Samsung’s Solid State Drive radically changes the way you play the game. Upgrade your rig for faster response, greater performance and an overall superior gaming experience. The optimized solid-state technology gives you that extra edge. Whether you’re a tech enthusiast or a hardcore gamer, a Samsung SSD will maximize your ability to get more done in less time.

  • newegg Wait less. Do more. Spend more time doing and less time waiting. Samsung Solid State Drives maximize the capabilities of your PC and get more done in less time. This means less time for a computer to boot up or programs to launch. Data is available much quicker and overall response time is significantly improved. The Samsung 470 Series MZ-5PA064/US SSD drive has industry-leading performance of up to 250MB/sec sequential read speed and 170MB/sec sequential write speed which leads to computers booting up in as little as 15 seconds and programs opening up in seconds. Improved multi-tasking allows you to easily edit photos while downloading a movie.
  • newegg Play Longer Stay in the game longer with less energy consumption. A Samsung SSD drive has no moving parts so it uses two-thirds less power than a typical hard drive and you get rid of hard drive spin ups and noise. This also adds an average of 30 minutes to a laptop’s battery or decreases the amount of electricity needed to run a hard drive on a desktop computer. Go green and keep costs down!
  • newegg Distinctive Brushed Metal Design Samsung’s Solid State Drive design has a look to match its performance. The sturdy brushed metal hard shell case protects from shock, dust and corrosion. Since there are no moving parts inside the drive, there is a greater reliability to protect data. And with a light 2.4oz weight, it makes laptops lighter to carry.

3 out of 5 eggslasted through warranty

Pros: Inexpensive. One of two is still working.

Cons: 3 year warranty and it died at almost exactly 3 years. Isn't even recognized as a drive. Just dead.

5 out of 5 eggsImpressive

Pros: light and cool
fast response
no noise

Cons: sata2 but it is ok for laptop
only 64G but it is current days for SSD

Other Thoughts: My new notebook has an easy option to change HDD so I changed to SSD. I can improve battery life w/o major heat source.
I am enjoying almost instant booting in several seconds.
My major storage HDD is external through USB3.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive

Pros: Great drive, works well with windows xp on my old dell tower. Setup the magician software from samsung and it seems to work fine on 2 of my units that don't support ahci. On my old acer laptop I went from 45mb buffered disk reads in linux to 120+ on a sata 1 controller. On my pc with windows xp on a non ahci mainboard the unit runs great. Good solution for older os's.

Cons: small for the $ but thats the way it goes with ssd's

Other Thoughts: dont hate me cause im beautiful. lol

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect!

Pros: Excellent SSD. Easy to install in my Toshiba Portege R705-P35. Applications open in a blink and I haven't experienced any problems whatsoever. The Samsung SSD Magician software is extremely easy to use and helps you enable most OS optimizations for your new baby to have a smooth sailing. The brushed metal type design is also extremely durable and sleek.

Cons: A little lower than the advertised speeds but that could just be a different benchmarking standard. (came with latest firmware revision)

Other Thoughts: It will make you feel like you're riding on lightning.

5 out of 5 eggsNice!

Pros: Great performance over a normal drive.

Cons: its not 1TB

Other Thoughts: From power on to Windows 7 in 7 seconds. It makes for one zippy computer.

5 out of 5 eggsIt is not cheap

Pros: Faster than a harddrive

Cons: At 2011 prices levels, this is about
30 times more expensive than a 1T harddrive.

Other Thoughts: The wife's desktop boot up time to ready screen on google was decrease by at least 60 seconds. The anti virus programs were slowing downt her desktop. Now the boot up time is less than 2 minutes. It is still longer than the 85 seconds I timed from the Ubuntu before the SSD upgrade. But it is satisfactory.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid drive/Honest speeds

Pros: Transfer speeds are up to par with the vendor's advertised specifications. It's the slickest looking component you've ever considered buying.

CrystalDiskMark: 268/178MBps (Read/Write)
HDtune: 225/242/140Mbps (min/max/avg) .2ms access time

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: The 191MBps drop in hdtune was around 4-5 GB mark and was brief.

All sdd's are fast, go for consistent transfer rates instead of the peak speed advertised by the vendor. The corsair I purchased before this samsung showed speeds from 103-226Mbps and was specked at 285/275 read/write

5 out of 5 eggstwo thumbs up from a vile profane guy

Pros: Bought this and another MLC drive just to see what's up. I'd already had the Samsung 64GB SLC drive for more than a year and bought it when they were getting 800...1000 bucks for them but got one for $400 and have been waiting for SLC prices to come down but at the prices you can quality MLCs for, why wait? I'm pleased with the drive in all respects......it usually performs on the numbers and the Magician tool takes care of a problem I'm still trying to deal with on the SLC Samsung and unfortunately the Magician thing won't work on it. And being [on some/most issues] a computidiot I'm yet to figure how to 'wipe' the SLC drive to get it back to 'as new' performance.

My laptop has two drives so a 500GB spinning disk allows everything but the OS and Programs to live offsite [the 470]. Read/write times just aren't that important to my work because....well surfs up or something but the older,
slower SLC is a bit faster on seek times. & I'm outta words or I'd go on forever.

Cons: All I could come up with here would be updating the firmware and the Magician not working on an older Samsung drive. Hell it doesn't even recogonize it so I guess that's a double con. But really I've had no real 'cons' and don't sit up nights waiting for one to come along. I've also never ever had any hard drive fail so if/when one does I'm going to be a shocked dude.

Other Thoughts: I still have the 40GB drive from my first computer, a 4200rpm Big Brand number that still is full in a storage mode and is still noiseless and reliable and about 14 years old. And I can give the Samsung 470 a five star, two thumbs up slap on the back

5 out of 5 eggsSTUPID FAST

Pros: Purchased for server connected mini htpc build so storage (gigs) wasn't an issue. W7, MyMovies, TMT5 and PDVD fit with gigs to spare. COMPUTER BOOTS BEFORE THE WINDOWS LOGO SPLASHES TOGETHER.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Can't wait until ssd's come down in price.

1 out of 5 eggsShort-Lived

Pros: Excellent, for the two weeks it lasted.

Cons: I've had it for a few months but haven't ever opened it, as I'd been planning on building a new rig when I got the money. I finally put it in the machine about two weeks ago. It failed yesterday.

Newegg will not replace it after the 30-day mark, and Samsung will not RMA it because I purchased it through a reseller, despite the fact that Newegg claims on the product page that it carries a 3-year limited manufacturer warranty. I now have a $130, 64GB, blazing-fast paperweight.

Other Thoughts: Gamble on it if you like; just don't expect any help at all from Newegg or Samsung if it dies after 30 days are up.
