4 out of 5 eggsGood Processor, TERRIBLE Cooler.

Pros: Fast all in one solution for a decent price. Does the job.

Cons: Absolutely terrible stock cooler. Make sure to buy a better one!

Other Thoughts: I bought this CPU on 6/21/2013 for an HTPC/Home Server. On first install I decided to use the stock cooler. I put it together and it booted it up, set up my stuff, and let it run. After about a week I actually bothered to check the temps and it was peaking at around 97c, on not more than 30% load mind you. Needless to say I shut it down right away and picked out an aftermarket cooler.

Ever since I installed the new cooler, temps have not exceeded 60c on full load, and everything runs noticeably smoother.

Although I usually buy aftermarket coolers, I figured I could get away with with the stock cooler since I hadn't planned any OCing right off the bat. This decision was based solely on my experience with Intel stock coolers, and the fact that they usually do the job as long as you don't OC. Come on AMD! How hard can it be to put a half decent fan on a hunk of metal?

5 out of 5 eggsGreat performance for the money.

Pros: -Cheep
-Easy to find a motherboard
-Great for light gaming and can be paired with a high powered GPU for advanced gaming.

Cons: -The fan

Other Thoughts: The fan that comes with it is not sufficient, buy a better fan or liquid cooled system.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU

Pros: Fast CPU for the price, I haven't been using the graphics in it, I use an EVGA GTX 650 and they work beautifully together. I really recommend this CPU.

Cons: Very very loud stock fan on this when it gets got. Going to buy an aftermarket fan.

1 out of 5 eggsSomething not right

Pros: integrated Graphics, can run 40-60 fps on League at lowest settings, 4 cores

Cons: Desktop graphics are terrible, the rating on WEI is 3.6
and then gaming graphics is 6.7

something is definably wrong

Other Thoughts: I have downloaded new drivers, and ran a few utility tools that came with the processor, but I am not finding a fix for this graphics issue. a few people online said that they had to replace there's. which makes me really bummed out. its already past the time I have to return or replace this :/

4 out of 5 eggsGaming

Pros: this unit is a four core processor which works really well when im using a multiple programs at the same time which im sure is pretty common for most people nowadays. Playing streaming music in the background in one tab and playing some games on while running system performance software also in the background to check temps, fps and power consumption.

Cons: this processor does feel a bit laggy when it comes to gaming. The integrated graphics is ok but the fps are well below 25 for most of the games that i play, i also play on a 70" 1080p tv which doesnt help, but none the less i had to get an r7 260x just so that i could game comfortably with some good visuals and less lag. The processor gets blazing hot and the fan is constantly going , i don't have it overclocked.

Other Thoughts: overall this processor i would recomend for a budget gaming rig that could last abut 2 years before it starts strugglig with games in the future as the new generation of console has now ben around for a year now and developers are finding they can push more with gaming visuals.

4 out of 5 eggsGaming on a budget

Pros: I got this APU as part of a combo for budget gaming and it does the trick for my gaming needs.

StarcraftII - 1440x900 Medium Quality - 35 to 50 fps
Borderlands 1440x900 Medium Quality 30 to 40 fps
Skyrim - 1440x900 Medium/Low Quality 25 to 30 fps

CPU temperatures idle around 22C to 30C and under load average 40C - 55C. The hottest I have seen it get while gaming is up to 59C. This is using the stock cooler so I'm sure there would be better temps with an aftermarket cooler.

The last gaming system I had was a Phenom II X4 3.4ghz with a GTX 275 and this APU performance is close but not quite as good as the stand alone card.

Cons: Many hardware monitoring software is not able to accurately read the temperature of this APU. When I first built the system and checked the temps in bios it said it was idling at over 60C and it would fluctuate erratically. I downloaded several hardware monitoring programs and most of them did not even read any temperatures from the CPU at all.

Other Thoughts: I am using an MSI motherboard and they have a program called Command Center that is updated frequently and it was able to read the proper temperature of the CPU.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU

Pros: Purchased this on sale from Newegg for less than a 100 bucks. Installed it on a MSI FM2 board for a new home server using my purchased copy of Windows Server 2012R2 Essentials. With 16GB G.Skill memory the server really has great throughput of data. No video card needed. Excellent CPU all around.

Cons: None. AMD always provides a great bang for your buck.

Other Thoughts: The server runs 24/7. No temperature issues with the CPU. Loving it.

5 out of 5 eggsbest computer I've had

Pros: Put it on an ASUS mobo and gave it 16 gigs of DDR3 1600 RAM not because I need it but just for once I wanted to have way too much RAM. I build a second identical machine for upstairs and it works fine with only 8 gigs.

I didn't buy AMD to save money I bought AMD because I like AMD. I have noticed that the computer provided for me at work is an Intel at 2x the price and that this computer is markedly inferior in graphics performance even though the university has superior high speed access.

Cons: There are a lot of comments here about the need for an aftermarket fan. I favor a quiet build and I can't imagine why *anyone* would want *anything* but an aftermarket fan. OEM fans tend to be small fast and noisy as a result of being fast. I'm running a Noctua fan low rpm, big blades, and temps are usually in the 30s. I also have three additional low speed fans in the box, two exhaust and one intake.

Other Thoughts: For a while I was addicted to Battlestar Galactica on line and was getting anywhere from 60 to 150 fps.

In order to run two screens at once I had to buy a graphics card. This is mainly a question of what the mobo permits in terms of hookup. I have it set up so that a movie can be streamed in the living room while I work on the same computer with a spreadsheet or word processor.

By building ahead of the curve in terms of minimum processor and RAM requirements I expect that this hardware will work on the next OS upgrade. I invested in a top end "gold" power supply to enhance longevity. With an SSD for the OS the system boots in less than 30 seconds cold and less than 5 seconds from sleep mode.
