The 45nm processor spec goes mobile with the Core 2 Duo P8600. You get top end notebook performance while drawing only 25W. Lower power means lower heat and longer battery life without taking a performance hit. Intel was also able to pack more features into the chip. This is boosted by the Intelligent Power Capability which manages CPU power loads to further increase battery life.

L2 cache has been bumped to 3MB and the Front Side Bus has been pushed to 1066MHz. They also boosted memory access and execution speed with the Wide Dynamic Execution and Smart Memory Access. These combine to let the processor compute more instructions with more data per clock cycle. You'd better watch out those in game enemies will be shooting back faster now.

The Advanced Digital Media Boost feature has been enhanced with the addition of the SSE4 instruction set and Intel HD Boost. This will give your entertainment experience a boost with better audio and video processing. It will also help with speech recognition, engineering and scientific applications. Perhaps most important of all will be the boost to security with increased encryption power and speed.

Great Mobile Processor

Pros: Fast, affordable, low wattage, cool, 45 nm.

Other Thoughts: The mirror finish on the proc works well with arctic silver. I put this in a Compal JHL90 with a 9600m GT and it runs most games on medium/high settings at around 50-60 fps.

Fast .... Period

Pros: This CPU is great. I have it in a HP dv5t with 4gb RAM, 9600m GT and Vista. It just flies through everything I throw at it. The 5400 rpm hard drive is actually a bottleneck on the whole system.

Cons: Expensive if buying alone as upgrade

Awsome Processor

Pros: I bought a laptop with this Processor about 8 months ago, and I have yet to be disappointed. The laptop came with a turbo button that overclocked it to 2.87ghz, and even at this speed it doesn't get very hot. This chip blows through through any game I have thrown at it without the need for the turbo button. I have been using it for engineering programs (Matlab, Solidworks and some programming programs mainly) and this thing crunches numbers like none other without being overclocked. I have rarely run into situations where the laptop slows down (running Matlab, Excel {with a 60,000x16 spreadsheet} and Illustrator at the same time it the only time I can remember). If it does slow down, I just use the turbo button and get another 20%.
This thing is amazing.
With OC I got 6.4 Win7 Rating, which is unheard of for a laptop that was only 1100 almost a year ago. . The faster FSB let me get higher RAM scores also, 6.5, and helped with the 6.7 graphics score.

Cons: Nothing, absolutely nothing.

Other Thoughts: I honestly don't think you can get a better deal on a mobile processor.

Great Laptop CPU

Pros: This CPU is great, very very fast for a laptop. Good size L2 Cache (3mb). 1066mhz FSB, 45nm and TDP of 25W

Cons: Battery life on my laptop is terrible.. but that's mostly due to the 9600m GT...highly doubt the CPU has anything to do with it.

Other Thoughts: Have this CPU in a HP DV5t with 4gb RAM, 9600m GT & Win7 Pro. It flies and plays games pretty good. This thing is so fast that it tore threw Vista and now Windows 7 doesnt even seem noticeably faster...which isn't a bad thing

Pros: Works fine, and runs cool.

Cons: I wished it also had 6MB cache like P9500.

Other Thoughts: Price dropped since I purchases, making it more worthy/reasonable now.
