Dramatically increase the performance and extend the lifecycle of your existing system with Kingston's SSDNow V+ Series solid-state drive! Targeted for high-level consumers and small and medium businesses, the second-generation Kingston SSDNow V+ Series offers higher performance than its predecessor and supports Windows 7 TRIM functionality, which helps the SSD maintain high performance through the life of the drive. Adding an SSD to a desktop already using a standard hard disk drive is a smart and efficient way to upgrade. Transferring the operating system and applications from the HDD to the SSD allows the SSD to be used as a bootable drive that takes full advantage of the Flash-based technology. The SSD and the HDD then co-exist to drive optimal performance in the upgraded desktop. For notebooks, SSDNow drives are a perfect replacement for hard drives resulting in faster, more reliable performance. Making this change will improve a notebook's efficiency in a wide range of tasks, from booting up to running the most robust operating system and demanding applications. The SSDNow V+ Series drive uses a standard SATA interface but, unlike a regular HDD, SSD is very rugged and built with no moving parts, making it ideal for power users and road warriors who push the limits of their notebooks. Other benefits include reduced power usage, less noise and less heat generation.

Kingston's SSDNow V+ Series offers performance gains and power consumption reductions at a fraction of the cost of a new system. For added peace of mind, they're backed by 24/7 tech support, a three-year warranty and legendary Kingston reliability.

  • newegg SSD Storage Technology Acting without any moving parts, the Kingston SSDNow V+ Series SNVP325-S2B/64GB solid-state drive boasts multiple advanced features including zero mechanical noise, faster data rates compared to conventional HDDs, over 1-million-hour life span, ultra-low power consumption and impressive shock, vibration and extreme temperature resistance. With these breakthrough capabilities, the SSD meets all the demanding requirements for high-performance storage.
  • newegg Windows 7 TRIM Support The Kingston SSDNow V+ Series SNVP325-S2B/64GB solid-state drive offers Windows 7 TRIM support, which uses ATA commands to increase the SSD write speeds in Windows 7. It also cuts down on the amount of data to be deleted, increasing the SSD’s lifespan and allowing it to delete garbage data in advance.
  • newegg SATA 3.0 Gb/s Interface The Kingston SSDNow V+ Series SNVP325-S2B/64GB solid-state drive features the next-generation SATA II interface supporting up to 3.0 Gb/s data transfer rates, Native Command Queuing (NCQ) and hot-pluggable point-to-point connections for optimum performance, efficiency, convenience and flexibility.
  • newegg Complete Bundle Kit The SSDNow V+ Series drive comes with a bundle upgrade kit that contains all the accessories needed for a smooth upgrade, including Acronis True Image HD System Cloning software and instructions, mounting brackets, USB external enclosure and cables.

5 out of 5 eggsKingston SSDNow V+ Series

Pros: Extremely easy to install, didn't use the imaging software as I upgraded Vista (slow) to Win 7. Have owned this drive 8+ months now and still boots up and will go to the Google home page in 40 seconds. Doubled my battery time. Installed on a Sony laptop with 2 Gig mem., Dual core running at 1.8 Ghz.
Have installed Adobe Photoshop, Open office, Audicity & more plus lots of utility Pgms. Still have more than half of the drive space available for use. It's just Zoom Zoom compared to other drives.

Cons: None !

Other Thoughts: Was looking to buy another and I noticed that some of the newer drives required a firmware update but can't find If I need one or not. Perhaps not since this one is still going strong.

5 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: It does what it needs to. I personally don't need anywhere near 64 GB of space. Boots Win7 really fast! I didn't read what would come with it, so when I found the external USB enclosure I was taken aback.

Cons: None, so far.

Other Thoughts: If it dies, I don't care. I never keep important data on a root drive. I will be buying another one for use in a file server's root drive.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it

Pros: Windows 7 Ultimate install was fast. Copying the files from disc was the longest part. Completely silent, no heat. Enough space to allow for a few programs and updates to those programs as well as windows.

Cons: I wish that SSD's had a longer life span (read/write cycles). While the price has come down, the high storage space is pretty much going to be for those people who HAVE to have it and for servers with alot of traffic. But then that lifespan comes into play for the servers...

Other Thoughts: When I bought this I went ahead and bought an external HDD case for my drive that I was pulling out of my laptop. So I got a 500GB external and a 64GB internal SSD for less than $150. Not a bad deal.

3 out of 5 eggsmeh...

Pros: Pros..? Pros..? ...It's not slower than my WD Caviar.

I shaved about 15 seconds off of my start up. Now I need to decide what I can do with all of that free time...

Oh, shipping was insanely fast. Thanks!

Cons: A big expense for a marginal improvement. The free cloning software requires a payment if you want to do anything with it other than simply clone a HD or back up your entire system.

Other Thoughts: Unless your HD is dead, or nearly so, I would suggest that you wait to make this purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful with Linux

Pros: Fast, fast, fast. Extremely easy to configure in Linux.

Cons: Mounting hardware is pathetic, but I was able to use the supplied parts plus personal stock to put something together which worked.

Other Thoughts: Installed this and set it up as a boot/system drive with /tmp, /var, and /home being on standard spinning platter HDD. The goal was to minimize writes to the SSD albeit system updates and such write to SSD. The performance is outstanding with boot time and program load times greatly reduced. This SSD is supposed to have better garbage collection so hopefully longer-term use will not be an issue in regards to performance degradation.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome SSD

Pros: Absolutely wonder SSD. This is the first one I have ever owned but the difference is amazing. My macbook pro went from a 45 second boot time to a 20 second boot time. My programs open almost instantly now. This has been critical for me since I am a full time student and every spare second counts. The power consumption has also been very good with my mac as well ( I have the 13" unibody). I can still get 6 hours unplugged if I keep my screen brightness down.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes what it advertises!

Pros: Easy to install, great software for transfer of the OS.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I an running XP, which may result in lower life, but really like how quite this is. Some complain it is small, but I don't store any files on my boot drive, so it is plenty big, I could have use a 32.

4 out of 5 eggsSpeedy Boot-up

Pros: - Fast Throughput
- TRIM support
- SATA Compatability

Cons: - "Small" for a Win7 Ultimate installation. With a fresh Windows 7 Ultimate install, after installing all drivers and the Virtual Windows XP Machine, I've got about 17GB full on the drive. Seeing as most of the online guides I've read suggest having 1/2 the drive free, it would probably make sense to get a larger capacity drive, especially if you're going to install applications and games to the drive.
- Set-up Documentation (CD-ROM only, no printed docs). I had some issues figuring out how to mount the brackets on the drive in order to get it into the hard drive bay. It would have been nice to have a small printed guide on how to do it, rather than having it on a CD-ROM

Other Thoughts: I'm very glad that I decided to make the SSD plunge and am currently using this as my OS drive on my system. Start-up and shut-down times are very speedy and the OS is very responsive (fresh install). Instantly recognized by my motherboard as a hard drive with no additional drivers or BIOS flashing needed.

** If you're going to use a utility like HDERASE to reset the drive to factory defaults, make sure it's connected to the 1- or 2- SATA channel on your MOBO, or it'll get locked up.
