The Quad Core Xeon E5504 processor delivers impressive performance -- up to 4 times that of earlier generation single-core processors. Each of the cores has an L1 and L2 cache, and an additional 4MB of shared L3 cache; this lets the Xeon E5504 handle heavy loads and large data sets. You also get Intel Virtualization Technology hardware enhancements that support software-based virtualization. Pros: Nehalem architechture. Great price price point at the moment.

Cons: No Hyper Threading.

Other Thoughts: I'm posting this review just to make sure future purchases know that this processor does not support htt technology aka hyperthreading aka simultaneous multi-threading aka smt. The HTT starts at E5520 and up.

Pros: Excellent cpu for the price running dual configuration with ESXI. Running win 08 with hyper v, Windows with Netapp Operation Manager, Running ubuntue 64 with 6 Netapp Simms with no lag.

Cons: Wish Hypertheading would make down to the lower end Xeons.

Pros: good price, works

Cons: 800 Mhz! ram speed that is. it would have been nice to know that my ram max speed is now locked at 800Mhz, rather than 1066 like i anticipated. before today i did not know a processor had anything to do in effecting RAM speeds.

Other Thoughts: i bought 2 for a server that is more or less running at half its potential.

wow the things companies hide under the carpet.
at least AMD did things RIGHT!

	Supports Intel Virtualization Technology (Intel VT) With Intel VT, one hardware platform functions as multiple "virtual" platforms. For business, Intel VT offers improved manageability, limiting downtime and maintaining worker productivity by isolating computing activities into separate partitions. In the home, Intel VT allows for the creation of unique user environments for different family members who are using the same platform simultaneously.
	Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (Intel EM64T) Enhances next-generation IA-32 platforms with 64-bit addressability and related instructions, allowing flexibility for both 64-bit and 32-bit applications and operating systems.
	Execute Disable Bit (EDB) Intel's Execute Disable Bit function can prevent certain classes of malicious "buffer overflow" attacks when combined with a supporting operating system. Execute Disable Bit allows the processor to classify areas of the memory where application code can execute and where it cannot. When a malicious worm attempts to insert code into the buffer, the processor disables code execution, preventing damage or worm propagation.
