Question 1

Will this work with 2.5" drives also?  I have some SSD's and 3.5" hard drives that I would like to use with this.

We haven't tried it with a 2.5" drive, but due to the size of those drives, and how the release mechanism works, I don't know if a 2.5" drive would work by itself regarding releasing.  Perhaps if you had some sort of mounting brackets that would give it the physical size of a 3.5" drive, it might work, but I'd be concerned about the SATA and power connections lining up correctly.

Question 2

Will this unit work with Windows 8.1...and also does the HDD fit completely inside the enclosure?

The HDD does fit completely inside the enclosure. I am not running windows 8, but I would bet it will work just fine.

Question 3

Question about features.
Two items to left of sata power connector are un-identified in specs.
First is 2 pin connector and second looks like either jumper or switch.
There appears to be writing above them in the plastic but image not clear enough to make out. Data sheet and images at AMS did not help. Can you identify?

Starting from the right to left. C4 - 7pin Sata connector, C3 - 15pin Sata power connector, C2 - 2pin 12v fan output power connector, C1 - LED switch for HDD activity light & the writing above the switch reads Enable / Disable.
