The new standard
- Pros: It's DDR3, the new RAM, which is what will be used from here on out, and DDR2 will soon take the back seat and eventually die out. It's fast, and it's what newer programs and games will need.
- Cons: Expensive of course. It did just come out.
- Other Thoughts: If you look at the overall specifications, the latency on DDR3 is actually greater than on some of the the fastest speed DDR2, which in some cases mean it's actually slower. But face the music, soon that won't be an issue as DDR3 begins its reign. If you want an updatable computer, get a motherboard that supports DDR3 (because DDR2 WILL NOT work in a DDR3 board, visa versa) and get a motherboard that supports Quad Cores with support for the upcoming 45nm chips from Intel. ASUS P5K3 Deluxe is your mobo. I know it's tempting to get that Nvidia 680 SLI board, because it's faster, but it runs DDR2 and no support for the upcoming chips, so it will soon be obsolete to advances in computer technology. For the sake of updatability, just spend the extra money to ensure your not paying loads in the near future for an all new computer.
Corsair Ram
- Pros: Works as advertised with P5K3 Deluxe Motherboard
- Cons: Expensive

awful luck
- Pros: bought a set this ram for my evga 790i ultra mobo, which worked well until...
- Cons: .... i bought my second set. all was well using 4gb for a month. then i started having blue screens and other really weird errors and i couldnt trace it. after a few OS reinstalls (im dual booting vista and 7) i gave up for a bit. then one day, i looked at CPUID and what did i find? althogh all 4 of my sticks say 1333mhz on the outside, and ALTHOUGH i used the same link to order both sets, one of them (according to CPUID) is 1066 and the other is 1333. to top it all off, i ran memtest and one of the sticks is bad. switching ram now...
- Other Thoughts: would run stably in 790i if you have 4 identical sticks... i for some reaosn was not blessed with this. also, 1333 C9 is not impressive; the ram i bought to replace this with is 1600 7-7-7-24 and the same price. just throwing that out there.
Great for price, fast, no complaints
- Pros: This runs fast, no problems at all. I initially bought one pair for my build back in January, but soon found out that Windows 7 64 likes more than 2GB, so I picked up another pair in May, for a total of 4GB in my build. Unlike some other posts, NO PROBLEMS AT ALL running 4 sticks in my build. Running stable at stock speed, 1T. I have overclocked 10%, no problems, I just feel no need to continue overclocking (all games run above 60fps anyways). I burned these in overnight with Memtest86+, 0 errors!!! I highly recommend this RAM, btw, both pairs that I ordered had zero errors, 1st time for me in a long time that I didn't get defective RAM.
- Cons: none whatsoever, other than they updated their sticks between January and now (run different voltages) I'm running all for at the higher of the 2 V ratings, and they are stable. (they run lower voltage now 1.6v vs. 1.75v, i think)
- Other Thoughts: Asus M4A79T Deluxe socket AM3
AMD Phenom II 720be (running at stock and 3.2GHz on stock air) 4GB these ram, 4 modules in 4 DIMM slots. Nvidia 8800GTSoc 640GB RAID 0 HDD Windows 7 RC build 7100 7.5 RAM on the Windows 7 index
I'm not sure what the other post is talking about with problems running all 4 DIMM's installed. I have standard air cooling (120mm intake, 120mm exhaust, 80mm side intake, PSU 80mm exhaust) and there is no problem running 4 installed in my MB. I burned in all night, gamed for hours, absolutely no problems. Only hitch I think is that 2- 2GB sticks are now about the same price as 2 pairs of these, so if I was building now I might spend the little extra to be able to easily upgrade to 8GB later down the road.
EXCELLENT
- Pros: Great price (with rebate). It does what it supposed to do.
- Cons: None.
