4 out of 5 eggsA Great 2.5" Drive Enclosure

Pros: This is a great drive enclosure. The USB cable is not removable for a reason: so it won't get lost. I use it in an IT department and it works well with Macs and PCs. I would recommend this enclosure to anyone.

Cons: internal support for the hard drive should be improved so that it is held in-place better and if it were suspended against shock that would be great.

Other Thoughts: The guy who complained about the screws no longer catching when he tried to swap drives is probably because he overtightened (get a clue dude)!

5 out of 5 eggsHas been flawless and great build quality

Pros: 1. It just works
2. Feels like high quality when put together. It feels like you have an expensive removable drive.
3. The blinking lights are nice, bright, easy to see, and they work showing activity. This is an often forgotten about feature.
4. Having an attached USB3 cable built in that wraps around the outside is brilliant and makes this so much more convenient to carry.

Cons: Nothing yet. It works and works fast.

1 out of 5 eggsUseless Junk - will attempt return to mfr to see if they honor their warranty

Pros: At first it seemed like a decent, small, and lightweight enclosure.

Cons: I wasn't real big on the way the cable is designed. Not only is it short but it is not removable, but it seemed to work ok with USB2.

Two month's in and now I wanted to remove the drive I had installed, and swap it out and into my laptop. Needless to say - this is when everything literally fell apart. The screws used to hold the plastic ends to the case were spinning in place and couldn't be removed. Apparently that didn't matter as one end actually fell off in my hands. The ends have plastic tabs with small brass screw thread rings molded in place. Not only were the screws spinning in place, but the tabs had disintegrated and the rings were no longer attached, hence the spinning in place. Pure Junk!

Additionally, since purchasing this enclosure I have also purchased a new desktop system which includes USB3. Testing this enclosure on the USB3 was a joke. It would not stay connected long enough to use it. And when it was connected it transferred files at 10-11 Mbs. However, when using a USB2 port it would stay connected and transfer at 20-30Mbs.

I'm interested to see what the MFR does. But in my opinion it's junk and I won't buy any of their products unless they fix this.

2 out of 5 eggsWould Not Dependably Connect to 4 PC's

Pros: - Good price
- Acceptable housing quality
- Build-in usb cable
- usb 3.0

Cons: - Undependable usb connectivity (deal breaker!)

Other Thoughts: The last thing you want in an external usb drive is undependable usb connectivity. After installing a fully functional Kingston SSD into the enclosure I plugged the drive into 4 different Win7 & Win8 PC's. If it was recognized and mounted at all it only lasted a minute or two. Completely useless enclosure. A single defective unit or cheap undependable usb circuitry? I will never know since I returned it for refund.

5 out of 5 eggsKiller.

Pros: -Solid Design
-Sleek, Elegant Look
-EASY (oh, so easy) Installation
-Absurdly convenient cable management
-Comfortable fit (see other thoughts)

Cons: -USB Cable is short (like 12 inches; I haven't measured it). See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: Given the fact that the USB cable wraps around the enclosure, its length is no surprise. I wouldn't give up the cable management design for a longer cable. I love it just the way it is. Just note that it will be sitting RIGHT next to your usb socket wherever that may be.

I installed a WD5000bpkt (Western Digital 500GB Scorpio Black HDD) into this enclosure. It's a snug, solid fit. I feel comfortable with the protection.

I plugged it in for the first time with USB 2.0 just to make sure it would work - it did. Powered up with no trouble.

There's no power adapter needed in case anyone was wondering. It's powered by USB, so it's just the one cable.

As other reviewers have noted, no screw driver is included. The screws are tiny - make sure you have a little bitty screwdriver handy to finish closing up the enclosure.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value

Pros: -Compact
-Simple yet sturdy construction
-Easy to use
-Detailed instructions (although not entirely needed)

Cons: -Box was severely dented (although enclosure was safe)
-Labeled as including screwdriver but no screwdriver was present

Other Thoughts: As for the product I am very satisfied it works great while looking sleeking and costing relatively little. As for newegg I am once again disappointed., the packaging was poor. Both the shipping and product boxes wear dented and worn. I was surprised to see everything worked well.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent case

Pros: Cable Included, Slim Profile, Secure, Great looking

Cons: Unified Cable Design

Other Thoughts: I purchased this case after trying to find something secure to carry with me everyday that included a cable (all in one). I love the design hands down and it is very secure. The great thing about this case is that the cable is built in, which is also the only thing that scares me. Once that gets damaged I see this case being thrown out. So far I have nothing but thumbs up!

5 out of 5 eggsMost compact USB 3.0 Enclosure

Pros: Very compact and portable external hard drive enclosure.

Very similar to the Eagle Tech ET-CS2PSU2-BK enclosure, but this one has USB 3.0 with transfer rates up to 5Gbps.

Sleek brushed black aluminum finish, sturdy flat USB 3.0 Cable approximately 14.25" in length (including connector). Clear instructions and simple assembly. Uses tiny screws that require a specific small screwdriver.

If using a SSD this is the recommended enclosure to get since USB 3.0 shares similar protocol as SATA so TRIM commands work on the drive. With a USB 2.0 enclosure TRIM does not work, and Write Caching is not an option. However, with this enclosure Write Caching is an option in Device Manager.

But, in Intel SSD Toolbox the external drive still does not show to carry out the SSD Optimizer (TRIM) function. However since Windows 7 supports TRIM natively, I'm assuming it's working on the drive.

Cons: For some reason with my enclosure, the Red and Blue lights are constantly on when no activity is occurring on the drive (or at least that I am aware of).
