4 out of 5 eggsworked pretty well, but tight fit

Pros: great price
solid metal construction
comes with both 2.5 and 3.5 drive caddy

Cons: since my case has rounded has slightly rounded edges by around the 2 drive bays, I wasn't able to install it 100% flush with the front of the case, barely noticeable though. This also made it impossible to screw into the drive bays.

it was also a pretty tight fit, but luckily not too big

4 out of 5 eggsNice overall

Pros: - Useful system expansion options
- Fan cable is nicely wrapped
- Fan is quieter than others in system, no audible noise increase
- Rubber vibration/shock absorption*

Cons: - Fan cable is somewhat short, did not present me an issue though
- Dust catcher is a little difficult to remove

Other Thoughts: * Comes with two trays, one for the smaller drive size and one for the larger, either of which mounts to the base unit. The mounting point between the modular trays and the base unit is where you'll find the rubber.

5 out of 5 eggsExactly What I Need

Pros: Easy to install. The fan on my unit is amazingly quiet given the overall cost of this metal adapter. The only plastic is the fan and the face plate.

The inner metal drive caddie sits on top of rubber grommets which help isolate it from the outer metal frame.

All screws for mounting are included.

Cons: Molex power connector.
The front filter access is via a drop down door. The door uses a tiny plastic "knob" as the retainer to keep the door closed. On mine, the latch is so tight it cannot easily be opened using the thin tiny front plastic tab. This is a double edge sword. Tight means the door will not be falling open, but the front tab will probably snap off. I may take a file to the "knob" or just use a tiny screw driver to pop the door when it is time to clean the filter.

I do not feel these issues are important enough to warrant deducting any stars.

Other Thoughts: I did have to remove and rotate the fan 90 degrees to get the power feed where I wanted - no biggie, but you may want to check out your requirements before you install.
Mount the drives back further in the tray for better airflow.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's Functional

Pros: It gets the job done where needed. I removed a CD drive to install this in a PC i am using as a storage server. It's holding two 3.5" HDDs in the two 5.25" Bays.. I could install a third (3rd) HDD, but I don't have a SATA port for it. :(

Cons: None at the moment.

Other Thoughts: Quite happy with this purchase. Not sure it'd be useful for anything outside of HDDs.

5 out of 5 eggsBombsauce

Pros: This did what I needed it to do, relocate the drives up so that I might demo those cages for watercooling space. I have a 500r case so I was able to remove the drive cages with this. I have a 2TB WD Black and 1 2.5" ssd Corsair 128gtx in an Icy Dock 3.5 bay converter/bracket (EZ Fit Lite). This leaves space for one more ssd. I replaced the fan that it came with, with a SilenX efx fan. I don't know what the stock fan sounds like, so I cannot comment on that. But I can say that my SilenX fan is very quiet and pushes decent airflow across my hd/ssd. I was monitoring my temps using GRID+ and running this set up with my hard drives, brought my temps way down. They weren't high before, maybe medium heat... but now it's very low, nothing but greens. It also looks good in my black Corsair 500r case and comes with a dust filter (piece of foam) that seems to work fine but could also be just as easily replaced, as the fan was, if needed. So in short, it did what I wanted it to do... relocate the drives and bring the hd temps down.

Cons: No cons. My only con would be of the other reviewers not posting the name of the brackets they used when using this as a dual sized drive bay (ssd & hd).

Other Thoughts: If you're looking to relocate your hard drives and keep them cool at the same time, this product is for you.

4 out of 5 eggsNicely engineered adapter

Pros: Fit and finish are good. Has plenty of adjustability to line up correctly with optical drive/blank panels. Black plastic matches well, and the embossed logo looks nice mounted in my Antec Solo case. Package included all necessary hardware. Hard drive temps are now only 5 degrees above ambient, and the included quick release rails mounted easily and snapped into place very securely.

Cons: The mounting holes on the bottom row are slightly lower than those on the hard drive (1 TB WD Blue). This was not an issue since I only had 2 hard drives to mount. The included fan is noisy, although being in the front of the case does not help. The fan only has a 4 pin molex pass through adapter for direct hookup to the power supply, and consequently cannot be used with motherboard headers. The dust filter does not fill the compartment fully, allowing air to bypass filter. Used some foam lying around to shim it up. The "anti-seismatic" rubber bumpers are only marginally effective at silencing the drives, but the screws were so tight that the rubber was compressed and rock hard. Loosening the screws helped. -1 star.

Other Thoughts: When I discovered my newly acquired XFX R9 290 was too long to fit in my 5 year old Antec Solo, I was distraught. I love this case, and have yet to see a design I like better. This device made it possible to drill out the rivets and remove the drive cage, and now the video card fits with room to spare. I lament the loss of the brilliant hard drive suspension mounts that are a signature of the Solo design, but this adapter has saved me the cost of a new case, and keeps the drives cooler as well. I may try to run the included fan at 5 volts for lower noise. For the cost, I find this to be a great product.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: For whatever reason you decide you want/need 3.5" drives in a 5.25" bay, this product gets the job done. It comes with an additional adapter that fits onto it to support four 2.5" drives instead. The front has a door that opens to reveal the fan and the filter.

Cons: The door in front seems to take a decent amount of force to open. This isn't that big of an issue unless you find yourself constantly opening it to clean the filter.

Other Thoughts: I'm using this in my HAF XB as it didn't come with bays for 3.5" drives other than the hotswap bays. while I didn't mind the way it looked too much, I took off the front panel and threw my covers over it for a more matching feel.
