Wonderful Memory
- Pros: Works flawlessly as advertised. I had to send back for replacement after 6 months as it gave me BSOD. I don't fault the company or memory, just a thing in life. They rma'd me a brand new set and I'm golden at 2131hz and 8-8-8-20. I've had this memory about a year. I bought it whenit was 325 a triple kit.
- Cons: The jail cell price. But honestly I can see why, I bet this memory is B to produce.
- Other Thoughts: If you can afford, pay the price...
On a side note, get a mobo that auto overclocks. I have the GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD4P. I set it to clock speed I wanted and it reboots a few times and bam, has calibrated itself. I went through all the pain to manually do all that stuff with the cpu and memory myself but to be truthful I can't tell the difference between my hard earned overclocking and the mobo's kindergarden overclocking steps. BUT if one didn't have the kick boody memory in the first place then you couldn't use the neat overclocking features of the board.
- Pros: It works
- Cons: The price keeps going up
- Other Thoughts: I did not install the fan since I only have 6GB and good ventilation but I did size up the fan and a thin strip of rubber, rubber tubing or heat shrink at the end of the mounting arms would dampen the vibration and better support the installation.
Fastest RAM for i7
- Pros: AMAZING RAM!!! Runs @ advertised speeds and better.
I have my i7 920 OC'd to 4.0GHz with the RAM @2005MHz, 7-8-7-20 timings instead of the stock 8-8-8-24, and it is completely stable 100%. Supports XMP as well. You cant go wrong at all with this memory.
- Cons: Well, the obvious one is the price, but you get what you pay for. I bought my set when they were $324.99, instead of the $400 it is now. Also, the fans that come with it are a bit loud when set on the memory. If you have a quiet system, then they may be a nuisance. If you want to OC them, then I suggest you use it. The fan assembly is also kinda flimsy in a way. It slides back and forth where it sits on the memory retention clips.
- Other Thoughts: I still give this 5 eggs, because the performance outweighs the negatives for me. If you are an overclocker or enthusiast, this RAM has your name written on it. You will not be disappointed with this at all.
