5 out of 5 eggsGreat value

Pros: Caught this when it was on sale for cheaper than the FX-6300 (which I already have in another box). More performance than that other CPU, though I can't really tell the difference.

Cons: N/A

3 out of 5 eggsAlright.

Pros: It was cheap.

Cons: AMD has really started to slack a lot recently... Please see other comments.

Other Thoughts: My old AM3 mainboard died and I picked up an AM3+ to reuse my old 955 black edition (OC'ed to 3.6GHz.) Techlust kicked in, and I picked up this chip to squeeze some more life out of it. Managed to catch this for under a hundred, so it was quite a bit of a bargain.

However, the disappointment set in when I actually benchmarked this processor. Phenom 2 955@3.6GHz scores a 348 in Cinebench R15, this one pulls 472 stock, and 543 when OC'ed to 4.52GHz, which is the max stable OC I can get. This really fails in comparison to my friends Intel system that pulls 760 on his rig, which was built at the same time, several years ago. I basically bought 2 processors across several years, and spent about the same amount of money and I'm STILL behind his rig. I understand that this chip is designed to compete at the i5 levels, but it still struggles there. Games still hiccup here and there and I have to say I wasn't nearly as excited to upgrade to this processor as every time I previously had before.

If I had known what I do now when my mainboard crashed a few months ago, I would have spent the extra money and built an Intel system... and this is coming from a guy who used to swear by AMD. Yes I still recommend it to people for cheap builds, but if they need any kind of serious processing power, Intel is the only way to go nowadays... and I HATE saying that.

5 out of 5 eggsLots of Power

Pros: Really fast.

It does create some heat, and the fan CAN BE LOUD.

You need cooling for this chip, yes the stock cooler is FINE, but you need to ventilate your case so the CPU fan doesn't turn into a jet engine.

good thermal paste, wipe that stock stuff off.

120mm fan in the case door blowing down at the proc, 120mm case fan in the back pulling hot air out.

done, quiet, and runs cool for the wattage of the proc.

if you stick this in a case with poor air flow, its going to be loud as heck and raise your room temp 10 degrees.

Cons: none, caught it on sale for 100.00 psh yes please!!!!!!!!!!!!

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing for the price!

Pros: I am a music engineer (nobody famous), I use my computer for processing and editing music. My older computer was outdated and just couldn't handle the power i needed anymore. I upgraded on a budget and bought this CPU. and ITS AMAZING. Runs my previous projects that my old CPU could not handle with about an 8th of the power. I don't deny there may be better CPU's ofcoarse, but for the price this was GREAT so far.

Cons: The stock CPU fan is extremely loud, which is horrible given my job as an audio engineer. Luckily i work in a sound proofed control room separate from the actual recording studio. This thing is seriously like a vacuum. I took the other reviews of this with a grain of salt and now i understand their pain. I am definitely looking into a new CPU cooler.

Other Thoughts: CPU is amazing. Especially for the price. I don't have any regrets so far buying this other than the fact that the 8-core version went on the sale the day after i purchased this -.- for nearly the same price.

CPU = amazing

CPU fan = extremely loud... CAUTION : wear ear protection.

5 out of 5 eggsFX 6350 Black Edition

Pros: I replaced my Phenom 1055t 2.8 ghz for this. the performance is definitely noticeable. I can game while my computer performs background taka like video game recording, windows update, or other misc operations without any hiccups.
With the proper air cooling system, this chip runs cool.

Cons: Nothing at the moment. The loud stock heatsink doesn't impact the chips performance. I won't gripe about it's fan. It's the same stock cooler I got with my Phenom, but I have a Cool Master to user instead. If you spend 30 extra dollars, you can solve the problem with relative ease.

5 out of 5 eggshappy

Pros: upgraded from x2 dual to this. very happy.
fast. handles multitasking with ease. i am not an oc'er anymore (used to oc like a mad scientist), so stock performance is very good. handles all my games with ease. i do intensive cad and photshop, and the computation/compile times are surprizingly fast. Benchmarks may indicate bottlenecks, but real-time performance show nothing of the kind. Your system will *not* be slow.

i fully recommend this cpu.

