3 out of 5 eggsMRK-425ST-BK

Pros: It's all easy swap, with the exception of port 2. It all make of plastic except for the red latches. Port 2 takes a lot of work to set the ssd to seat. I am not happy with this item. However i own other products from the same vendor that work fine for a good price, will be asking newegg for replacement plus postage.

Cons: not for someone running a server or business use that needs to easely swap out drives, 1,3,4 ports worked fine, Port 2 pain in the a--. Home user should be fine if port 2 is fixed.

2 out of 5 eggsHad trouble with this one.

Pros: -It does allow you to use a 5.25" bay to hold 4 2.5" drives

Cons: -For my setup my MB would not see the drives.

Other Thoughts: For my purposes I was using:
- a Gigabyte GA-H87-D3H Motherboard
-4 Samsung MZ-7PD256 SSD drives

When I connected the cables from the enclosure to my MB my BIOS refused to see them. However if I directly connected the drives to the MB they were seen fine.
I emailed tech support and they verified it should operate as a pass-through device..so it should have worked.

In the end I was more concerned about getting 4 SSDs into this 5.25" bay so out came the Dremel tool :). I cut off the back end of the enclosure so I now have all the drives directly connected.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well on a hackintosh

Pros: Works great in my hackintosh. All drives show up. Retains sata 3 speeds. Cheapish construction but for what you pay for it's worth it

Cons: One of the sleds is bent and one of the ports won't accept a drive unless fiddled with for hours

3 out of 5 eggsNot bad for the price

Pros: Good price on sale ($30).
LED indicators for which HDD slots are plugged in.
Looks pretty sharp from the outside. Fit is acceptable.

Cons: Fan bearing staring squealing after maybe 6 weeks of being installed. More an annoyance, since it is used mostly for SSDs and your average laptop 2.5" drive isn't going to care much about heat either.

Construction is bare minimum quality to achieve the finished product. While I mentioned the exterior look is sharp, once you pull out a tray, you realize this isn't really a nice metal framed bay.

Other Thoughts: Now I have to go and rip the fan out or at least disassemble and remove the wiring. It would be cheaper easier to just go with an open vented back and let the case fans do their jobs.

4 out of 5 eggsPrett good device.

Pros: One power connector, hot swap trays, gread for SSDs, low price.

Cons: As others have said, the fan gets loud after using it for a while. I only use this cage for SSDs and they don't require the same level of cooling as spinning drives. I simply remove the fan prior to install now when using these.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Uses 0ne molex power for 4 sata drives
Hot swapable.
Copme with 4 SATA 6.0GB data cables and Sata to MOlex Adapter,

Cons: Mini fan was noisy until I used electrical tale to secure it in bracket.

Other Thoughts: Would of got a 5 egg if the fan was quiet.
Excellet for raiding 2.5 ssd drives.
frees up 3.5 drive space.
allows for smaller power supply to make box more energy efficient.
good price,

1 out of 5 eggsjunk

Pros: It holds 4 2.5 drives.

Cons: loud cheap fan, plastic cartridges plastic case with zero heat sink ability. Cartridges use screws into the bottom of the drives. Whats even better they're rare counter-sinked screws that clear the case so if you loose any good luck... Fan is annoying, pita to swap drives. I can't think of any application where this bay is acceptable. Someone said for home use, no way loud junk fan plus annoying carriage design I won't recommend this to anyone. Better off zip-tying your drives inside the case somewhere.

4 out of 5 eggsEZ Swap indeed!

Pros: 4 x 2.5" drives in 1 5.25" space. Looks nice. All cables and hardware included. Lights to show populated bays. Looks nice in case. SATA pass-through so there should be no speed drops. Should be able to hot-swap if you're using AHCI and your chipset supports hot-swapping.

Cons: Hard to mount in some 5.25 bays. Mounted in a PowerEdge 1800 server and it was an EXTREMELY tight fit. Just be prepared for a bit of a fight. Trays are kind of light.

Other Thoughts: Make no mistake, this product is for HOME users. It is NOT intended for enterprise applications where hard drives are swapped in and out frequently. For someone who want's to set up an SSD RAID, or add more storage to a SFF case it's a great option. If you need enterprise grade hardware look to SNT or Icy Dock.

2 out of 5 eggsSeamless?

Pros: The backplane and everything else is surprisingly enough working.

Cons: However I put this in the 5.25" bay of a super micro server chasis. It was hard getting in, and now it will not come out. I need to move the board and this case to another server for storage. That is not going to happen. There is nothing seamless about it.

4 out of 5 eggsCheap Organizational unit

Pros: Cheap 4x2.5" bay. This is all you need to organize some solid state drive for use in an array.
Fast pass-through sata speeds, virtual zero loss.
Power and activity lights.

Cons: Cheap, even though that is also a positive, 5.25" bay tolerance is sometimes exceeded by poor sheet metal cutting creating interference when installing. Purchased two, issue existed with only one, installed with significant force.
Fan silent at first, however very loud after a few minutes. Cheap 40mm x 10mm fan that is unsecured in the unit, sound is likely generated from blades being pushed against the interface card.
Plastic base and threads, caution if taking unit apart.
Plastic trays, caution when inserting and ejecting, use minimal force.
Lower 5.25" bay screws do interfere with lower trays when using tall hdds (12mm) suggest not using those two screws.

Other Thoughts: Note: some people have stated that the 40mm fan can not be replaced, this is completely inaccurate, the fan can be removed properly and replaced with any 40mm x 10mm fan. Issue however, is that it will remain unsecured (unless screwing into the plastic backing) which will almost always result in some vibratory noise.
If removing the fan, caution should be exercised when removing the upper IC as there is a power riser interconnecting the two ICs. Also, lower IC is connected to all power LED light and can not be fully removed but tilted to allow access to the 2 pin fan connection.
Trays would be strongly recommended for SSD installations which require no additional ventilation.
Standard HDDs consider another tray, or replacing the fan immediately.
People that are doing large number of insertions, should not purchase this tray, honestly it is not meant for that type of use, this is a chassis for holding hdds, not for enterprise hot swap usage.
Tray connection is combined SATA power and data, rather than SFF-8482 (SAS/SATA), this tray does not support SAS drives.

There are lots of trays out there, make sure this suits your needs. Personally, perfect for my SSD home server setup as all other 3.5" bays are used for large TB drives.
