1 out of 5 eggsEarly Failure

Pros: Reasonably fast, reasonably priced, reliable till it failed.

Cons: Failed at the 1 year mark. Can't believe it only made it thru one year, barely. Two other Kingston SSDs have also failed, but they lasted 15 months. Drives like this make me look bad to my customers.

Other Thoughts: Used in a DVR that runs 24/7 for the OS and application software only. All recorded video is sent to an external drive. SSDs, especially Kingston, have a long way to go before I can rely on them. I will never put anything critical on an SSD. When SSDs fail, kiss all the data good bye. When a rotating drive fails, I have a good chance of recovering much of the data.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks just fine

Pros: Works fine, plug-and-play, no problems whatsoever. Silent, fast. Stable and dependable so far

Cons: None that I can think of. Size, perhaps, but that was a given, and it does not affect me.

Other Thoughts: Should work fine as a boot drive for a Linux OS. Running Peppermint 2 64-bit.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little ssd

Pros: Works as intended, perfect for my server. Silent and cool operation and you can put it literally anywhere. I stuck it to the wall of the case with velcro.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Running in a Crunchbang Linux server. SSD is the only way to go when you're running a simple gaming server.

4 out of 5 eggsWhat more could you expect

Pros: Low heat, low energy, low cost, high speed.

Cons: Capacity, I guess, though its not shocking that a 16gb drive only comes with 16gbs so its not really a con.

Other Thoughts: I put this in my little laptop and run Fedora on it. It does the job, the laptop is much snappier with it than with the 5400 rpm drive it came with. From a dollar/capacity standpoint SSDs are "expensive" but form a dollar/speed standpoint SSDs are monumentally cheap.

I have had this for maybe 10 months and a differend SSD in my main desktop for about 2 years. Never had any sort of reliability issue with either, but always have backups like any reasonable person should.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY

Pros: High speed

Cons: Do not buy this drive if you intend to use it for more than 30 days. These drives have a 80% failure rating. Tried to save a few bucks with my small business, and these things are dying left and right. Granted, they're powered on 24/7, but normal hard drives don't suddenly freeze and refuse to come back. Spend the extra cash, get a Crucial or Intel.

5 out of 5 eggsSSD Kingston

Pros: Excellent drive. Running HyperVisor on drive currently now steadily for over 6 months with zero downtime. Fast, reliable, and perfect size for our application.

Cons: Not sure why price jumped w/ spindle drive shortages, but a function of economics I guess applies here. Price to size compared to other drives of larger sizes. Would be a waste to us as we do not need the extra space.
