Kingston's HyperX Plug-and-Play (PnP) is designed to improve the performance of your Sandy Bridge notebook or DIY system. Increase speed without changing system settings — PnP is preset for maximum speeds and easy to install. It's compatible with Generation 2 Core i5 and i7 and also with the latest Intel Sandy Bridge P67 and Z68 chipset. Plus it's backwards compatible without the plug-and-play functionality.

  • newegg HyperX PnP 4GB (2 x 2GB) PC3-12800 (1600MHz) Dual-Channel Laptop Kit These high performance memory modules have been tested to run at JEDEC DDR3-1600 at a latency timing of 9-9-9-27 at 1.5V. Additional timing parameters are shown in the PnP Timing Parameters section.
  • newegg Faster Just Got Easier Kingston's HyperX PnP memory is programmed with faster frequencies and when 'plugged' into a system using the Sandy Bridge chipset, will automatically 'play' at rated speed in both desktop and notebook PCs - no further BIOS settings required. (Note: PnP implementation is only possible in configurations that include a BIOS that supports the PnP function. Your maximum speed will be determined by your BIOS.)

3 out of 5 eggsNo-go

Pros: None I can tell.

Cons: It didn't take to my macbook(5,1 - late 2008).

Other Thoughts: I never really tested it. It didn't boot and if it tried I got an immediate kernel panic. Wish I had known.

5 out of 5 eggsWow

Pros: Plug N Play recognized it fast. Increased load up times and over all speed of the system greatly. Win 7 rating system gives it a 5.2 out of 7.9

Cons: my laptop is now maxed when it comes to ram.... but not the ram's fault! LOL!!

Other Thoughts: Definitely worth the price for the speed, name of brand and the fact that the ram has heat spreaders!

3 out of 5 eggsWorks in Macbook Pro but...

Pros: Worked out of the box with MacBook Pro 2.2Q early 2011
No Kernel panics , No errors
Might have improved the performance

Cons: Made the computer run very hot
Fan working nonstop
Battery life clearly shorter

Other Thoughts: I would have seen the difference if I had a SSD and 8gb of this RAM.
At 4GB I dont see the added value, For most Macbook pro users its too expensive and they wont notice the performance difference. May do wonders in a gaming laptop but not for Macbook Pros

3 out of 5 eggsEarly 2011 Macbook pro

Pros: Definite speed boost once OS is loaded, recognized right away without updating bios, easy to install.

Cons: Start up time (time from pushing the power button to time the login screen appears) seems to have gone up significantly. I don't know if it has something to do with the bios or the ram, but i wish i knew how to fix it.

Other Thoughts: Overall the ram is worth it, just sucks that load up times seems to have increased.