Cons: there is really only one con about the fx-6350, THE STOCK FAN.

Every time i turned on the computer, i would yell at my wife to stop vacuuming, only to realize that it was the stock fan. IT IS VERY LOUD. Like 60-70 decibels. My system is in the bedroom where i can lay in the bed with wireless k+m and recline with joy and ease before a 32" monitor overshadowing the foot of the bed. After purchasing this cpu, my wife and i couldn't sleep due to the noise if i left the computer running overnight. We bought extra pillows and sandwiched our head between them to remedy the noise. I could even hear the fan from the kitchen! In the bedroom, it sounded like the outside a/c unit was sitting inside the room. i am an amd junkie, but amd really dropped the ball regarding the LOUD FAN. Apparently, q&a heard the fan and said, "sounds nice. we'll go with it."

There are rumors of owners encasing thier rigs in foil and bubble wrap and placing them inside of a refrigerator sized box filled with padding and peanuts to dampen the noise. Google has videos on how to drill holes in the ceiling to run the box from your attic if you are concerned about the fan noise.

Other Thoughts: After managing through the maddening noise for 4-5 months, a positive thing happened. In a fury of borderline insanity and frustration from the screeching banshee fan, i jumped the fence of hsf, went totally silent and bought a ZALMAN FX70 Fanless CPU Cooler.

WOW!! Dead silence! So much so, that I just ordered the Seasonic SS-460FL2 Active PFC F3, 460W Fanless power supply. Even now i can't hear whether the system is on/off unless i put my ear to the case. Couldn't believe the huge fanless heatsink could keep a 6-core cool. it does!

Thanks amd for the jet-powered, tornado sounding fan, whos noise turned my house into a google server room. it forced me to go fanless and i haven't look back. Because of this, i did not knock off any eggs because my house has become completely silent. We can hear the morning birds again.

The cpu itself is flawless and an amd home run. best band for the buck. you got a solid, fast, powerful chip in this one.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect Upgrade

Pros: This is a very efficient CPU. I upgraded from a Phenom x6 1055T. Newegg shipped Black Edition (THANKS!). Using a Cool Master D92, the operating temps, even when gaming, are low. The default heat sink is the same AMD has been using for a while. I'm not sure how efficient that is. Very cost effective upgrade.

Cons: None.

4 out of 5 eggsWorth it

Pros: Bang for buck. I bought this for a sub $1200(cad) build (First build yay!) and I haven't been disappointed yet. This cpu never seems to give me trouble. So far I've upgraded my psu, mobo, and soon will my gpu, but I feel this thing will be part of my pc for a while longer.

The stock 3.9ghz is pretty good for today's gamer, but this baby can easily push past it. I run mine at 4.3ghz but have had it pushed to 4.5 without much tinkering. I'm sure someone who is overclock savvy could push this thing even farther.

You won't have to sell an organ to pay for it like Intel...

Cons: I'm sure there is some but I can't think of any.

As far as competition Intel has better tech, but that's common knowledge.

Other Thoughts: I paired it with a 3rd party cooler. The one it comes with looks pretty wimpy and may cause heat issues.

4 out of 5 eggsAbnoxious fan

Pros: On a budget this is the cpu for you. Runs world of garrison fantastic under rather intense settings. idle 16-20 degrees, with actual tolerable fan sound. Under load 44-50 degrees. Once gaming though, imagine a semi-diesel's turbo about to spool, for a fan noise, or a jet's turbine.

Cons: Could be the worlds loudest fan to have ever been used as a stock fan for a cpu. Must replace asap rocky.

Other Thoughts: I plan to overclock, read a few reviews, most likely will overclock to 4.2 ghz. Currently waiting on the Cooler master nepton 120 to be shipped so i can do so.

Overall, even with fan noises, happy with purchase.
