5 out of 5 eggsMaybe I got a new and improved model

Pros: I found this product to be well made. It functioned reliably and as advertised. It is a very welcome addition to my computer as I love to tinker and make changes (improvements?) frequently. I wouldn't recommend it in a commercial environment, but it is more than adequate for home use.

Cons: As reported by other reviewers, the bay is a very tight fit into the computer, but nothing a little patience can't take care of and you only have to do it once. Not enough of a problem to deduct an egg.

Other Thoughts: I have had none of problems that have been reported by other viewers. The fan is whisper quiet. I've had no problem seating drives in the bays including Bay #2. The locking tabs, although plastic, will hold up just fine as long as you push them slightly to the left when locking or unlocking the tray into the bay. I've been swapping all 4 trays extensively while configuring and getting my 4 SSDs setup the way I want them. I have had trouble but NOT with bay or the trays.

5 out of 5 eggsNo problems with fans

Pros: Zero fan noise.
4 bays

Cons: -

Other Thoughts: What do you expect for a <$40 4x 2.5" bay enclosure?

It's plastic. This is not a detriment unless you were looking for aluminum. Easy to paint and doesn't scratch as easy!

I took this thing apart and scuffed up the red parts, then painted those green. Did the same with the black but painted it chalkboard black, along with the rest of my case, in the summer of 2012. It's been nearly three years, no issues since then...not even the paint.

Fan noise is not an issue and I have watercooled this system for nearly three years. Maybe the previous reviewers got a bad batch of fans?

4 out of 5 eggsDoes what it should

Pros: Installing SSD's was easy as can be. LED's work great it shows what bat a drive is in (Green LED) and it shows Drive activity (Red LED). All 4 drives run off one Molex connection. each drive has its own Sata cable connection.

Cons: Drive holders are plastic, be careful not to over tighten. Sata inputs are a tight fit when using Sata cables with locking connection, may want to ensure low profile lock if using them, I could see how the connector could crack if too much down pressure is applied because the lock pin pushes the adapter down to some extent, this did not happen to me however, I had decent cables, they were tight but manageable. Drive case was somewhat tight and had to be maneuvered just right to be able to insert into 5.25" drive bay, which scratched the paint a bit, but who is going to know right.

Other Thoughts: For the price, if you are a bit gentle on the plastic parts, this drive is a fine solution to add SSD's when you have too much stuff in your case to have drive bays, or a great way to add additional Drives to your existing setup. For the price, it's a no brainer. Once its in, it's in. Just always be gentle removing the SSD bays as they are plastic, and you will be fine. Unit looks slick as well, an after thought, but it is appealing.

1 out of 5 eggsSick of loud, sub-standard fans

Pros: Functions as designed with caveat below.

Cons: I am so sick of loud, sub-standard fans. This product is fine except the fan has now started making a loud, constant buzz that is noticeably higher than its previous level. Now I have to go through the process of swapping it out after it's installed, drives setup, etc. In an effort to squeeze EVERY cent out of a product's profit margin manufacturers are using the cheapest, crapiest fans they can find in everything. I would gladly pay $1 more for this product if it can with a quiet, reliable fan.

Other Thoughts: I can't recommend this product if you care about fan noise because my suspicion is this is not isolated.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Plastic, one port broke

Other Thoughts: Once you put it in one system, forget about reusing it somewhere else. Threads are already broken and you will not be able to securely mount it in another system because body is cheap soft plastic.

SATA Ports are made out of the same cheap soft plastic and if you use cable with locks, it will break it.

You need to try several times to fit a tray into a slot hoping you will not break SATA connectors. I would not even put it in simple HTPC because it is not very reliable with ports could go down faster then SSD itself. Better go with $50-60 enclosure. I have 3 of more expensive once and they are great. Tried this one and now it is in the trashcan.

3 out of 5 eggsMRK-425ST-BK

Pros: It's all easy swap, with the exception of port 2. It all make of plastic except for the red latches. Port 2 takes a lot of work to set the ssd to seat. I am not happy with this item. However i own other products from the same vendor that work fine for a good price, will be asking newegg for replacement plus postage.

Cons: not for someone running a server or business use that needs to easely swap out drives, 1,3,4 ports worked fine, Port 2 pain in the a--. Home user should be fine if port 2 is fixed.

2 out of 5 eggsHad trouble with this one.

Pros: -It does allow you to use a 5.25" bay to hold 4 2.5" drives

Cons: -For my setup my MB would not see the drives.

Other Thoughts: For my purposes I was using:
- a Gigabyte GA-H87-D3H Motherboard
-4 Samsung MZ-7PD256 SSD drives

When I connected the cables from the enclosure to my MB my BIOS refused to see them. However if I directly connected the drives to the MB they were seen fine.
I emailed tech support and they verified it should operate as a pass-through device..so it should have worked.

In the end I was more concerned about getting 4 SSDs into this 5.25" bay so out came the Dremel tool :). I cut off the back end of the enclosure so I now have all the drives directly connected.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well on a hackintosh

Pros: Works great in my hackintosh. All drives show up. Retains sata 3 speeds. Cheapish construction but for what you pay for it's worth it

Cons: One of the sleds is bent and one of the ports won't accept a drive unless fiddled with for hours

3 out of 5 eggsNot bad for the price

Pros: Good price on sale ($30).
LED indicators for which HDD slots are plugged in.
Looks pretty sharp from the outside. Fit is acceptable.

Cons: Fan bearing staring squealing after maybe 6 weeks of being installed. More an annoyance, since it is used mostly for SSDs and your average laptop 2.5" drive isn't going to care much about heat either.

Construction is bare minimum quality to achieve the finished product. While I mentioned the exterior look is sharp, once you pull out a tray, you realize this isn't really a nice metal framed bay.

Other Thoughts: Now I have to go and rip the fan out or at least disassemble and remove the wiring. It would be cheaper easier to just go with an open vented back and let the case fans do their jobs.

4 out of 5 eggsPrett good device.

Pros: One power connector, hot swap trays, gread for SSDs, low price.

Cons: As others have said, the fan gets loud after using it for a while. I only use this cage for SSDs and they don't require the same level of cooling as spinning drives. I simply remove the fan prior to install now when using these.
