2 out of 5 eggsOK when it works

Pros: Quick and easy to set up and maintain.

Cons: Unit runs hot, especially under load - small fan on back seems pretty useless.

After a couple of months of use, we noticed that the unit would disappear from Windows Vista and would not reconnect without being powered off/on. It would often disconnect in the middle of a large file transfer or when a system was sending an Acronis backup image to the device. However, it would also just randomly disconnect as well. Thought it might have been a Vista or PC issue (it was an older system), but the unit did the same thing on a newer server running 2008 R2 within a couple of hours. Using different drives did not solve the issue

Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for. We were hoping this would make for a quick and easy little NAS box for storing backup images, but the regular disconnects really hamper those efforts.

It seems the unit slows down after a time as well. Pushing down images from the same systems that took 30 minutes when the device was new now seem to take 15-25 minutes longer.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic product with improvement opportunities

Pros: 1) Affordable USB 3.0 and HW RAID
2) Solid build quality, all metal construction gives solid support to drives
3) Easily adjustable, this replaced a Fantom mega RAID where the commit switch required a press with a paper clip that broke rendering the enclosure useless.
4) Indicator lights show status of RAID and access making it easy to spot troubles
5) The metal body acts like a giant heat sink which is great.
6) Power included ground all the way to the body great news.
7) The railings and the fit was really good, didn't have any issues inserting the SATA drives, There is sufficient space between the drives for decent airflow
8) Tested with both linux and windows with no issues, didn't have to install any drivers (for USB 2.0).

Cons: 1) Fan does not cool drive just the board, so the enclosure gets hot from the heat from the drives.
2) Unable to read SMART info over USB.

Other Thoughts: I had the whole thing up and running in 10 mins, no issues what so ever, burn testing with 2 x 2T 7200RPM Hitachi drives. Some people saw these as cons but
1) Short USB cable, wasn't a problem for me but others have reported issues.
2) Screws that hold the rails to the body are very short, wish it was longer to ensure good hold.
3) My front grill came with a slight dent but not enough to return, the enclosure works very well so not a big deal.
4) Other people have mentioned that they can accidentally change the settings, easily fixed by putting a small transparent tape over it.
5) Power cable was perfect and not loose on mine like some people.
6) Unknown at this point if the storage processor requires any firmware updates

1 out of 5 eggsUseless without Disk

Pros: None Yet

Cons: The disk that's included with the drive arrived broken. No worries right? I'll just go to the website and download the drivers. FAIL! The drivers/Firmware are not available on the website or anywhere else for that matter. Without the drivers this is just an overpriced piece of scrap metal. I have contacted INEO support. I'll update with their response.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Honestly i have found nothing wrong with it. Iv been looking to back up my Computer via MANY ways. Of course i have had plenty of single backupdrives including a couple of dual bay external cases. This one supports LARGER than 1.5TB

Thats the main reason for purchasing.

Looks AMAZING. this is by far the best lookig case i have seen in stores.

Cons: The only issue iv had to complete the initial RAID setup, i had to convert the drives under (single mode) via disk management and change the "system partition" to dynamic.

Although they say this in the documentation its really hard to understand. Took a little bit of googeling on how to do this.

Other Thoughts: Every negative review: Iv had none. Honestly i was expecting terrible build quality but i received an amazing case.

5 out of 5 eggsReplaced NAS unit

Pros: Works great, solid construction, put two Seagate 1tb drives in, chose safe mode pressed the button. Formatted drives, up and running

Cons: Short Usb cable supplied. Needed more than 90cm to reach when I want to put unit.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks exactly as expected - pleased with purchase

Pros: It works exactly as you would expect it to.

I have two 2TB Hitachi drives that I also got from Newegg installed in the case. All I had to do was set the switch on the back to "safe" and push the button... and there you go, RAID 1 working just fine. I have taken the drives out of the casing and tested each one to be sure it is backing up between the two and it is.

Works fine with Linux, Windows and OS X.

The case spins the drives down when not in use. It only spins one of them up for reading/writing... and then spins up the second drive to write any changes from the first.

All in all great casing.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Some of the reviewers have stated that the power cord is loose, but it seems perfectly secure to me.

Another review says the casing it thin... which isn't true. It's thick metal. This is not a low quality case.

I have also not had any issues with the fan being loud. It's can barely hear it at all in a silent room.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed and no support

Pros: It did work for a short time.

Cons: I had problems with the power cord plug going into the unit maintaining a stable connection until I finally propped the cord to hold it in line to the unit. It worked okay that way till I started to get I started to lose one of the drives. I had the unit set up to have 2 separate drive and then both drives would show up as 2 identical drives and I would lose access to one. I tried to contact the MFG and was never given any response. I suppose I just lost my money. I ended up getting an Icy Dock unit that is far better in construction and performance.

Other Thoughts: Should have spent the extra money for the Icy Dock from the start.

4 out of 5 eggsdecent enclosure

Pros: good price point, keeps cool, quiet.

Cons: loose power cable, thin housing, raid knob switch is exposed

Other Thoughts: i got this to house a couple of 2 TB drives as a media warehouse for my WD Live HD. It is not moved around so the loose cable isn't a big issue for me, but could be if my cables were more open. I haven't tested USB 3 speeds, but hope to eventually use that. Right now just RAID 0 (4TB drive) and USB 2. Took 25 hours for initial load, at the end i didn't notice any hot spots or anything. only thing that could be a problem to me is the RAID configure knob is exposed where little fingers might try to turn it. it does require pressing a second button for the change to take effect, but would suck if it was changed by accident.

3 out of 5 eggsGood product, slightly disappointed

Pros: easy setup, data transfer speeds are in the 12meg p/s range and has been running great.....until this morning.

Cons: the fan is going bad on the unit already, after less than 3 months out of the box. i woke up this morning and heard a terrible sound coming out of my pc room. when i investigated, the ineo device was quite hot to the touch and it was evident that the fan was the source of the noise. I just hope the lingering heat from an improperly running fan hasn't caused any unnecessary damage to the 2 drives in the ineo appliance.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This is a great backup RAID system and easy to use. Tech was very helpful during any questions I have requested for especially during times of confusion. Tech was very pleasant and patient compared to a couple of other manufacturers I have previously owned much more user friendly. I am happy with my purchase and kudos to quality and service.

Cons: USB 3.0 should be compatible with eSATA but as fast as it transfers I'm glad I have this unit. Since I run daily backups for my work as a teacher and IT part-time. So far no complaints, nor issues I have bumped into personally.

Other Thoughts: I'm actually waiting for a multi bay RAID unit with this type of power USB 3.0.
