5 out of 5 eggsgreat value

Pros: For the cost, I could not find a better deal

Cons: None thus far, 4 discs into the spindle.

Other Thoughts: For my use, I did not need top end speed, or ultra durable coating. I am using them for one time backups that will be kept in a fireproof safe for a year. I've written to 4 of the 10 so far and all four worked well.

1 out of 5 eggsOnly Bad Discs I've Tried

Pros: The only positives are that newegg shipped them fast and they were dirt cheap.

Cons: Not a single disc would burn properly. I always buy whatever discs newegg puts on sale, anything from Memorex to Ridata. Out of all the brands I've tried these are the only ones that wouldnt burn for me. I tried the first 8 - 12 discs on the spindle before finally just throwing them away. Most likely its not the brand as much as the fact that I simply got a bad spindle. Its happened to me before with CD's and DVD's when burning those formats was still considered new. I usually would just exchange them for the sames discs and the new pack would work fine. With these unfortunately I didnt try burning the first disc until after my 30 day window of return would have been over.

Other Thoughts: If I was desperate I might try the brand again, but I dont burn a lot of blu rays and newegg doesnt go too long without putting the memorex or Ridatas on sale so I doubt I'll have a reason to try these again.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Value with LG, but Ugly

Pros: Both of my Blu-ray drives are LG but different models (WH10LS30 and GGW-H20L). These low-priced discs burn and read 100% successfully in both drives at max speed. I'm archiving data which can't tolerate even a single "dropped bit" (like video/movies could), and I always burn to the inner tracks by filling each disc about 99% full. After burning, my discs don't get read daily or even weekly, but they generally get read monthly. My oldest burns are more than a year old, and I've never had a problem. I can't speak to the problems that other people have reported (e.g. with Pioneer drives), but these discs have worked very reliably for me.

Cons: I wouldn't mind the logo at the top if there was clear space provided at the bottom for labelling, but the bottom is decorated with curved lines. If you try to write across the logo and/or lines with a Sharpie, the ink will "skip" (break) which only draws more attention to the fact that the logo and lines look cheesy to begin with.

Other Thoughts: By the end of the CD-R era, Taiyo Yuden was the only CD-R media I would buy. If this means anything to you, then you're a long-time stickler about optical media quality, and you know that I would always approach cheap media with skepticism. This media earned my trust, but maybe it's only because I always burn with ImgBurn and I always handle/store discs properly. It's also possible that Optical Quantum is reselling media from multiple manufacturers, but my discs all came with MID PHILIP-R04-000.
