin connectors from other CPU's always snapped in fine so I must conclude that the PSU's lead had the problem, and not the MB socket. Fortunately, the lead from the PSU with the 8-pin connector also had 2x4 pin and 1x4 pin connectors; my MB's manual stated that any of these connectors could be used interchangeably without issue so I went with the 1x4 pin... it was the only option that would fit.

More importantly...

After two months, my computer inexplicably shut off, and a burning, coppery smell ensured. I was merely surfing the net; by no means stressing the system. I yanked the power cord out right away, fearing a fire might start. I took apart the case to investigate, and fortunately there was no smoke or anything else; just a strong odor from the PSU.

I let it sit for about an hour, reconnected the power cord, and tried to boot the system up. Power flowed for about ONE second... just enough to start the CPU fan spinning... then it quit.

I removed the PSU, swapped in a different unit from another computer, and everything fired right back up. Fortunately it seems no damage occurred to anything else. I returned the donor PSU back to it's original computer, and replaced the burnt-up PSU with an 850W off-the-shelf unit from BB to at least keep things running until I can get this thing warrantied. Who KNOWS how long that might take.

I do not believe any sort of power anomaly was to blame, as I had other computers running at the same time; there was no indication of any kind of outage or surge. Additionally, I use pretty beefy surge protectors; may look into some UPS's for a little more prevention.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat while it lasted

Pros: Ran without a hick up . Silent and nice looking .

Cons: Had it for 6 months then just started turning off without any reason . Then one day nothing at all .

Other Thoughts: I think i got a defected power supply so im not blaming company.People now and the get lemons so im not too mad about it . What i am unhappy about is i did not register it to get a warranty on it and now i have to Buy another PSU for another 160 dollars. Also im worried it might have messed up one of my 680 video cards . Sadly im not buying another cougar supply do to what happened . Hopefully people remember to register it .

5 out of 5 eggsGreat buy

Pros: 1050W 80+Gold
Semi Modular (All the important cables are non-modular to ensure no shorting out)
Very flexible cables
Easy install
Awesome look (Black and gold goes great with my ASrock Z77 Extreme)
Stable and rock solid
Runs cool
All the cables you'd ever want, peripherals included.

Cons: Cables aren't the cool design

Other Thoughts: Love Newegg, product got here within days and everything was packed well and in GREAT shape!

I recommend this to anyone building a rig who's on the fence about getting it, it's solid and is a great candidate if you're considering SLI/Xfire. It's also relatively future proof!
