Intel brings the power of the Core 2 Duo line of processors to your notebook. The T7700 runs at a snappy 2.4 GHz and shares 4MB of L2 cache between the cores. The shared Advanced Smart Cache let the processor divide it between the cores as needed for optimum performance. An 800MHz FSB allows for maximum data transfer rates. Smart Memory Access optimizes memory transfers to keep the data flowing.

All that power comes with a price, potentially shorter battery life, but Intel has added features help that problem. Intelligent Power Capability helps monitor the system and optimizes performance for energy efficiency. Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology adjusts processor power to balance performance and battery life.

This is a great little processor for portable applications, and more than ready to go along with the ride! Find the right laptop package, slap it in there, and watch the fun!

  • newegg Execute Disable Bit (EDB) Intel's Execute Disable Bit function can prevent certain classes of malicious "buffer overflow" attacks when combined with a supporting operating system. Execute Disable Bit allows the processor to classify areas in memory where application code can execute and where it cannot. When a malicious worm attempts to insert code in the buffer, the processor disables code execution, preventing damage or worm propagation.

Combined with existing power saving features, EIST may provide an excellent balance between providing power when you need it and conserving power when you don't.

5 out of 5 eggsReally powerful for only 35w

Pros: Runs all the games I can throw at it, this includes the Dolphin Gamecube Emulator.

Very low power for a 65nm chip.

Cons: Expensive, but I guess that is bound to happen when it is so powerful, but takes so little power.

5 out of 5 eggsVery good laptop CPU

Pros: I Owned this (T7700) and the T9300 so i have a feel for both.
This is one powerful processor. It has a multitude of features which help it save battery life while *not gaming.*

The only game i owned that i can think of that taxed this processor is supreme commander (90%-100%). Every other game, Bioshock, FEAR, call of duty 2, command and conquer 3, Company of heroes, Oblivion, UT 3, etc. (those are the most demanding i can think of) ran with only a maximum of 78% processor use.

(lol i got it up to 100% by highlighting all the icons on my desktop and hitting enter)

Cons: From what i remember, it was the hottest component in my laptop even trumping the 8700M GT Graphic card.

I remember upscaling one 7mb 640 x 320i file to 1920 x 1080p HD quality............................ ill let you know when i'm finished.

Other Thoughts: It actually took about 3 hours to upscale that file.

This processor goes well with 2+ GB of memory and/or a 8650M GS or 8700M GT video card.

I had an 8700M GT with 4gb of memory and vista home premium was *loosing* the war to kill my laptop... .badly!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Upgrade!

Pros: FAST! Makes my Gateway P-6831FX much more responsive than the T5450 that was in it. Vista score jumped from 4.6 to 5.3 for cpu score. 4MB cache comes in handy when gaming. This G0 stepping runs much cooler than my T5450. About 10C cooler on avg.

Cons: Pricey.

Other Thoughts: If I had to pay full retail price (which I didn't), I would have gone for the T9300 instead. They are practically the same price.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: Great processer. It just blows me away. I upgraded from a C2D 1.5GHz to this and was amazed at the difference it made.

Cons: Sadly since its a mobile processor, if you want to use it for gaming be sure you have a decent graphics card installed as well. I have more horsepower than the graphics card (8600M GT 256mb) can handle.

Other Thoughts: Unlike the other people who have purchased this CPU its ran very COOL for me never above 45 degrees C unlike my previous processor which ran 75 to 90 degrees C.

Its definitely worth the money in my opinion.

5 out of 5 eggsVery fast

Pros: Very fast. Runs "real world" programs as fast as my BadAx2/E6600@3600. Very impressed. Definite overkill for it's application but I wasn't sure how good it would be so I went w/ the fastest socket "P" available.

Cons: Runs "HOT" !!

Other Thoughts: Got this to build my car computer around. MSI MS-9803 mini-itx m/b w/ 2x2gb A-Data ddr2-800, Hitachi 200gb 7500rpm Sata 150 notebook HD, Panasonic UJ-85J Slimline slotloader R/W DVD & Xenarc 1020tsv monitor (splits to run in dual screen). Loaded xp Pro 32bit, office 2003, GPS, all my video programs, touchscreen programs, automotive diagnostics, OBD programming programs, AT&T Sierra 3gb wireless 875U aircard & evertning worked great !! Ran everest stress tests thru 1 hr hot/cold sequences to set the artic silver. Temps started @ 80C and finally setteled @ 68-69C. Good thing I read the specs or it really would have scared me. 100C is operating limit. Runs all the programs @ 60-70% CPU utilization @ 50C-52C max. Kind of hard to get used to those temps after water cooling all my desktops for years and never seeing anything over 40C @ 100%.

Get one, you'll like it :-)

5 out of 5 eggsIt's a great CPU

Pros: This is a really good CPU, actually the best one can find for a laptop right now. I have not yet experienced any troubles with any games, programs or applications I have thrown at it.

Cons: It's a bit pricey and it also heats up a bit, so I would recommend using a laptop cooler, specially if you place it on your lap.

Other Thoughts: I added this CPU to a Sony FZ180, it was a really hard upgrade since Sony did not make it easy to get into the PC; however, it was worth all the hard work. For those that have an FZ be sure to remove every single screw on the bottom, including those in the hard drive, RAM and battery compartment (yes, remove the RAM and Hard drive). Then remove the speaker panel carefully, unscrew the 2 screws holding the keyboard, and pull it out. Then remove the little screws close to the left speaker, as well as all th ones holding the LCD in place (be VERY careful reclosing the loose LCD). Once the laptop looks closed again flip it around carefully and remove the whole bottom piece. You have found the heatsink!! ...anyways, hope that helps those with an FZ.

If you really do not have to, go with the T7500, it costs a bit less and the performance difference is close.
