3 out of 5 eggsGood Bargain

Pros: When I bought this May 2008 it was $99.99, which was a good price. It is a modular x4 12V Rail 580W PSU. At this time it was perfect for what I needed it for, well reviewed and well priced.

Cons: This PSU died January 2011. It lasted approximately 27,000 hours, which is only 27% of its advertised lifespan.

Other Thoughts: If I were presented with the option of buying this PSU again, I would consider a cheaper solution.

5 out of 5 eggsNo Problems

Pros: Has been working flawlessly for me since 5/10/2006. I have 2 Nvidia 6800 GT video cards in SLI mode, 4 Western Digital SATA hard drives in RAID 0+1 mode, and a ton of USB devices hanging off this PSU. It has never had any problems.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: The bottom of the PSU has a nice mirror finish, like chrome.

5 out of 5 eggsImpressive!

Pros: Large quiet fan, stable when under load.
Never had system crash as result of PSU.
Fully sleeved and heat shrink wrapped cables are wonderful.

Stable rails, not too sure if 'Rail Fusion' is 100% what they claim it to be but it holds +12v rails stable and my GPU doesn't crash it on load like it would for other PSUs.

Modular design is a must for good airflow/case management.

Comes with velcro ties, what a colorful addition! thanks Mushkin.

The box is pro. No extraneous packaging, no funny business. Very clean.
The bottom box is a bit harder to get out from the 'vacuum'.

Cons: The only LED fan in my case but P180 mini has a nice dark secluded compartment for it.

Green LED shoots out back, turns on when your computer
is off for some reason.

120mm fan could have been even larger

I don't have a window side panel to gawk at shiny mirror-ed PSU

Other Thoughts: i7-860
Gigabyte P55-ud2 matx
Corsair XMS3 C9 4gb ddr3
MSI frozr OCv3 GTX 260 - 216 pp
640gb wd black

All rolled up in
an Antec P180 Mini White

PCI-E connectors (2) have a giant plastic knob on them, not sure if they're intended to be nearer to the GPU or closer to the PSU?

Modular SATA power connectors have 4 connectors. makes it a little cramped if you just need 1 or 2.

I was afraid 20pin power would have been short, but it is a perfect length for me.

Waiting on thirty dollar rebate still (I ordered this build 9/20/2009 LOL) just called again and should have it finally, within a month... we'll see.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid PSU for a Budget Build

Pros: Inexpensive when on sale with free shipping. 120mm fan is pretty quiet & moves some air. Rails seem pretty steady. Tons of modular cables! Will power most high-end video cards. 3 year warranty isn't that bad either (pretty standard nowdays) Exterior finish is a nice touch. Mushkin customer service is usually very good.

My rig:

AMD X2 6000 CPU 125 Watt Windsor (stock)
250 GB WD HD
HIS 4890 1GB Video Card
2 92mm Fans
Lite on DVD Drive
4 GD A-Data PC6400 800
Edimax Network Card
Win XP

Cons: Could do without the green light show. Sorry...But I'm older & don't care for the fluff. Not worth full price with shipping. There are much better PSU's on the market.

Other Thoughts: This is a middle of the road PSU. Not great, not horrible. Topower makes all of Mushkin's PSU. Topwer again is just ok to decent. This isn't a Seasonic/Corsair build quality unit by any means. But then again, they don't cost as much. I must mention that I purchased the Mushkin AP-580 watt PSU, which is almost the same extact PSU. Mushkin is selling off their current PSU to make way for their new "Volta" line which again is made my Topower.

I recommend this PSU "if" it's on sale with free shipping. I paid forty dollars for my Mushkin AP-580 PSU with free shipping. But keep in mind I'm had to send away for a thirty dollar rebate. So..I paid Seventy dollars upfront. I never had an issue with Mushkin & their rebates (3 times now) Also...This PSU is for my backup WIN XP gaming rig in the basement. I don't think I would buy a Mushkin in my main system ever. Would spend more money & purchase something from a higher-end PSU company.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Power Supply Evar!

Pros: This is easily the best power supply I've ever used. In terms of reliability performance, overall design, style, and longevity. I bought it in 2007 for an athlon64 3800+ system. It's still in use today, powering my massively overclocked Q6600 system. Very impressive.

Cons: None, amazingly.

Other Thoughts: Mushkin made a believer out of me.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent PSU

Pros: I've never been so impressed with a power supply. Aside from functioning as advertised, it's the tiny details that put it a step above the rest. Automatic input voltage detection, ferrite cores, a grounding cable... it's almost as if an actual electrical engineer designed this!

Aesthetically it takes a minimalist approach across the board right down to the packaging. The only notable features are a green LED on the back and the glossy finish covering the whole unit. Looks quite nice in my opinion.

Manual contains a wealth of information such as timing diagrams and wire harness diagrams not normally seen in consumer products.

Cons: Modular cable compatibility is deceptive. I used this as a replacement for another modular power supply of a different brand thinking I could replace it without re-running all the peripheral cables. Even though the cables fit the same connectors on the PSU, it didn't work. Fortunately, the computer simply refused to turn on rather than frying everything plugged into it.

The cables that run to the video card have a rubberized coating reducing their bend radius. Even in a large case, there is usually very little space between the video card and hard drives, and this cable could cause a tight squeeze.

Other Thoughts: Mail-in rebates should be outlawed.

5 out of 5 eggsMushkin Enhanced 550250 580W

Pros: WOW. At first bit skeptical about the brand, but I'm glad that I ordered. Awsome Packaging. Great Construction. Cables Are Very Well Made and Plenty. Fingerprint resistant shiney surface. I was afraid once read about the review mentioning the size but during and after installation there are plenty of room in my server case (Nothing to remove).
Strongly recommend.~~~~

Cons: Not much of a con, but it would have been nice all cables are much more flexible to bend.

Other Thoughts: * Hope to see more bigger capacity and high-end PSU by Mushkin.

5 out of 5 eggsVery happy

Pros: I try to explain to my friends who have recently purchased their new gaing cards that they likely need a new power supply. This baby has the ability to run newer high-end desktop cards and it is priced right. Comes with a varied, quality set of cables to ensure you do not overload any of your rails, but ensures you have enough power for the middle-end gamer (high-end single card). Whisper quiet.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This was a power supply I purchased for a machine containing a GeForce GTX 275 video card. The card requires 40A@12V and is satisfied by the 2 PCI-E cables that each run off a separate 20A rail. I love the black fabric wrapped cables that they send.

5 out of 5 eggsNot bad at all

Pros: Nice price, modular (with plenty of cables), SLI certified, multiple rails, good quality. What more can you ask for?

Cons: Slightly larger than standard ATX specs. The fan guard sticks out, and I had to remove it to make it possible to slide the power supply into my Zalman case. It's also slightly longer than standard, and butts against a top fan as a result.

Other Thoughts: I've never been disappointed in a Mushkin purchase before, and so far, I'm not this time either.

My only wishes are that it had a fan header for monitoring the fan, and that I could turn off the sick green light.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice Value

Pros: -Modular
-Quality of build
-Cable quality
-Very quiet

Cons: -RF Green LED stays on when PC is off (will go off with back panel switch)

Other Thoughts: This is a great PSU value. I usually put Rosewill PSUs into my builds because they have a great price/quality ratio. Now Mushkin will be a mainstay at PSU as well. You just cannot beat the build quality of this at this price range. Once you go modular... you get the picture.
