ICY DOCK MB990SP-B Dual Bay 2.5" to 3.5" SATA/IDE SSD & Hard Drive Bracket / Adapter

Pros: Good solid piece of hardware in my HTPC seating an OCZ 30GB drive. Read the directions and test place it before you set it in for good. Hasn't gotten loose and allows decent air flow over the device.

Cons: None

Pros: Quick to install.

Cons: Poor drive retintion; drives can move in the bracket housing. Mounting system is not secure -- I wouldn't suggest shipping a machine with this installed.

Airflow between the drives is limited by the front locking clasp, you cannot install it backwards in a typical 3.5" bay due to the length of the handles. It will also interfere with any full length graphics cards.

Other Thoughts: If I could secure the drives and the enclosure with a screw this thing would be better. As-is it feels cheap and loose fitting. I've used these for a couple of builds, will not re-order.

Pros: Holds 2 SSD drives nicely. Bolts up to any normal 3.5" HD cage or mount.

Cons: The SSD drives I used (2 Samsung 840 Pro's) were thin enough that they rattled around in the adapter. I resolved this by taking the bubble wrap that the adapter came in and folding it over a couple of times, then sliding the SSD's into the dock with the bubble wrap underneath them. Thankfully since SSD's don't really generate any heat, this should take care of the rattle permanently. However, some sort of tensioner to keep the SSD's from rattling would be a good change to make on this item.

Pros: build quality, ability to modify by removing screws and pins

Cons: plastic feels a little flimsy

Other Thoughts: fit depends on your case...I installed in a dell inspiron 660 mini tower that comes with metal hard drive brackets that fit onto drive...the brackets fit the caddy as well for a proper fit....only issue is drive sits low in "well" where drives are located so you must adjust sata and power cables...unless I am doing something wrong

Pros: Very nice and easy, fit perfectly and allows you to get setup with 2 ssd. Impress with the quality. Also had a rebate from Icydock, very easy and fast! I would definitivly recommand this brand

Other Thoughts: This is exactly what I needed for mounting 2 SSD's into a system. Drives fit well into dock and it went in without any issues.

Pros: Works great easy install.

Cons: Handle with care. Made of plastic and looks like it can crack very easily. Fat hands stay away.

Pros: - Perfect for installing 2.5" SSD drive into a 3.5" drive bay (I installed my SanDisk Extreme SSD into a HP Pavilion Elite desktop)
- Icy Dock honored my rebate request even though I was a few days late
- No tools needed

Pros: Very good fit for both my OCZ Vertex and a Toshiba laptop drive I had lying around. Pretty well built for the price. I had no complaints whatsoever about build quality or engineering.

Cons: The front latch mechanism opens easily I guess. It's not really a con unless you're trying to squeeze it into an internal 3.5 inch bay or something. This is being really nitpicky.

Other Thoughts: I had to modify the rail mounts from my Cooler Master Ammo case to fit this adapter but that's hardly the adapter's fault. A couple of quick holes made using a cordless drill and it's good to go. I removed the brass pins and fastened the rail mount system on to it with HDD screws. It ended up fitting very well. It does sit very deep into the drive bays in a Cooler Master case so plan your wiring accordingly.
