SAMSUNG 840 Series MZ-7TD500KW 2.5" 500GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Comes complete with cables and mounting hardware you'd ever need. Also a data migration software that "clones" your old harddrive onto the new Samsung SSD. Worked like a charm, on my Windows 7 laptop, and just could not have been any easier. Make sure you have an internet connection when installing the SW as it will update automatically. I have ~ 465GB useable, it's lightning fast, Windows recognized it and installed the appropriate driver automatically. I had a Corsair, that failed in 18 months. We'll see how this one does. So far, it seems to be a better quality product.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this from Newegg to give new life to my 4 year old Dell XPS. The install was EZ, the primary disk cloning s/w worked without a hitch, and the Samsung Magician s/w provided configures the rest of Win7 settings without hassle. Now the machine is very fast (even though the MoBo doesn't support SATA3), and I can use this machine for several more years without feeling slow or outdated. Can recommend this product highly.

Pros: Fast, compatible, and reliable drive. Works fine in a Mac Pro 2,1. Great value for the money.

Other Thoughts: I have several of these drives and they work great in Windows and Mac systems. I used an Icy Doc 2.5" to 3.5" MB882SP-1S-2B adapter to mount the drive in a standard drive holder for the Mac Pro 2,1 and it went right in. I cloned the std. hard disk with Carbon Copy Cloner then pulled out the std. hard disk and replaced it with this SSD. The Mac started up after an initial delay (typical after cloning) and now boots from cold within 15 seconds. As expected the OS feels much, much, faster as a result of using this large capacity SSD.

Pros: Speed and performance coupled with affordable price are things I was looking for when I bought this SSD. The product did not disappoint me, but instead exceeded expectations. Good job Samsung!
Win7 boot time decreased from 1:40 to 35s, while Ubuntu went from 40s to 20s. Considering that my mobo is SATA2, my performance could have been better.
Overall computer performance has increased tremendously.

Cons: The only con I see is the price. Manufacturers should try to bring it down. This will not only be increase their sales and make customers happy!

Other Thoughts: This is my first SSD. I did not want to buy third party brands and was waiting for good brands to bring their prices to an acceptable level (for me at least).
Also, I bought an HDD caddy where I mounted my old HDD. The caddy replaces your laptop CD-ROM, which I did not use much (I have an external one, anyway).

Pros: good memory, very overclockable

Cons: will not update firmware no matter what I do, so far stuck with original firmware. but it is fast n good. just would be nice if Samsung had a fix or something for firmware update.

Other Thoughts: would like the firmware updates. they are there for a reason, shouldn't be impossible to do.

Pros: It does everything it is supposed to do, and does it fast.

Samsung's data migration program means you don't have to do a full re-install.

500GB!

It comes with two stickers for your case. This is very important because I love stickers so much.

Is faster and doesn't make my computer crash like my old OCZ SSD did.

Cons: Price could be better.

Other Thoughts: If it's on sale, buy it. buy it now.

It would also be nice if Samsung's data migration software worked for non-Samsung SSDs.

Other Thoughts: No doubt Samsung is becoming to be a leader in SSD's market, and they deserve the worth because their realiability and innovation. I own a 830-256GB and I'm very happy but the 840 series is even better as Samsung have made some improvements, e.g. higher IOPS and even better features. I think this is a big opportunity to buy this SDD for an excellent price plus a $20 Promo by Newegg. Trust me, You'll never disappoint with this purchase.

Pros: Fast as heck! Windows boots extremely quick with this.
Combined this with new CPU, Mobo and RAM and it is truly amazing.

Cons: nope.

Other Thoughts: If I had enough cash, I would buy ten more of these.

Pros: So far a good hard drive. On a SATA II system Seg read 263, write 260, Random read 50541, write 47045.
Soon to upgrade motherboard to LGA2011 with appropriate processor, needed to do something temp yet part of the upgrade now due to programs running. (Building Information Modeling and 3D graphics) Then the specs will be closer to what is described by the manufacturer.

Cons: Samsung cloning software did not work with this computer combination, even after several attempts. (HP Pavilion Elite desktop)
Only able to get Samsung clone to work on another system (Dell Alienware laptop) whech we installed another one of these drives.
Used NIT Echo which has worked flawlessly for several clones with several other machines

Other Thoughts: Even with the lower specs everything is running a lot faster

Pros: My first SSD and this is too good to describe. Almost instant boot on Windows 8 x64. In fact, it boots so fast I'm caught by surprise when it's time to login.
Easy install. Easy transfer of my OS and files with the included software. I can never go back to a mechanical hdd.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I don't know if this is faster or slower or better or worse than other SSD's. I just know it's in a different class than my 7200rpm SATA drive that's in my closet now.
