5 out of 5 eggsGood, but death is imminent! (UPDATE!!!)

Pros: Giving this power supply 5 stars instead of 3. I had to correct the previous review I gave. Since I'm an engineer I decided to stop being lazy and get off the couch and fix the power supply. I opened her up and saw a mess. After cleaning up the electrical box with electronics cleaner I vacuumed the dust and repaired the fan components. One hour later I used the nifty lcd power supply tester which I purchased from Newegg to test the output. This power supply still works great and tests almost at the level it did when purchased! Over three years and going.

Cons: none at the moment.

Other Thoughts: Many power supply fans will stop turning because of dust, so keep your system clean and the p/s should last for many years. If you can find other sunbeam products give them the benefit of doubt. Definitely good quality for the price.

3 out of 5 eggsGood, but death is imminent!

Pros: Kept system cool for three years even in desert temperatures during the summer. Has not completely died, but the fans have stopped spinning.

Cons: Only lasted 3 years. ATX power supplies were manufactured much better ten years ago. Higher power demands should not mean the power supply will die faster. Internal components are cheaper these days. Companies keep making poor quality products in modern times.

Other Thoughts: All of my computers built in the late 1990's and later are still going strong with the same power supplies! This Sunbeam only lasted 3 years compared with my other clones which have lasted over a decade.

5 out of 5 eggsHush 680 Sunbeam = GREAT!

Pros: So i bought this PSU for my first build ever. It was a dual core 65 watt athlon chip with a 9600gt one HD and 2-3 fans. worked great although i doubt it actually gives off 680 watts since its an odd number and it seems cheap.

2 years later i upgraded my system to a gtx 460 1gb with an intel core i3 540 OC to 4Ghz with 5 fans and still the same HD but with an EVGA p55 mobo. Still works great , no random crashes no excessive heat, i tried OCCT PSU burn tests and it hasnt failed me once.

Cons: I would not buy this PSU again though as it would not be as future proof as a 850 watt from Cooler master or Corsair. At the time, this PSU was very cheap although now it is even cheaper. I was only looking for a high wattage PSU and this filled my needs. It may have worked for me for 2 years with high end gear, but i would not gamble again and cross my fingers that this PSU will work on arrival and will work in the long run as now ive learned much about PSU's and this is just a cheap one.

Other Thoughts: workes great although i doubt it actually gives off 680 watts since its an odd number and it seems cheap. Had it for 2 year and more...

3 out of 5 eggsJust don't bother with it.

Pros: It has good wattage

Cons: Only has one 4 pin ATX/BTX 12V power connector and not 2 for some core 2 quad CPU sopporting motherboards.

Other Thoughts: I gave it 3 eggs not based on the product or new egg but for Sunbeams business tactics. I purchased a CPU, RAM, and video card along with this power supply. They all had mail in rebates. I filled them all out and received the proper rebates for all but this Sunbeam Power supply. It's been over 6 months now and I have not gotten my rebate back. I've tried contacting them without a response so I'll just take out my frustrations through this review. Save yourself the hassle and get the more expensive name brand power supply since you are really not getting your mail in rebate discount by purchasing these Sunbeam power supplies.

1 out of 5 eggscomplete junk

Pros: worked for a few minutes

Cons: after a few minutes my PC just had no more power. psu just randomly died. you get what you pay for

Other Thoughts: should be more stable for the wattage. sunbeam should pay attention to compensating wattage for stability. never buying another sunbeam product again

3 out of 5 eggsRMA

Pros: Lots of SATA connectors, very high wattage for the money, 4-pin molex have clips to help hold in place and make easier to pull out.

Cons: When playing games that are full screen the psu starts clicking and making scratching noises, not sure whats going on but i'm assuming that is when the video card (GTX 260) is pulling the most amount of power and causing it to make that noise?

Other Thoughts: I'm RMAing it for a replacement, ill check back with you all if the second one makes the same noise
